Was the server misnamed "UKGTR Practice" again? Should have been "UKGTR - GT Sprint S2", there was a practice server up until about 7:30, could it have been that you saw?

What a nightmare I had today. I got late at home and when got to the lobby only one place available. Join in already inside Q2 soon to find out I had a terrible stutter. Impossible to drive like that. Got out and in again. Still stuttering. Out once again and when to join in the server was full. Waited a bit and by miracle some one left and I could join. The stutter was gone but now I had high pings for every one. No one below 300. The lag from other cars was terrible. Got out to track just to put a qualifying time more then 1 second from my normal time. Started from 10th, thinking, ok, no worries, not going to stop and the medium-medium can last for as long as 45-50 minutes without any problems. Right, started attacking from lap 1. Managed to put several places but always with the heart in my mouth, so bad was the lag. Had tremendous difficulties to follow close to any car. And then came the first consequence. I was following Blaz and suddenly the distance to the Lister was null. Braked as hard as I could, dodged left to avoid Blaz but still hit him in the process (sorry man). Dropped back again. Started attacking once again. When passing Shark at the finish straight I thought I could not move right in time to not hit the Corvette. Think I still touch Shark, but was able to pull off in time and overtake him. Gained position again and now was starting to get close to Rich. Lag made it difficult once again. When trying to make position to pass Rich had to make another evasive manoeuvre and spinned. I was becoming to get infuriated with the PC. Attacking once again and voila…what I was afraid happened. The PC frozen and nothing but a hard reboot to solve it. Don’t know what cause such a lousy performance but ruined my race completely. I was very optimist for Barcelona. I could very well qualified within the top 3 and ended in the top 3 also. I’m terrible disappointed with the final outcome.

For me this was a first race under 'Team Shark' brand. I wanted badly to perform well so I have practiced two hours straight prior to race, then attended usual pre-race practice. I have managed to end second in qualifications so my hopes for "on the box" finish were high. Unfortunately, three hours of racing tired my eyes so much I found it almost impossible to concentrate After 5 very consistent laps I span on lap 7, then 12 and 15. Completely off-pace and with slightly damaged suspension (and totally torn tires) I was only able to make my way to the finish line. Hence my 6th position. At least I managed to have third race lap time. Well, this is racing... At least I have gained some experience and next Tuesday practice will be early in the morning Greets to all you guys, especially Jon, Greg and Rich for superb performance.

P.S. how do I make a replay of the whole race??
Glad you enjoyed your first league race. There is a problem with GTR where the replay gets overwritten when the game moves to the next session. There is a server replay you can download here: http://www.ukgtr.org/replay/

Hi there.
First proper race for me & had a bit of a strange one(enjoyed it though).
Was doing ok (16th) then got bumped off the track coz I think i'm braking earlier than you guys(no-ones fault).
Then was holding my position in 3rd(from last.. ha ha) & then my DELL happily interupted & told me that my pc needed an update or something & all I could hear was my car ramming into a barrier! I then spent the next three minutes with the 1fps bug watching you guys cruising round havin a great time!!
Try disabling anything that uses the internet.. i.e automatic updates, antivirus auto updates, windows msn messenger and messenger. You find these in control panel/administrative tools/services. Hey Luis, computer froze. Check temps on CPU and GFX card, try enabling fast writes in bios, could be CPU needs little more vcore [volts]. Could be a number of things and you can bet it won't be a one off. If you still have probs catch me on msn and i'll try and help. [email protected]I think maybe i'll do a guide to setting up OS. Good race for me finishing third but mostly due to many mistakes made by other drivers. Good start and then I lost it coming off a bump, that one more click rear fast rebound was too much.. no grip. Then got going again and was behind you Blaz. I sat patiently watching you burn up your tyres, lots of smoke and then you span out giving me third. Pushed quite hard, car felt good though not perfect.. managed to catch you Greg but I couldn't make a pass in time 0.3 seconds very close finsih. - well done for 2nd and well done Jon great race pace.

