What I have noticed is during practice the pit entry, exit and speed rules are always more relaxed.
Spending more time in the Dallara in recent weeks I was often confused why I could practice and be setting very consistent times, yet in the race I would be slower.
During the race the car feels more stable too. I was convincing myself it was just me driving with a little more caution without giving any thought to doing so.
Then reading the forums I picked up on parts of a thread that said that during practice, certain conditions are not replicated. I.E altitude and wind etc.
I thought it was odd, but in all aspects I'd like to be able to practice like for like so I know how much I can get away with,

Just my apologies to Brendan, I went wide and off track on last corner of lap 2, only to hit wall, and come back onto the track, he had to make a decision left or right and ended up hitting the pitwall entrance, apologies.

Sorry Paul I think that was me, hadn't I just passed another recovering Legend and this put me off line. I find that corner hard enough when on a more normal line and thus took it steady. I saw you sideways in my mirror and I didn't know if that was because of me or not.
Hey not your fault Pete in any way! I should have been much more cautious. I had been following Dan through there every lap of the race up until that point so it was up to me to engage brain and consider I was following different cars and adjust accordingly. I didnt give it any thought at all until the very last second then it was "oh carp...hit brakes....spin!" Definately my own doign that one, was glad to not knock you off!

I didn't realise you needed to be registered as the download link seemed to be live when I wasn't but nothing happened when I clicked it(does that make sense?).
Should be fixed now, no need to register.

I was thinking about my experience in this race (& when we did Watkins, which I enjoyed a lot) & was wondering how many people actually overtook somebody? (not including when they made a noticeable mistake) Does the Indy Car help replicate F1's no overtaking races too easily?

Does the Indy Car help replicate F1's no overtaking races too easily? No, because you can follow in the tow. No, because you have bigger differences in setup. No, because you have brakes you need to press a long way before the corner still. No, because you have a lot bigger differences in talent.

As I said in the F1 thread, overtaking isn't meant to be easy... it's just meant to be possible.
Check out how close Simon and I are throughout much of the second stint, then think how often you see cars able to travel that closely in F1...

I've been passed plenty of times in the Dallara so it's certainly possible!

Will be interesting to see what the V8 Supercar is like for racing/overtaking , Got a feeling its going to be a tricky car to drive with its spool diff so should create more overtaking opportunities .

I think the V8 could produce some good racing although having been'stung to some extent by the changes to the Dallara I'm tempted to say let's leave any new cars a season to 'mature' before we use them in an SRouk league.

Hopefully the V8SC will be awesome - I just hope it doesn't turn out like the Corvette, with no steering feel and horrible on-throttle oversteer.

If they get it right with the way the diff is locked it should be a tricky car to get turned in, it will always want to push a lilttle which means using the throttle and brakes to transfer weight before the corner more important. It should be oversteery on exit but it should be controlable ...fingers crossed. Going on what Ben collins said when he tested one for Autosport last year. A good read if youve still got the mag.
