Moderator's Report

Drivers are reminded that flashing of lights should be done only as an attempt to warn a slower driver ahead that a faster driver is approaching, and should not be used to distract an opponent as part of a contested pass for position.

Server replay time: 150s

The start was, to put it mildly, a mess. Having studied the replay in detail, there was no single culprit or cause, so instead of issuing warnings or penalties, I'm going to make some general comments aimed at avoiding a repeat performance, and will also revisit the official start procedure in time for Season 2.

The principle cause was having a fairly fast corner before the final turn, which caused a serious concertina effect, the field getting slower and slower into the final turn until eventually it ground to a halt and collected the later runners.

Aajay was very unlikely to be turned into a floating aerial sculpture.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 170s

After the final turn, there was further contact on the main straight as the pack moved towards the start line.

Mo, who is leading the field, has a short spurt of acceleration before reaching the line. Greg reacts but then backs off again when he realises that Mo hasn't actually gone for it, and Ginsters follows suit. Nick sees Ginsters start speeding up and assumes the race is on, running into the back of Ginsters when he slows again, which in turn causes Ginsters to run into Greg.

It is critical that the leader maintains a steady pace out of the final turn, and that each driver does the same as they form up behind.

Mo then actually starts at the wrong line, but this doesn't cause any additional problems.

  • mocaution — starting to accelerate before the start line
  • mocaution — not maintaining a steady speed out of the final turn

Server replay time: 640s

Mark Jonzo is drafting as-here down the back straight but never pulls out, instead braking a little too late and running into the back of as-here, taking both off and putting as-here out of the race.

  • Mark J (Mark Jonzo)penalty — rear ending as-here — 2 places lost
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded

Server replay time: 1348s

Jon Chadwick is trying to lap Popabawa as they come out of 4 and into Bilstein. He tries to force his way up the inside and there is contact.

Whilst I appreciate that Jon was trying to keep up with Mo and challenge for the lead, and Popabawa did have a fair lead in class, this was a rather impatient move given that there was the long Stadium Straight just a few seconds away where a safe pass could be (and was) made.

Server replay time: 1518s

Nick Phillips has just been passed by Greg130, and the pair now need to lap Locutos in his BMW as they approach Hasseroder. Locutos stays to the left and lets Greg by on the right, but Nick brakes too late and hits Greg hard from behind, taking both off.

What a waste of time that was. Been practising for the past fortnight, not particularly looking forward to the race as I was having trouble getting a set-up that would last the race, but I needn't have bothered.

Qualified around where I expected, took the first lap without any problem, just coming up to start the race proper, field in front of me slowed right down for some reason, slowed down appropriately behind them when WHACK! Whoever was behind me drove straight thru me, there I was vertical in the air, watching the field go below me as if I was in a helicopter. If it hadn't ruined a fortnights work it would be funny, as it is I'm NOT HAPPY. Retired there and then. Sad Sad Sad Sad but also  Angry Angry

Poxy bloody game!!!!!!!

All was going fairly well til the start, we moved off and i'd lost al feedback in the wheel. Just managed to get that going again whilst on the move and found that the grid suddenly came to a halt at the final turn, tried to stop but cold brakes and all that, sorry Shark Sad

Next thing i know someone slams into the back of me, taking the rear wing out, tried to lmp round to the pits but it wasn't having any of it and after going off again the engine just died in the middle of the track. The really gutting thing is that I was sitting 2nd in the table and needed to score well tonight if I was to get a top 5 season finish. Thats two bloody weeks running i've missed the endurance race cos of the game and it's tempremental nature   Angry

Disappointing again. Being used as a guiding rail by someone I was forced to quit. Spend a lot of time at practise because I wanted to give the Lister a try. All that has been a waste of time. Sad

Now I'm going to exercise my other favorite waste of time: watching TV  Wink

Well what was a lot more encouraging for me ended in error!!

Sorry to whoever was third on the grid, my bad - put my foot down on the first S/F line and whacked SBG and forced you off.

