If we go for the DP in the upper series, why not keep to the sportscar theme and use the Radical?

Lower series races about 40mins, Upper series about 1hr?

Overall I like the Mazda... but my biggest fear of the Mazda being considered a "lower series" car, is that we're going to end up down the same route we've been this season... two cars that are too tough to drive.

This is a general comment and not directed at Chris, but I don't see how either of the cars we are using now are that tough to drive.

I think we've done that subject to death, several times...

Yes, that's why I don't want to unlock the voting, tactical re-evaluation Smiley

The winner will be simply the one with the most votes, if there's a tie I'll deal with that somehow.

Lengthening the 'upper' races has been floated already and will probably happen.

I voted 'tactically' for everything except the Mazda.

I would like to race all of them. 7 rounds. One season. Lets go.  Grin
It's not often I'll back Oily for saying something sensible Wink, but I think he may have something.

We've been doing two six race seasons (i.e. six skippy races & 6 Indy races), so sticking with six race seasons...

Why not have the DP as one season (as the voting seems to be going).
Then the Mazda+Late Model+Radical making up the other six race season. Two races with each, we get a champion who is able to adapt to the different cars. Plus you get to pick the tracks that suit the cars the best, not to mention people are getting to experience more content & are not getting stuck with a car they don't want for half the season (i.e. like the Skippy has ruled out a good few people every other Tuesday this time). thumbup1

Learning a new car for every race sounds like a rather ingenious way of creating more incidents to me. Also, not sure how many are as tight fisted as me and don't want to buy all of those car or simply don't want to own or race half of those cars?

Not sure when new season starts but I've rather hung all my remaining iR interest (which is isn't a lot to be honest) on the V8's. Any chance of racing them?

Or it could be a rather ingenious way to encourage people to practice & be prepared beta1 Wink

If people could practice in and be prepared for the Class D car, that virtually everyone with a D+ license has raced at some point in their iRacing 'career', what chance of it in a bunch of disparate cars with totally different characteristics and setup approaches? no

The V8's will go in the pot to be considered for the season after next, I want to give it a full season after introduction to get tweaked before we race it.

I think the relatively low turnout in the Dallara was (partially at least) caused by the changes between when we elected to race it and the season starting.

I shall assume you've just returned from the pub or something Legz but I'll go along with it just for the novelty Grin.

Interesting reading the comments, I'm a bit surprised you guys are concerned it's beyond people to move from one car to another - even within the SROU stable of sims you've got handling characteristics at each end of the spectrum and the vast majority are moving between titles in addition to cars on a daily basis.  Whether we'll have time to hone the setups to the nth degree I don't know but you'd hope within a week it would be possible to drive those cars mentioned without being a liability.

Can totally understand if people would just prefer to stick to the one car as that's the challenge you're looking for, or if cost is an issue but sometimes I think it's good to at least consider something a bit different before writing it off. It's not such an out there idea and might actually be entertaining. Particularly in this case as we could do with a feel for what works in terms of racing, driving experience and popularity. Should point out I definitely wouldn't like to see people isolated because they can't quite stretch to the cars/ tracks  but I've been getting the impression of late that we're all quite well stocked...perhaps that's not the case.

How about a "rate your top six cars you've not got in order of how likely you are not to purchase them and how envious you are that others have purchased" poll ?  Grin

Time as always is limited for me so different cars/tracks is a great idea but a bad option for me! plus
Driving the same car each week actually makes set up slightly easier and I also get a better feel for the said car!
The Indy car is a good example for me... love driving it, still have set up troubles but do feel I get slightly better each week as I am able to get a better feel for the car!

Just my 2 pence worth! Smiley

I'm in the 'pick a car and stick with it' camp.

For me, the prohibiting factor is the cost of buying new content each season.  As SROU racing is all the racing I do (for a variety of reasons) I find the purchasing of a couple of tracks and maybe a new car each season within what I would call value for money.  Buying a new car or 2 for only a couple of races diminishes that value somewhat.

The above is all IMHO of course and I can understand why those of you who have 'maxxed-out' as it were, would want as much use out of their content as possible.