I already found the culprit, but thanks for you help, Rich Always available to give an hand. I installed a brand new memory last night: Gskill TCCD PC4400. Yesterday night I was fiddling with bios to check how far I could push these babys. I tested several settings and found a good latency 2-3-2-5 at 450Mhz - 225FSB. Then I pushed a little more and went for 2.5-3-3-7 with 500MHZ - 250FSB. However I noticed that although the CPU and memory were fine with that clock my Asus wasn't particularly happy (yeah, I should have gone for a DFI to have a good overclocking base). However it was a bit late at night and I went to bed leaving the same setting. Today when I got home I don't even remembered I had left the Bios settings at the higher speed and went straight to race. Only after the hang I remembered I had left the Bios unchanged from the last setting. Reverted back to 2-3-2-5 at 450 MHz and just come from a 40 minute race at Spa (online) where every thing have run smooth as silk. A pity I didn't remember it sooner and before entering the server for the race.

This was just after 9pm but it was on RaceCast so it might well've been stale data. As it turns out the driver who was having problems wasn't using the simulation lobby - I realised later that nowhere in the rules does it explicitly state that we use Simulation mode so I've updated them to match.

I don't think the high pings was just you Luis. When we reach 24 drivers it's the absolute limit of the server and it really is teetering on the edge of being unable to cope. 23 drivers it's much better, 22 perfect, but 24 you get about 300ms pings to people. It's just workable. When passing Shark at the finish straight I thought I could not move right in time to not hit the Corvette. Think I still touch Shark, but was able to pull off in time and overtake him.
Actually you didn't hit mit, sorry that was my fault, I wanted to let you through as you were clearly faster than me and I wanted Team Shark to get further up the points so I eased off the throttle thinking you had already pulled out to go past and I would make it easy for you (being team mates), but obviously I should have waited till you were definately along side before doing so. I then flashed you to tell you it was safe to pull back over onto the racing line, not sure you can see flashing in the mirrors tbh.

Sorry MC, the replay shows my tap- was trying to do what I could to avoid you Very strong field indeed last night, just broke into the 1:39's and that was only good enough for 12th! Like a few others it seems I just don't 'get' Barca. Enjoy driving it but don't find I have the pace. Anyway, onwards and upwards!

i think we should forget the reserve drivers joining a fulltime race, i think a few fulltimers couldn't race because the server was full. i had FPS problems in quali , so i went out the game, but couldn't get in becuase it was full. and that was the end of my 1e season 2 race

Thats exactly what put me out of my NGT Sprint race Rather than ban reserves, I think it needs to be stated that drivers must ONLY join during Practice. Once qualifying starts, no new drivers can join the server. If that is done, then any driver who gets kicked during qually will be able to rejoin. My view on this is that those who are on the server once qualifying starts have booked their place.

Well that went a whole lot better than expected. Decided to take the Corvette for a spin, since I know I can do a fair few laps without losing it. Did a PB in qualification which I was pleased with, but still only good enough for 20th place on the grid. Started well, nipping past Mo at the first turn and continued on the road in a rather loose, twitchy way. I think it was at the end of the 1st, or maybe 2nd lap there was a bit of trouble at the end of the start/finish, got through ok, upto 16th. Carried on and became aware that I was at the front of a fairly long traffic jam with me being just quick enough to stop the next car get through. A few laps of this and the yellow Saleen behind me just very slightly tagged me going into the 2nd gear left-hand hairpin (need to learn the names of the corners really ), I think it was my fault cos Id come of the right hander slightly sideways and needed to settle myself before the hairpin. Lost 4 places here which I was real pissed about, but at least I didnt spin......
The rest of the race was basically fairly lonely. I was 20 secs behind the previos car, and 5 secs ahead of the next. So just drove steady and consistant, knowing there would be a certain amount of wastage.
So I was a bit of a tortoise tbh. Slow and steady, but came in 9th No spins, no major mishaps.
Fairly chuffed tbh.
