Race three and onto Donny. John R leads the Works by 33 points but rumour has it he has gone to Tibet to study Chih-Nii so the field is still wide open. In his Privates Bookie has left his flies open with a 12 point lead and two podium finishes.

Race List = IGOR
Server = UKGPL_T7_2
IP address = 62.149.202.168
Race date = 25-04-2010
Time = 21:00 UK time (BST = GMT+1)
Track = Donnington
Variant = 67F1
Damage Model = PRO
Qualifying time = 35 minutes. Don't start until 30 mins left on clock to allow everyone to join.
Race length = 50 minutes (laps 43)

Password: see above

Driver lists can be found on the championship standings page
The track can be downloaded from : http://srmz.net/index.php?showtopic=1287
Add-on’s available at : http://srmz.net/index.php?showtopic=3287

Please be in IGOR UKGPL chatroom by 8:50 pm UK Time = GMT).

Reserve drivers should not join the server until there are only 30 minutes of qualifying left. Please restrict chat to pit messages. Moderating will be by reported incidents only, however the moderators reserve the right to review any incident with a particular emphasis on lap one. The aim is to review the race the following weekend so incident reports should be submitted within five days of the race (ie the following Friday). We're hopeful most incidents can be resolved amicably and recommend a days deep breath with a replay review before posting. A sorry in the forum won't be taken as an automatic admission of guilt by the moderators.

With the token system chassis strategy will be a factor. A driver must have sufficient tokens for the chassis he drives in the race.  Any driver who does not have sufficient tokens will be disqualified from the result and his tokens will be set to zero.

Chassis costs;
Lotus 20 / Eagle 17 / Ferrari 15 / Brabham 10 / Cooper 5 / Honda 3 / BRM 0

To see your current tokens hover your mouse over your total points on the championship standings page. Ten tokens will be added when you cross the start line.

The Championship is split into two sub-divisions, namely Works and Privateers. The driver split will be;

NOTE: In the event of more then 19 entrants a second grid will be run for the Privateers on ukgpl.5. If you can try to make sure you are in the chatroom by 8.50pm this will enable a decision without any delays to the start time.

N.B.

According to the blurb , the "add ons" convert the  "bolards" (and the same to you to mate) into solid items , stops any would be chicane dodgers  Roll Eyes

Yes I had noticed the bollards were more for "guidance" purposes.
Don't know if its me but Donny seems to have a distinct lack of grip in the 67 cars.
Hopefully we'll get enough drivers for a split grid. If not the Works will have their work cut out lapping the Privateers. I usually try and move aside but if you do this too late it can go horribly wrong. Will adopt the  stay on line & ease off the gas on the straights approach? Comments welcome.

What I would to not see anymore is backmarkers slowing down completely while they're in front of leading cars, sometimes at a big distance ahead, but reacting to the very first blue flag. I had a few hairy moments like that in Keimola Amateurs.

It's much safer to just keep your line and slightly lift up ONCE a leading car is making a pass, to let it by. The other safe opportunity is on corner exits if you choose to compromise your exit and keep the inside line. But any changes of lines on straights and into/during corners, plus sudden slow down, is very unpredictable.

What do you mean by addons, Bernie? Graphics addon for Donnington? I've ran the track before and the cones (or whatever they are) on the edge of the track are not solid, so you can go through them. As for lack of grip, I think it's mostly because there are no cambers in the corners at all, so generally you need to turn in early, then let the car drift to slow down and hit the apex. Early acceleration helps as usual. The tricky part is cutting over the curbs just enough to keep 2 wheels on the tarmac, otherwise it gets rather illegal.

A good question.
I would imagine that, as the "solid" bollards are an optional add on, then they are not mandatory?, but it would be good to know. Undecided

Well there's no rule as there is at Kyalami so it's up to you. I understand the 'originals' are not solid so we're not going to make an add on that puts them in compulsory...

So it doesn't matter if you install the solid ones on the server, we won't have solid if we don't install them on our end?

I'm pretty sure T7 is just the original (a big hand to Fulvio for installing all the S18 tracks  thumbup2), so if you haven't got a stiffy on your end it will definately be floppy...

I was going to set up UKGPL_4 as a praccy server but Vos has already got UKGPL_6 up to I'll leave mine off.

On the bollards topic, it doesn't matter what we have set on the server.  The drivers will only see what is on their client PC.  Moreover ALL the collision engine processing is done on the CLIENT PC.

Just in case anyone isn't clear what this means.  If driver A has the "Solid" bollards in place but driver B doesn't, then driver B can drive through the bollards with impunity.  The server doesn't care.  When driver A plays back the server replay on his client PC, he will see driver B miraculously driving through the "solid" bollards seemingly unaffected.  This is how we know if someone has removed the pit wall at Kyalami.

At Donington the standard track doesn't have solid bollards so as Vos has already said we will not ask anyone to put them in (it would only make a PRO race harder to finish and won't necessarily improve anyone's enjoyment of the event).  What we don't want is anyone gaining an unfair advantage by cutting the corners too much.  After the race if you feel you were disadvantaged by someone cutting the corners, please submit an incident report.

As an aside the collision engine on the client PC has big implications for warp incidents.  If you don't know what I'm talking about, please read this.

I was joking, don't worry! We've ran this track several times in oAo and the rule was simple - keep at least 2 wheels on the track at all times. I would count curbs as part of the track as well, so you can kinda drive almost all over them, at the last chicane for example. It's not just faster, but also a safer line. Ah well, I'm sure it's going to be fine.
