I was 8 secs behind you when I pitted, yet I was nearly 20 ahead when you left the pits Roll Eyes. The question remains... What do you do for your pitstops? Look at your pitstop laptime compared to everybody else's! Looking at your pitstop, you were stationery for 45secs, I was stationary for about 29 secs.

Sort it out MJ, because I'd of loved more of the same fight in the 2nd stint!

but how did you manage a 29sec stop ? i only took 40mins fuel onboard, no repairs and had a tyre change. Parked on my stripes no manouvering. Thats why i was so gutted to see you all so far down the road when i emerged, when i had been leading the blinking lot of you when i stopped ! Spanner was the only one i thought 'might' get the jump on me as he was the only car near me on track.
I am getting the right hump with pitstops ruining my races..its been a common curse for me  Roll Eyes !!

MJ: I start with maximum fuel and 'top up' back to 40 minutes if I stop half way - this saves time on topping up from zero left in the tank as the fuel doesn't go in that fast! I know certain other drivers control the engine stop and drift to a stop to save time on having the computer do it automatically. I tried this a few times but made mistakes under race pressure.

That was a fun race with plenty of good close racing with the GTC cars in 4th-9th place especially Spanner in the second half. It was a strange feeling to be catching JB in 1st having been lapped - I hope I was not to blame for your spin towards the end as battle was great up to then.  Undecided

Well done to all podiums from both classes.

Enjoyable and hard race, some good racing there..

MJ,
Did you request a stop?
I started with 50L. Heres my routine. cut the engine a few secs before and coast into the pit box, 1-3sec looking at the clipboard, wait for the fuel (50L), wait for the tyres (front & rear) and wait for damage repair (4-5sec) then go.

Good race mostly. hounded JPV for the 1st few until he fell off, then got hounded in return by Picnic, I went wobbly in that
nasty tight chicane, he got past, had two lots of good close battling with Jose, (could not understand why we were even racin, I was expecting to be left well behind) 2nd half we got too close and fell off
I hung around, but no yellow car, lost the place to Goldy, then drove like a nutter to the end, almost closed up
but couldn't quite hold it, then got delayed by lappers and that was the end. Good racing.

Really enjoyed that.  sweatdrop

Started 5th & enjoyed being at the head of the Legzy train Grin. Held up Prof & Spanner for lap after lap, eventually I slipped up & they both managed to get through Grrr Angry. They were both too hot to hold onto & a gap opened ahead... while the gap behind to MJ closed rapidly! Shocked
He was on a stormer, literally on fire I tell ya! Spanner then fell off & we both went through. Absolutely cracking racing then took place, again MJ was quicker but I did well holding position for many many laps Kiss. Sadly I made a pigs ear of the chicane & he rightly got through taz I Am Not Worthy Well done mate, you were too hot for me.

By this point my mediums had turned to jelly & I dropped another place to Spanner as I tried to hold out a little longer.

Pitted with H@L up my trumpet & left with him there too. Funnily enough he was still there about 25 mins later!!! sweatdrop sweatdrop nono Wink Great stuff mate, shame when you went off.

Oh, forgot to mention I sneaked past Spanner, Prof & in case anybody didn't realise MJ Tongue Tongue in the pits lol

Once H@L fell off, it was just a case of keeping my lead over the Gaining Prof & Spanner, lucky for me they were fighting each other. If not for that, there's no way I'd have held onto 5th (back where I started).

Good clean racing by everyone I was with tonight, excellent stuff chaps. Cool

Nice race. Grin

I had many battles involving MJ, Spanner, Jose and an epic fight with Legzy which sadly ended with 12 mins to go when I lost control. I was at the limit of my ability keeping the TVR pointed in the required direction.

