I vote Lotus 79.

I know I'm a bit lonely in my affection for it but what the hell.

Not lonely, just a little weird Grin

You realise if the IndyCar doesn't win the poll you will force me to do the IndyCar series again at iRacing so get your votes sorted so I can have a fixed racing schedule rather than a haphazard one. Tongue

Is there really no entertaining having an endurance series where we do 80+ minute DP races and advertise it heavily at the iRacing forums for a Saturday or Sunday races and still have the IndyCar for Tuesdays?

Driving the Lotus is like trying to wrestle a rabid camel around the isles at Tesco.

I don't see it like that at all. The Lotus is more like a boisterous puppy who keeps pulling you this way and that but can be controlled with a firm hand. The Dallara on the other hand is a Doberman who behaves if you treat it nicely but as soon as don't it bites you in the nuts  Shocked

You must have very firm hands and a badly behaved Doberman then. I've obviously been using too much Fairy Liquid and making sure my dogs are correctly disciplined. laugh

The Lotus lets you get away with a lot just by lifting off a bit. Because it slides around there is a lot of warning about potential problems, even at high speed. The main problem is the slow speed stuff where it understeers a lot and has little steering feel.

My problem with the Lotus is it feels totally alien. It steers so violently that it's just no fun at all.

The 'violent' steering at high speed isn't why I dislike it - it's the absence of steering feel at low speed.

I like the new lower series poll. Can we have a similar poll for upper series (cars you would be prepared to race) Smiley

The steering is light at low speeds but you only have to look at the relative sizes of the front and rear wheels to see why.

The fast steering is great though.  You think the car round corners and if it goes wrong you can drift it.  It's wonderful.

The Dallara's just a customer car.  The Lotus is a purpose built, thoroughbred racing car; one of the few in iRacing.

I assume in the dictionary you're using Paul under the definition of "drift" it reads "this means to crash heavily into a wall". laugh

I was trying to think of a witty answer to that but failed dismally.

Drive it properly with a sensible setup and it's a joy to drive.  You just have to learn to trust it.
