Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 2438s

Stuart and Don make contact into T1. Don attempts to ease up and let Stuart through into T1, Stuart stays a little wide and Don tags him when he starts his turn-in.

Don doesn't do much wrong, apart from maybe mis-judging how quickly Stewart will pass. Don stays wide and eventually runs out of track and has to make his turn-in and just catches the back of Stuarts car. I think Don could have eased off a little more if the intention was to let Stuart though.

Stuart seems to have taken his normal line through the turn and not taken into account that Don was still there. I think Stuart could have taken a slightly tighter line in this case

Make sure you have your spotter turned on, that may have helped in this case.

Racing incident.

  • Don (Donald Wright)advice — Leave a little more margin for error going 2 wide into a fast turn
  • Simmo (Stuart Symonds)advice — Leave a little more margin for error going 2 wide into a fast turn.
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded

Server replay time: 2448s

After the previous incident Stuart is on the inside of the track facing the wrong direction, when he attempts to re-join the track he drives straight into John Stamper who can't do anything to avoid the contact.

It's very disappointing to see a re-join this badly thought through.

Instead of turning around off-track and rejoining safely, Stuart is facing slightly the wrong way around the track when he rejoins and so would have taken the entire width of the track to turn around anyway. This mean that for a relatively lengthy period he was causing an obstruction.

I don't think there's any other option than to award the maximum 3 place penalty.

We had a great race though, thouroughly enjoyed it.

Yep was a good giggle Stu, felt as if we were on elastic for a while there....shame we didn't get the grandstand finish. Druids move was ambitious but unlike many of my moves in iR, that one I'm confident was going to stick Smiley.

Anyway no worries about bump, look forward to the next one....actually that's a lie....if a Dallara @ Infineon hasn't got trouble written all over it I don't know what has!!

Is it not just the subtle elevation change as you crest the ridge? Having never driven it for real I wouldn't know how accurate/innacurate it is.

I didn't notice it at all in my road car. In fact I don't ever remember seeing a car spin there in real life - usually if somebody is going to go off there it's because they are carrying too much speed and wash out wide.

Ah ha!: "An improvement has been made to areas where multiple pieces of track join up so that the seams may be less bumpy."

I can't feel any actual bump there, although Paul T mentions feeling something through his G25. I'd have to study the track map, but it is not just the same crest of the GP course where grip falls off, only your not travelling quite as fast on the Indy, but you are turning a tighter radius??

Regarding Zandvort, if it is imminent does that mean Oulton is next out of the sausage machine?? It will be great to get a proper rendition of OP, which is sadly missing from any of the other sims. GPL is the nearest, all those versions produced for rFactor and GTR/GTL etc are very poorly constructed as far as elevation mapping is concerned. I don't like criticising the hard work of track makers, but frankly they are comical.

You go up, you go down. When you crest the rise you loose grip. Am I oversimplifying things here?

As I said though, how many people were losing it over that crest? I wasn't at all, it was much earlier where I might have had a problem.

Yes Paul, but I'm merely trying to explain why Dave finds a lack of feel/grip at that point. My line is to try to turn the car before the crest, so by the time I kiss the curb at the apex I am winding the wheel back out.

There seemed to be an awful lot of the slower cars who were suddenly jamming on the anchors there - I nearly ran into several and actually did run into the back of one there.

OK Ken, I thought the discussion was about why there were so many incidents.

Don't think so Ken...

Zandvoort will be available today by the looks of it (site is down for maintainance right now).

Steve Myers said something like "the next content update would be the V8's and so Philip island was on top of the track production list."

It's hard to tell exactly though, he wasn't 100% explicit.

That would be the Aussie V8's then? Bathhurst then? Got a link for further details  Smiley Still not bitten by iR but those cars might just well swing it, I'll start saving my pennies :'(

Yes, it's the Ford V8 Supercar;

http://www.iracing.com/news/ford-v8-supercar-and-phillip-island-grand-prix-circuit-to-join-iracing-com-service/

They haven't been able to do a deal with Bathurst;

"As for Bathurst, I am afraid to tell you that we have not been able to gather any interest from them in partnering with us."

As well as Philip island, the other track they scanned was Oran Park.

I have the replay but probably won't be able to upload it until Sunday as I'm away for the weekend. If no-one else can upload it I'll do it then.

I thought they scanned Oulton when they scanned Brands, but it seems the scan order doesn't necessarily govern the track release order. PI is a mighty fine track too though, great action there last weekend with the World Supers.

That's true Ken, they work on tracks in terms of importance (to the service) rather than strict chronological order.

I think Long Beach was scanned right at the very beginning but has been on hold waiting for the technology to catch up with the object complexity.