I always remember FreQ saying that to be fast in the stop, it is best to shut the engine off as you roll in. I think you may need to have manual clutch for this to work. I always practise my pit stop making sure that I brake as late as possible before the limiter kicks in. I also always start with 100L fuel because the filling process is rather slow. I think that for the FIA GT 03-04 in IRL the fuel is pumped at a slow speed in the name of safety and this is simulated in the game. I am sure it is always better to start heavy. I needed to take on only 5L fuel at the stop and I changed all 4 tyres.

If your stop was faster, you would have kicked my Butt MJ.

Well done podiums, see you all next time. Smiley

Yes, it was a shame.

The fight reminded me of some fights I have had with TT. I was close for many laps but could not get passed. I was in fact lapping faster than my average time in your slipstream. When you made a mistake I would get passed (sometimes) only to be re passed on the next corner. Then it starts again. Grin

Lots of fun. Smiley

Lol, from 1st to 8th the names for Q and R are the same. Like the darn F1. Tongue
Qualified behind the aliens and was surprised I could keep pace with Jayblue. Didn't set the car correctly, as it was ok over the twisty parts but not very good for the last corner exit. After some laps behind JB (30 minutes, was it? Wink ) I managed to overtake and started slowly to build up a gap. After we caught the cars to lap the hard won gap fell from 5 seconds to 1 and I saw JB got his rhytm. As I was losing 0,5 to 1 sec on my best lap I decided to pit at 30 min left, took fuel and tyres. I knew I didn't have a chance once I let JB by and it showed in the end when I finished 17 seconds behind him. Still, it's a bit better than 1 lap, as it was until now. Grin

Lapping was difficult at times, but only 'cause of the nature of the track - the guys were flawless. Smiley

Grats both podys and bummer for MJ. Smiley

Q.1...R.1  Cheesy

the first 20laps sponsored b. g. did follow me very close and i did drive totaly on limit with spyker, his porsche was little faster in the straights and this surprised me much, i was thinking spyker is the strongest car for straights Huh and he was much better in late brake and during a lap it looks like he was little fater, BUT he always loose time in last last corner before start/finish straight and this was so important for me, here it looks like the spyker was totaly great to drive, very happy with the car.
it was good action the first 20laps and we both did great laptimes and we did do make quick a gap to JB and truetom, but short before the pitstops come, he suddently loose any seconds (lapping car problem) and i had lead which was big enough for my longer pitstop with spyker, spyker need 21l extra fuel in pitstop (2.56-2.58l each lap).
i did good pitstop and come 10 sec. in front of sponsored b. g. on track and i was able to make the gap a little bigger, but JB did no pitstop.
he was now in lead and i was wondering, do he forget to make pitstop and drive without pitstop? If not i was sure he do only make 1-5ltires quick stop without change tyres, so i have to come under 25-30 sec. behind him, and this i did because he had bad tyres and i had fresh tyres.
After he did his stop short before end he come out of pit as 2nd with around 10 sec. behind me, i was happy and i did drive my win home laugh

congrats to API for GT3 win and congrats to all podiums.

I knew the Vertigo was not the fastest car here by a long way but after recent "constructive criticism" i decided to stick with it. I had no time to test other cars anyway. During quali i was really suprised to see just how far off the pace i was and i expected Berger and SBG to really leave me standing in the race.

I was trying something different strategy wise and needed my tyres to last the whole race unchanged so i was constantly nursing them, especially during the opening laps. Berger and SBG quickly disappeared but not as fast as quali pace suggested. TT closed in and the gap behind him to Legzy, Prof and the pack was pretty big so when he eventually got close enough to have a go i saw no need to defend and let him  go without a fight. Once everyone stopped SBG was around 50 secs behind and Berger 40secs.

