Took an age to get on terms with this slippery track , decided to take the Coop and save credits because in all honesty I was having big trouble in getting 3 consecutive laps without sliding off into the boondocks .

Very suprised to get P2 in qually and got a great start to get into the lead but Mike was faster in the Brabby and soon caught up , We had a good until I slid wide and let him through , it took an age to re join and Mike was gone but soon after I caught him up again (thought he too had an off ) I got a good run down to the chicane and was able to squeeze through under braking but we touched and I think Mike spun out but no damage . Mike got his own back later when I ran wide and left the door open going into that killer corner at  the top of the track , should have seen him but didnt, I moved back onto the apex but Mikes car was inside , we touched and I took off then landed upside down on what would have been a very sore head . Glad I didn't spoil your race Mike it was a stupid elementary mistake from me .

Sorry to see you robbed of a the race win , cruel luck , and even more so as we didnt get a soggy 1-2

Big grats to Vosb on his first win , hope theres many more to come  Smiley

see you guys at the "Ring"

Ray Cattini Is Ronnie and I got the password from where I was told it would be. Congratulations to you anyway. Must have overheated the engine in qulayfying because for it go on the third lap of the race was grim on my part (missed gaer what an idiot). See you at the Ring where its only six laps............but long ones!
Ronnie I've linked your driver name to your SROU forum name so you now appear in the standings, it will pick it up automatically in future.

UPDATE: both replays are in the usual place (http://www.jamesonline.net/ukgpl/2010.04.25_donington_grads/) so any incident reports by close of play 2 May please. Sorry for being remiss and not finalising the modding for Monaco yet, should have this shortly...

Pleased to qualify 4th in the Cooper. Looked a bit of an enduro event so I decided against any heroics at the start. Was comfortable tailing Tim & Jethro during opening stint when a recovering Bob got past at the chicane - he was clearly quicker so short of instantly finding another half a second a lap or blocking him for the next 35 laps he was always likely to get past. Dropped a few places with a spin at T1 - thanks to King Hiro for doing the "Ol' Switcheroo" & letting me nip back past. After that I lapped pretty consistently though had a scare going past Rick as he vanished just as I got alongside - was expecting a sickening crunch any second but luckily he beamed back to earth behind me.

Chuffed to see Vos win Privateers - well done Tim Smiley. I will admit to a large chuckle that your victory champagne had actually gone out of date by the time you won though - maybe you should have bought a tin of evaporated milk instead Cheesy.

Well, that was more than a lucky win for me Grin

a) I had done very little practice and it was only in the qually period that I began to get some sort of performance out of the Waza.
b) I was still way off the pace of Hristo and was convinced that the Brabhams and Coopers would be all over me like a rash. Undecided
c) When the race started I managed to just about hang on to Bob and Hristo for the first 3 laps, which pulled just enough of a breathing space back to Tim and Al.
d) Bob then managed a spin at T1 that elevated me to 2nd spot, still losing ground to Hristo who was by now out of sight  Roll Eyes
e) Bob, Al and Tim seem to have given each other enough grief to occupy themselves whilst I eased out a cushion.
f) Hristo then manages to test the barriers and bend his nice shiny white Waza, elevating me to 1st..and I still have not passed a single car in race mode!!.
e) During the last few laps, Bob finds the afterburner switch on the dashboard of his Brabham and is closing the gap at an obscene rate.
f) Bob makes his move with 3 laps to go as we take the uphill right hander onto the straight, but slides the tail out which clips the front of my Wazamobile..... wait for warp launch into the boondocks, but nothing happens Shocked
g) ..........until he gets a little too heavy on the gas whilst trying to blast down the straight and spins !!! allowing me to regain 1st spot with about 3 secs lead and now 2 laps to go.
h) Despite a blistering last 2 laps from Bob, he cannot get close enough to mount a challenge and I squeak across the line with less than 0.5 secs lead!!
Plus I had guessed at my fuel load and was short shifting until Bob caught me in an attempt to stretch out the fuel consumption..just in case.
I really expected to be trampled under a horde of faster cars here and was amazed to even be in with a shout of a podium, let alone a win lol. Big grats and commiserations to Bob who was definitely the quickest man still standing and to Tim for finishing on the podium.
At least SHE should be pleased as "because all our victories are belong to her". Wink

