NVIDIA sucks! I gotta buy an ATI card.
What NVIDIA do you have Mike? I had many issues with my 8800GTS, but last 2 months I am using a 240 GT DDR5 and its a bomb. Every settings at full and everything running smoothly and nice with an average 200 FPS, at some tracks I get 300 FPS.

I sometimes run single, but lockup that way too. I need to check if my motherboard is PCI Express version 2 so I can get a new card. Forget the SLI and Crossfire. Damn marketing boogers took my money.

Sorry to hijack this thread with my computer issues, but I'm starting to get frustrated with it. I paid top dollar for this carp so I expect it to work. I just looked up my motherboard (it is an nForce 780i SLI) so you'd think NVIDIA's graphics cards would work with their motherboards, but I guess not. Anyways, it is PCI Express 2.1 compatible so any other suggestions for a video card?
I will be donating an NVIDIA 8800GTS to each of my kids. Maybe I will be able to tag them in COD then. Not likely though. They are too fast.

Quite a few of us have had issues with the 8800 cards Mike, I had an original GTS and even changing the HSF didnt really help.
Currently running a ATI 4890 and have everything on high with no problems.

I've been running a GTX 275 for 6 to 8 months with no problems - had everything maxed but had to cut back on the shadows for Le Mans, too realistic going under the trees. I get similar results to PR; racing off line in the dark, at Le Mans, my lowestest frame rate was around 100 fps.

@mike do you use the nhancer? http://www.nhancer.com/?language=eif i wanted to buy a new graphic card tomorrow, i would buy a Radeon 5750. fast, cheap and excessively low-current. or a Radeon 5770 - a little bit faster... or a 4870 fast & very cheap atm the 58xx & GTX 4xx are too expensive at the moment

I had loads of problems with my 8800GTX. The only thing that fixed it was buying a ATI card (4890)

Thanks for the info guys. I'm glad to see I'm not alone and replacing solved your problems.

Here's a tip I read recently when choosing an older ATI card regarding their respective product codes. Always check out the 2nd number. If it's an 8 then it's a top product for gaming whilst a 6 means it's a budget gaming card and I think a 4 means it's for general applications eg not a specificly strong card for gaming. Hope this helps.

I have an 8800 GTX - the problem is that they run VERY hot, which causes them to lock up. I have a ruddy great desk fan which I position next to the air vents on my computer whilst racing. Since I've done this I've not had a lock up. Elegant and quiet it aint - but it is effective.

I had a 8800 GTX card for last couple of years till I replaced it 2 months ago, it kept crashing iracing and causing massive colour and pixelation problems. I love my Radeon 5870 The 5890s were too expensive at the time.