My tyres were still holding on well and my laptimes hadn't fallen away too badly. Unfortunately i hit JPV's lagged out car and took aero damage before my stop, loosing around 6 crucial seconds. At my stop on lap 43 i only took on 7l of fuel, so it was a real quick stop. Exited the pits and Berger was gone but i was ahead of SBG. His newer tyres helped him close in as mine were now above 30 wear and really tough to handle. With 2 laps left i approached Bob to lap him and missed my braking point into the turn at the end of the back straight trying to regain the racing line - SBG slipped past and that was that. Maybe second was possible with a perfect drive  Undecided

It was an interesting race anyway and made a nice change to be involved in a decent, if strategic, scrap. Grats to Berger and SBG. One thing that did suprise me was how slow i was on the straight, even running wing 5 on rear i was getting trashed by the Spyker and and the Porka, and even the GT3 Viper! Also i couldnt get alongside JPV's GT3 BMW when i tried to lap him either  Huh

Had a good work out with Goldtop, more like Meerman Vs Borgchimp
GT faster on the straights and me gaining on the twisty bits, good stuff!

I was looking good for second place in GT3 but due to the affliction of
a virus a cerebral cortex malfunction occured causing a miscalculation
in the fuel refill program. Yes, i ran out of fuel.

Not sure what happend to you adam (nsfast) same, because you where
ahead of me.So overall a subsonic result from team supersonicGT3!!

Congrats to all winners and podiums.

I've always disliked this track as never seems to suit the car. My usual soft front were falling apart so had to go meds on the front which meant the rears were wearing more now which makes it difficult to drive around with the rears spinnign up a few times.. Saying that though the race was pretty intense with a group of 4 or 5 of us all pretty close for the whole race Cool Went off after only 10 laps at the double left early on and picked up some slight damage, and thought i'd lost touch with e rest of them but managed to slowly gain on them helped by Prof going off and H@L seemingly struggling. Just caught up to Legzy and MJ for a few laps before stopping and having not practised the entry took it quite cautiously and decided to repair the aero damage i'd picked up. In hindsight i shouldnt have, as it was down as aero damage i thought repairing it was only going to benefit me. So filled up 50L changed tyres and came out with Prof a few secs behind and Legzy & H@L about 12secs up the road. I was sure that gap was doable. After a few laps Prof got past but and hoped that we could both drag ourselves up towards Legzy and H@L as i was finding it easier with someone to follow.
Somehow we were catching Jayblue who was between us and the next group but he allowed us past, but with Prof increasingly sideways through the corner after the back straight and i'm taking more speed through the first half of it for a late apex i had no choice but to try and avoid him which was disapointing. Luckily H@L was quite a distance behind so for the last few laps i was watching the gaps ahead hoping Prof was going to get past Legzy proving me right. Sadly not Sad

That was strange, and you weren't the only one, the other GTC's seemed to have trouble too on the main straight, even with drafting and certainly exiting the Parabolica better than me.  Grin

Not to worry, you certainly can't have done anything about it! TBH i thought i had left a big gap to your frozen car but it seemed to be occupying a larger than life gap in the track  Cheesy

well I  only had GTR2 installed 3 days and set up my wheel etc. I started out practicing with a 911 but wasnt getting on with it, changed to a Beemer, but the more I went through the setup procedure, the worse it seemed to get, so Sunday morning out of desperation I changed to the Vertigo, which at least seemed very stable, I restricted setup to brakes and tyres, camber, gears and ride height.

The race started terribly for me I was getting 9fps and my HUD was just a white square so I just tried to stay out of the way (one advantage of qualifying last I suppose  Wink ) anyway I was about to give up and retire but after half a lap it suddenly jumped to 25fps, so the race was on, trouble is the field had long since slipped out of site. Nevefrmind it would be a good experience as I have never done a pitstop before so I soldiered on. Managed to eventually overtake a few as they had dropped back due to crashing or something. I have to say I had absolutely no idea as to pit strategy so I went for 1 hour and then new tyres and enough fuel to finish the race.

Being at the back at least you know every car behind is a lapper so I tried not to block anyone too much, however once I had passed a few I had no idea which car behind was a lapper and which wasnt so this didnt help so I let the odd car i was racing through too. I had forgotten to allow tags so i didnt know who was who which was confusing.

Still, I enjoyed the experience and hopefully will be back for more
