Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 659s

Adam Parle brakes a bit too late into the toe, tries to slide up the inside of Simon Gymer but loses control at the last minute and slide into Simon taking them both off.

Adam is at fault here but there were mitigating factors. Simon brakes slightly earlier than normal (because of the car ahead I expect). By running wide to leave room, Simon probably ends up making life harder (unintentionally) for Adam by being in the middle of the track. Had he stuck to the inside then Adam would probably have gone to the outside and taken himself out. The fact that Adam very nearly avoided contact and only did so by losing control is also in his favour.

  • Adam Parlepenalty — Side contact after braking too late — 1 place lost

It's her birthday today so I'm doubtful for this race.

I will try my best though.

What times then Mike? I did a mid 34 last night, but I will undoubtedly fall apart like a cheap watch this evening!! Smiley
I had a low 1:35 after about 4 laps of a run, so 34's would not be out of the question.

Well it must be me because that felt quite nice to drive last night even managing a 35.9 which surprised me. Using my old setup from the race we had here, if the car has changed much it didnt feel like it, in fact it felt nicer over the curbs at the bus stop chicane Huh

I'm sure tonight it will feel horrible though as seemed to be the case last time.

Ran a few laps last night with the default road mid downforce set-up and was doing consistent 36s/37s which is clearly slow, but did at least feel like I wasn't going to fall off the track at every corner.  I think the gearing is wrong though, but no time to work on that really before tonight.

Cheers, Ross.

You think you have problems.... I'm only in the 39's Sad
Did a 36 in the race last time but can't get anywhere near it this time.
Watched everybodies lines etc. and can't understand what I'm doing wrong!
I think I may take up stamp collecting!  Undecided

Will still be there to mop up after you guys inevitably throw yourselves off the course! Smiley

Have you tried the default road-mid aero set-up?  It seems very stable and 1m37s seem pretty easy to do.  If the backend does go, just jump on the brakes so that you slide rather than spin.

(famous last words here I think!)

Cheers, Ross.

Anyone having problems with cars setups from last time is likely to be using those that run low and soft and on the bump stops as was the way to go fast last season. One of the changes was to the bump stops so what is likely to happen is that the rear is bottoming out in the fast corners and its instant spin.

Saying that I cant find a setup that I am completely happy with. I cant get enough front bite without making it too loose so its a bit of a comprimise. I managed to gain some time in qual but using less wing than at Brands but only half a second and it is harder to drive. Same with the race I had to dial in some understeer to stop the rears overheating after 5 laps and this is effecting lap times. It may be that the difference in high wing to mid wing is so negliable that is worth going for a safer setup especially for a race.

I think the car is slower than last time as well and that seems backed up in the forums. In the Drivers World Championship I was half a sec slower at Barber from the Week 1 Indycar series and this seemed consistant for everyone (I qualled a 1.10.7 in week1 and only a 1.11.3 in the DWC). Although that time was still quicker than last season that may be due to the elevation power changes with Barber being close to sea level apparently. Watkins on the other hand is quite high so we may be down on power as well as having less grip or whatever else has changed since week 1. There is quite a bit of discussion about this in the forums Dallara section.

Well if our championship table showed incident points I would undoubtedly be your man. 89 in 32 laps, now that's consistency Wink.

Actually felt somewhere near comfortable towards the end of the session, eventually dipping into the 34's with the occasional clue via iSpeed that there's more in it if I'm feeling brave Smiley.

I'd say the chances of finishing unscathed are slimmer than slim but I'm just continuing to love driving these quicker single seaters so with any luck I'll get 10 laps out of it at least before I drop off the cliff face of tyre wear!

I guess we're expecting a pit stop tonight?

I'm 50/50 for tonight I'm afraid after family stuff took up all my planned practice time over the last few days :'(

If I get get some consistency beforehand and I do race, I'll start from the pits I think.
