Sounds like I missed a good one. Nice result for KC and Clive. Congrats on the win Ian. Fantastic pace from the Mini Madd. You were quicker in that then I was. I, like Ian, focused my efforts in the Healy.

Great race for me - Had an awesome start from 12th on the grid, probably gaining about 4 places on the run to T1. Got lightly tapped on the rear by a mini in the second half of the corner (I had to back off due to the wall of cars blocking the road ahead!) but aside from loosing a brake light wasn't slowed or damaged.
Then got mugged repeatedly throughout the rest of the lap when cars infront crashed/span acrosss the road infront causing me to go evasive. Started lap 2 back in 12th again after all was said and done  Roll Eyes

Managed to fight my way back to 8th fairly easily, then passed Ade when he made a mistake. I then put in my FL while trying to hold his mini off but lost speed in an acciddental drift out of T2 on the following lap. From there I spent most of the race clinging on behind Ade, Ian Robey and Geoffers at about a 2 second gap - we later caught Clive up but I half span in T2 somewhere around the final 3rd of the race dooming myself to near enough zero chance of beating 8th.
Great fun otherwise, the 'Tina was a hoot once I'd overcome the understeer - and then overcome the wild oversteer my remedy created!  Grin
Ended up with an almost neutral car that could be mostly controlled on the throttle and had great fun trying not to waste momentum from lap to lap  angel

I made a good start and ended up going from 6th to 3rd, with my teamie, Lorenzo just behind me.

After a few laps I made a mess of the second to last corner and whilst I could have defended it I took the opportunity to let Lorenzo through, expecting him to disappear into the distance.  But he didn’t.

That meant that I spent the whole race fending off Ade, Geoffers and Matt whilst also keeping a respectable distance from Lorenzo, so that we didn’t hit each other.

I was a nervous wreck by the finish and on the last lap Ade actually managed to pass me on the outside of the last two corners but thankfully the Healey had enough grunt to reach the line before Ade could.  Hard luck Ade but if you will drive Mary Quant’s shopping car what do you expect?  Grin

I wasn’t at full tilt because I didn’t like the noises that the engine made when I changed down at the end of the straight when running in qually mode.

A brilliant result for the Soggies and with Ian clearing off for a couple of weeks we can only hope that Mike keeps getting these business commitments on a Thursday afternoon.  Think I will have to make a few phone calls.   shifty

It was well know that the Austin fleet would be faster.
As I have posted before, I didn't like the Healey driving even if it was faster.
So, I decided to chose between Mini and Cortina. But...I went for something more
challenging albeit after my usual 2 laps parctice found it the slower of them all.  Roll Eyes
In the end I enjoyed it, in a more twisted track I bet the Abarth would fight for a podium place.  yes
The lack of top speed was a pitty, specially for its direct opponent.
I had lots of fun with the duel with API for many laps, it worth to see the replay.  Smiley
I'm happy with the final 9th place and the 1st of the no British cars.  Grin

Once more, the backmarkers were fantastic, even when I cought Bill, Laurie and Sandor fighting
each other. You three have done a great job.  I Am Not Worthy

Congrats to the podium and well done to all.

Cheers

Another totally enjoyable race for me as I battled with Bill and Sandor - thanks guys for making it such a good night.  clap clap

Not really one of my favourite circuits but have to agree it does produce great races. (A little disappointed that PR didn't put on his aerial acrobatics as he did last season in GTL  w00t whistling)

Congratulations to the podium and thanks to everyone who turned up.

Another hard but enjoyable evenings racing - nice one Tony and thanks folks for all your efforts in the race.  Made a good start and was OK into T1 but had a nudge on the exit and hit a spun Abarth - sorry for the push but it seemed the quickest way for both of us to get going again; then I threw it away by running wide and letting you through.  After that I put my head down and drove, passed a couple of cars and then caught up to Laurie and had a long battle to get past - that was great Laurie.  Sorry for the nudge, so I let you back through and I resisted the temptation of jumping onto the end of a train of cars you moved over for -  I wanted a clean overtaking. Once again we stayed close for the rest of the race.  Thanks for your compliments PR, with my Cortina GT faster than your Abarth in a straight line it was difficult to find the best place to let you through.  It was much more difficult to judge where best to move over and lift for another Cortina at times -  particularly since Laurie was driving one as well.

Congrats to the podium and see you all Tuesday - well some  of you GTL fanatics, for the real fanatics tonight on GTLDK.

Well it was kinda fun driving the Abarth but it was driving me mental in qually that despite feeling like I was hooking up decent laps was well off the pace.

Took me until lap three to realise I was having more bloomin' pedal problems with only 96% throttle on the straights! I knew it was linked to the earthing problem I'd been having so decided to yank the earth off half way down the straight. Unfortunately this caused total brake pedal failure instead lol - nice trade Wink. Wiped out at T1 and it was game over.

A real shame I couldn't mix it up with my fellow Abarths at least but thanks to the Oldies and co for putting on a good show for me to watch from the pitlane. Was actually planning to bugger off to Laguna Seca after retiring but watching Legzy battle his bent and oversteering Healey with Lazlow's slightly less bent Abarth was enough to keep me entertained!

Highlight for me was the car park scene at the penultimate corner lol - I've never seen anything like that before, 6 or 7 cars all bunched up within inches and all seemingly having their own "mini-moments"! Hilarious.

Grats SBG and podium people - not forgetting PR and WT bringing home some strong finishes for us of the green persuasion.

Oh yeah, Monaco in the Elan is brilliant btw but that thing is somewhat "unique" in it's handling characteristics! As I'm writing this it just occurred to me I'm out for the old man's birthday next Thursday....Legz you're really gonna have to move it for both SBG and I Wink

Probably the most petty boring dull race. Only good thing was I wasnt last, I improved my laptimes by max 3 secs during the race over qualifying, ok I had odd 2-3 offs during the race, but thing that annoyed me most was I had 7.4gals = 39laps, yet it said with 1 to go I was out of fuel???

No worries Dan, I didn't know if you turned in a bit early or got forced over by another car. It all happened so quick I couldn't avoid spinning you around.  Sad

Great race, all action from beginning to end. Tremendous tussle between the Mini trio of Matt, Ade & me all trying to find a way past Clive's Healey. We got a little spread out at one point until we came across a group of lapees which closed us all up again. Unfortunately ended up at the back of the group at the flag, but had a whale of a time  Grin.

Congrats to Ian, Madd & Lorenzo. thumbup1