Awesome drive, Evil, I had no idea you had it difficult in the closing laps of the race. Now I have to win all of the remaining races and use these bad results for my 2 worst score drop off.  Tongue

I'm due at least one win after my engine related embarrassment at Monaco  Grin
(I wonder if I can report my own car to Tim for moderating?  Cheesy )

Just a shame I'll be at the 'Ring for real during the next race, I recon a Lotus might have given me enough of an edge there Wink angel

What times are you down to in the Lotus?  Cool

I seriously doubt I can win all of them in a Honda, it's not so much a problem of pace than motivation and focus. Instead of just bringing it home at Donington I kept pushing for records just to keep myself entertained and that backfired.

Unfortunately this track does seem prone to screen freezes but I've found this can be made less likely by setting the Detail Bias in the GPL->Options->Graphics window to about 25%.  It makes no noticeable difference to the quality of the graphics (at least I can't tell) but it seems to prevent the deadly screen freeze.

I suggest we all adopt this approach when we are racing on a new circuit for the first time (e.g. Anderstorp, Carthage 1935 to name a couple).  As far as we know the new tracks we have chosen this season are all OK but it is better to be safe than sorry.  Especially if you have put in a lot of praccy.

Anderstorp is particularly prone to freeze, but I hope we'll be OK. We didn't have any problems with Carthage when we it was ran in oAo 1-2 seasons ago. It takes a while to learn though, especially your braking and turn-in points, so practice it well in advance.

had a scare going past Rick as he vanished just as I got alongside - was expecting a sickening crunch any second but luckily he beamed back to earth behind me.

After several not so graceful blue flag yields I developed that technique...  just vanish, then reappear behind!

Well done and congrats Evil!

Well it's an absolute miracle that I finished the race through the hotel server.  I started from the rear on purpose so as not to take a chance causing a total wipe out of the field if I warped out at the start, but honestly my PB would have had me next to last anyway.  With more quality practice on my home machine I might have been only a 1/2 second faster. Damn you guys can race!

Nothing to report but slow laps and more concern for my connection than my racing.  Spent a lot of time watching my mirrors.  Somewhere around lap 30 my connections meters went waaaay up.  I was alone so I let it ride waiting for a kick out.  But after many seconds it all returned to normal.

Hoping for a better showing next time but the Green Hell has never been kind to me.

Congratualtions to Vos for his maiden win. Proves the old adage that to win you first have to finish.
Commiserations to Michael - I sort of know how you feel. I got the dreaded screen freeze on lap 22 - a bit easier to swallow than when running 1st on lap 40 plus.
Took me 5/6 laps to work out the brake point & turning point for the chicane. Whilst I was working this out I dropped to the back of the field. Having worked out the said problem I was lapping on par with the rest fairly consistently & picked up some places until the screen freeze. I can usually conjure up my own mistakes without the PC adding to them. On Phil's advice I've dropped the detail bias to quite low levels.
Now just to learn the Ring !!!

I'm not sure what Evil Clive is putting on his cornflakes but his recent stats have been mightily impressive; from his last 20 UKGPL races he's taken 17 podiums, including 8 wins, 5 poles & 4 fastest laps. And once again he took the consistency prize here, closely followed by Full Metal Gasket & King Hiro. Hristo continued to find bad luck in the race though in qualifying carved some 0.7 sec off the Honda World Record laptime.

Perfect consistency score (for both Works & Privateers) would be 215

Over in Privateers, Michael Turner can take some consolation from winning the consistency prize. Vosblod remains the only driver who can claim a 100% finishing record, in fact after 3 rounds he remains the only Privateer to have finished a race.
