Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 659s

Adam Parle brakes a bit too late into the toe, tries to slide up the inside of Simon Gymer but loses control at the last minute and slide into Simon taking them both off.

Adam is at fault here but there were mitigating factors. Simon brakes slightly earlier than normal (because of the car ahead I expect). By running wide to leave room, Simon probably ends up making life harder (unintentionally) for Adam by being in the middle of the track. Had he stuck to the inside then Adam would probably have gone to the outside and taken himself out. The fact that Adam very nearly avoided contact and only did so by losing control is also in his favour.

  • Adam Parlepenalty — Side contact after braking too late — 1 place lost

I can't remember exactly what was said but whoever is responsible for the collision detection admitted it needed looking at and was working on it.

iRacing uses quite a different collision detection system to the other sims which (in the end) should be more flexible and realistic but is still more crudely implemented that is ideal at the moment.

In trying to accommodate future higher level of sophistication I think there's areas which might have been released in a less than ideal state but hopefully will get fixed in the end.

Just had a quick look at the replay at the start of the race. Overall I think that was one of the cleanest starts to a race we've had, good job guys Smiley

I'm playing the game NOW, so I would like it to work properly NOW, not in the future Tongue, however I appreciate that unlike GTR2 we will see updates to the game over time because it's a subscription based service rather than a one off fee.

It's not like it's completely broken though, it works fine 95%+ of the time.

Have been really struggling with this.
Did a 1.36 last time and couldn't get anywhere near it in practice.
Was getting very frustrated, tried lots of different set up's and had put in enough effort but no joy!
Last night, I was struggling to turn in to the corners / running out of lock!
I know it sounds daft but I have my G25 set up for 500 degrees and have found that great for most cars
so have never considered changing it.
I eventually tried calibrating it in game to 600 degrees and immediately was much faster!
You live and learn I guess!  Embarrassed ( Wally! )

Resisted the temptation to run up the middle at the start, just as well cos that would have caught Dave out and it would have been messy! Smiley Took it steady and was going well until an unforced error at the chicane gave me a half spin and Pops had nowhere to go! Sad
Sorry Pops, my fault!
Sounds like I might have had that ride height issue! Top tip for next race! Smiley
Reset and still had fun running a lap down!
Tyres were toast with 8 to go and no-one else was behind me so stopped for a late splash and dash.
10th! no complaints!

Great fun!  Wink  It a big challenge driving this car and if close racing means chasing the time difference between me and the guy in front then thats fine with me at the moment!  Grin

As stated, once we all get more capable at driving these cars and stay on the track !  Grin then 'racing' will improve!?  Grin

I don't think so. With the damage system as it is I will never have as much fun in racing against other people as in GTR(2). no
Lately I found myself in the same position as after the first month when iR was introduced: I stay away from others as any contact more or less means the end of effective racing for one, probably both. I prefer letting people by than fighting for position. I used to do that in public iRaces for fear of losing safety rating and now in fear of ending someone elses race. Undecided  It's a bit alarming as racing against people is what I'm looking for and shying away from others was the reason of my retiring from public iRaces. Sad

This is all subjective feeling I guess as Purds doesn't suffer from it. Tongue

Are you saying you rigged the calibration. eg You left wheel set to 500 deg but calibrated to 600 deg, therefore increassing the steering ratio? It is adjustable in the Dallara anyway you know.

Apologies for the late report.

Qual went well and that was about the best I had done in practice leading up to the race. Dan gave me a big fright so was a bit lucky to get pole.

Went with high downforce for the race solely for the reason I could push pretty hard for a full fuel run without worrying about losing it. Dan kept close for the first few laps but then I slowly edged away. The pit stop went well this week and I maintained my lead but put in too much fuel. I kept the same pace until about 4 to go when I decided to push on to test the setup for official series. Did a mid 34 on the last lap and finished with 9 gals so there should be more to come.

Big thanks to Simon for not trying to unlap himself on the first two laps after my pit stop. He was way faster on the top straight and could have made a move into the inner loop. It did show me that I was probably running too much downforce given the speed difference. Also looking atthe time of the official series I was a little off pace to where I normally would be. I have now further tweaked my qual setup to run less rear wing and am down to the high 32s so thanks Sharky! Took a lot of tweaking to add understeer to make it drivable. and havent made it work with any more fuel than qual yet.

Congrats to rest of the podium and Pops for his solid drive.

Did my official series IndyCar race tonight and it was a really big help having done the SRou race on Tuesday as I was prepared. Finished in an amazing 5th position, which I'm dead chuffed with. My pace wasn't as fast as Tuesday as I was more scared of crashing so I hovered around 1:36.0 all race, but I was confident and made no mistakes.

If you fancy sharing your new setup wouldn't mind giving it a go please? Smiley

Yeah I dont mind posting it up. It only works for qual adding just 9 gals for a TT turned it into a horrible oversteery mess. Darren tried it and went slower so I dont think I am giving anything away!

I will try and post it tonight although I am out on the beer so it may be tomorrow.

No. Although some drivers may choose to not allow guests to download particular setups at any time.
