Moderator's Report

SUMMARY

Another impressive drive to victory for Evil Clive he was pushed very hard by Goran Jonsson who claimed his first podium in the Amateurs. Having just moved up from the Novices this season, Goran is proving more than a match for the established Amateurs, well done! After an eventful race Hristo recovered from a disastrous first couple of laps to claim the final spot on the podium.

Jethro Walters and Al Heller – Varikkokaarre – Lap 1

Jethro is following Al Heller down the back straight and closes up under braking into Varikkokaarre. Contact is made and Al is catapulted out of the race.

There is no contact on the server replay but there was a catastrophic accident on Al’s client replay. Clearly warp was a significant factor here but why did it occur? The overhead camera views clearly show Jethro is very close behind Al when compared to the distances maintained by the other drivers. Whilst he is not closer than the one car length advocated in the “Recommended Driver Behaviour”, it was far too close if Jethro wasn’t intending to attempt a pass. This coupled with Jethro’s rather ropey wireless internet connection meant that the risk of warp contact was very high.

Jethro should have realised he was creating a situation where warp contact was inevitable. It is the responsibility of all drivers to be mindful of the risks of warp contact and to drive accordingly. If your internet connection is very bad, please don’t race.

Note due to the accumulation of yellow card points (currently 24) this penalty triggers a one race ban. Jethro will miss the next Amateurs round at Laguna Seca.

Note: the overhead camera views are available via a link on the Moderator’s pages.

Steve Bird and James Rye – BP-Mutka - Lap 3

James is looking for a way past Steve, he takes a good drive out of VW-Mutka which allows him to get along side Steve through the next left hander, Curren Kurvit. Steve realizes James is there and he gives him enough room. As they approach the next right hander, BP-Mutka, they are practically side-by-side with Steve on the favourable inside line. James turns in and makes contact with Steve’s rear wheels sending both cars off.

When two cars are battling for position it is incumbent on both drivers to keep to their own side of the track. Steve did stay on his own side but James moved across too early, probably because he thought he was past Steve but he clearly wasn’t. The golden rule here is if you can’t see the other driver in your mirrors, you are NOT past and you should stay on your own side of the track.

 Angry Sad Grin
Congratulations to podium ones and all .

Well I couldn’t join the race as my router settings got corrupted somehow.
Unfortunately it took me quit a bit of time to realise that…
Even lost internet access and had to reset the router to its basic defaults .

What a pitty  , as my PB was 1-20-15 at keimola  .

Well , everything works again now . hope it will stay ,lol.