Had a really good race early on with Ginsters even managing to make it past at one point then got caught out on the kerbs and span.
Hit Greg (sorry again) when passing a slower car and put us in the gravel and next lap the splitter went.
But wait it gets worse.

Sped in pit line, lost 2 laps repairing car, pitted for stop go penalty and as the pit menu came up hit ESC. Fatal error

Oh well least the game ran sound and I was competitive at last.

Cheers

A lot of us having a disaster of a race then. :'( :'( :'( After some good times in practice over the weekend, including 2s improvement on my PB, struggled in qually before finally hooking up a reasonable lap at the fourth attempt and grabbing NGT pole.

I was worried about rear tyre wear but decided mediums on both ends was my only sensible option. Managed to avoid the pace lap carnage (quite unnerving driving under a hovering Ferrari! Shocked bad luck Aajay Undecided ) and promptly went off in the final turn on the next lap after allowing myself to be distracted by the GT cars coming back through the field as a result. That damaged the aero at both ends of the car and after that the balance just got worse and worse as the rears wore.

Eventually the car became so tail happy I spun allowing Shark past, and then I went off again after getting into a tank slapper coming out of the chicane after the back straight. Ripped the splitter off and pitted to replace it; I'd practiced the pit entry quite a lot and knew how to push in there to minimize time lost; pity, then, that I just didn't press the limiter button and broke the speed limit.

Already a lap down on Pops, I pitted again to take the stop and go, only to have the silly sods want to put fuel and tyres in and on, instead of serving the penalty. In the ensuing panic I pressed Escape without really thinking, hoping that it would make the paper "job sheet" thing go away, but instead of course it retired me.

By my reckoning I'll get credited with 4th, which means that with two rounds to go, Jamera is out of the title hunt Sad but Pops is back in - assuming he won. I really need to wrap this one up at Estoril because I don't think I'm going to want to do the final race as I'll need to leave for Egypt the following morning at about 4am. Shocked

That was one of the most spectacular pile-up's at the start I've ever seen  Shocked. Luckily Dave had his wits about him and I just followed through - Phew.

Bit disappointed not to get NGT pole but after a decent first session I seemed to be stuck in traffic just when I was getting a decent lap together.

Surprised to see Dave go off on lap 2, after that I gradually pulled away on the other NGT's for a pretty comfortable win in the end. One hairy moment when I got a low speed tap form a GT, otherwise I drove pretty well.

Very pleased as Oschers is my least favourite track and my incredibly conservative race tactics worked, partly because so many others had a bit of a disaster so I was a bit lucky I guess.

Still, keeps it interesting for the NGT title for at least another round! (sorry Dave!)

Nice one Mark Jonzo - an NGT Legends 1-2 I think  Grin

Phew that was a hell of a tough race...talk about total concentration the whole race to avoid going off, still had several silly spins.
I have to apologise to As-here, really sorry mate, i was tucked up too tight behind you and when i hit the brakes the 'draft' just took me on too far under braking Embarrassed  I was desperately hoping to see you get moving out the same gravel trap i followed you into but it looked like your car didnt slow much in the gravel and broadsided the tyre wall Huh Felt very guilty everytime i saw your name in the pitlane as i went past Embarrassed
I had a quiet race after that as i lost about 20-30 secs in the gravel, then caught Luis Branco with about 5 mins to go and gaining on him every lap, let a GT past me then my tyres let go around the sweeping set of bends and span off with only a few mins to go...gggrrr.
Slightly gutted but enjoyed a tough race, coming in 10th which i'm pleased with for my first enduro at OSchers.

Well done Pops on your 7th place !

Will need to take a serious look at the replay for the formation lap problems. Qualified in 15th I think it was and we had a fine formation lap till last hairpin and suddenly the whole field in front of me just stopped. I tried my best but hit whoever was in front of me not too hard as I slammed on the anchors and then Jamera really whacked me up the arse spinning me around hard. Jamera stood as much chance as me at stopping so no blame there as it was an impossible situation. Dunno what then happened behind me cause the rest of the field seemed to want to wait for us to get back on (maybe they were recovering too, dunno).

