For a while I was happy for your pursuit Bill, then....I saw on the XD that you were DQ.  Shocked
Unlucky Bill.

Race was a bit lonely except when Matt was chasing me and overtaking me. I guess I could kept him behind, Matra was better cornering but my 908 had better acceleration and top speed. Each time Matt got into my rear end, I hold him cornering and then pull away to the next corner. At least that was what I understood. I would like to know if all cars are at the same class, or not.
I am not really confortable driving these cars for the moment, very difficult to setup and to be honest, was one of those races that I was looking to the lap counter every lap, waiting for the end...not a good sign...but it is very early to get a definitive opinion.

IMO these cars deserve period tracks layout and at least races with pit stops and 50 to 60 mnts races.

Btw, I am for creating different classes at every race. Example, a class for Healeys, a class for 320s and so on, with single classification for each class. Just a humble opinion.

Congrats to podium and all finishers.

Cheers

I have no interest in strategy so sprints for me please. Personally, I would like to race at least one sim here where strategy wasn't an element     :'(

OK so we have some differing opinions. Let's consider this, Same circuit over every fortnight, first week is a sprint, second is longer with stops.

Circuits are as close to 1970 versions as I can get and are.....

Daytona
Sebring
Brands Hatch GP
Monza
Targa Florio substitute
Spa
Nurburgring
Le Mans
Watkins Glen
Zeltweg

Cars in two groups S5.0 and P3.0 which are described on the Brands Hatch August bank holiday announcement

Those tracks seem perfect choices for these cars Smiley I'm not in favour of running the same track two weeks on the trot as variety is the spice and all that. I'd happily take part in the odd enduro so maybe 2 sprints to one enduro is a good comprimise?

Anyways, the 3hr special sounds great  Smiley

August? heck, that's a long way off in UKGTL terms.
What else are we doing apart from readers wives?

Well they should do, they actually raced on them in 1970  Wink

Ok , that's another way to go which should be considered.

Wow! What a great car set  Shocked

Earsplittingly loud and extremely fast, oh yeah...

The Matra was surprisingly easy to drive if you kept the 'screaming french old lady' well within the car's envelope.
Cheated a bit with modern compound tires/gear peddles because I really wanted to race these cars and I had little practice time  Embarrassed

Then again, the race was quite demanding. Couldn't blink my eyes because I was afraid I missed the corner and tire wear? I really do not know....

Saw some cars crashing behind me in the first chicane and then tried to haunt PR (was that you? - I really do not know anymore). The it was driving in a bit of a void with some lapping of Henry who was enjoying a leisurely drive through the Italian grapevines. Would have waved but I was hanging on to the steering wheel.

3 hours at Brands? OMG!

Thanks Tony for setting this up. These beast really put a smile on my face.

Mmmm Long Beach doesn't have that Mediterranean feel. This league has a long standing friendship with Thermilito, we have raced there many times but still no, not quite what I'm after.

Aintree has that "Mediterranian feel" "La"
Is a classic old track and it's not far from the Sea, ok not as close as Sandyvoort
But you get to dodge rocks thrown by bandits just like the real Targa  laugh
Not tried our version, but it would be ablast to run there sometimes if it's any good.
And I've done part of it for real  Grin

other too great tracks:

Monthlery 1966
Clermont-Ferrand Cheesy

PS: now you would be grateful for a landscape column in the track list, he?  Grin

Not quite Mediterranian but "Coast" presents some Targa aspects I like

Takes a bit of learning & could be quite tricky in these cars, but Machwerk would make a good Targa Florio substitute!