Apart from that race went ok, had one off on my own at one point where I came back onto the circuit in an awkward position just in front of Luis which probably scared him a bit, but I had a good think about what to do there and couldn't see anyone behind cause of the angle, couldn't hear anyone and was better coming on there than round the next bend as that would have been straight across the track. Luckily Luis's skills avoided me (dont really know how close it was maybe not as close as I thought) and I ended up 40 seconds ahead of him at the end with my usual no-stopper in the BMW.

Well done Mo on the win, and JonC on the podium for Team Shark. I was lucky enough to witness a very nice passing maneover by JonC with about 5 to go. He was right behind Greg as they came to lap me and he managed to take advantage of both being offline to lap me, pulled along side Greg and took him into the nasty left hander with the bump (the one where you swing out right first). I was shouting "go Jon" as he went along side and then for them to both safely get through the corner with Jon in front excellent stuff chaps really high quality car control and gentlemenly racing.

That was me Nick, thanks.  I would say more but not in public, annoyed to say the least.

Onto the race.
Well after being wiped out at the start ended up in 13th and had to battle my way through the slower cars, not much fun on this track.
Was going along nicely and up to 6th when guess what, yes got wiped out again.  Well this really damaged my tactics.  I had decided to do a non-stop race, which I managed to do but the last few laps were a complete nightmare with damaged tyres.
Well a podium was on the cards but hey thats life.  Real shame would have been nice to keep the championship alive for a bit longer.

Does anyones replay show the formation lap, for some reason mine dosn't.

Where we get a situation like we did tonight on the formation lap would it be possible to have a code word or something to tell the leaders to do another formation lap to allow those that survive to race?Huh what do you think guys?Huh?

Don't feel to good after that.

Had a pretty crap quali which was compounded when Greg nipped in front of me. Not too worried, as that set up the prospect of a good battle with him for the race and the championship. Then completely lost interest when he slipped off (I will not discuss why here). To cap it all I had the wrong strategy.

At least Greg managed to recover and deservedly took some points off me. Congrats to teamy Mo Grin.

Yep it was a real shame SBG, would have been a good battle.  Still dont really know what happened at the start as my replay dosn't show it.  Guess it will all come out in the wash.

well grats to mo for the win, good race early on mo we were pulling away Tongue
then snatched a dodgy double down shift into the 1st corner locked the rears and was pointing the wrong way Embarrassed
that started a host of schoolboy errors which saw me hemmerage time to mo
settled down into a decent rythem about 17secs behind
caught back up for some reason ???1.8secs behind then coming up to lap a 360
he spun in front of me and i spun in sympathy Sad
pitted p2.  another spin on the pit lane entry Angry
came out 5th only got one spot back on pits ???no stoppers
realised this was the case when got to 4th and started catching Greg
good dice at the end Greg thought me day was over when i went off at the fast left hander

I was lucky enough to witness a very nice passing maneover by JonC with about 5 to go.

thanks boss it was the highlight of an otherwise scrappy race.grats 2 u
think u might just have nipped me fastest lap in the beemer as well Wink
grats to u to popa

the issues with the warm up lap could be resolved if the pole car just went
out of the last corner then everyone else could do the same
i'm not a big fan off backing the pack up to the line Undecided
i dont have chat on in car so wouldn't see any code words

Sorry Jam, that was me hit you on the formation lap. I glanced in mirror to check guys behind, then found you had stopped on final bend, why the field backed up like that I dont know, I had know where to go or time to react and I was going pretty slow. As for race, was good for 4 laps then span in a corner I never spun before, then blew a tyre just past the pit and had to crawl round whole lap to get a new set of boots, figured I'd fuel for rest of race to offset early stop, but car just never felt right, couple of spins, then another puncture....enough!
