The worse way to finish a race is stupid s/g's

Tell me about it... Roll Eyes
However there are plenty of addon tracks that run perfectly, fortunately.

It wasn't until last night that I discovered the proper way out of the pits; so that you don't have to lurch out in front of people who are steaming down off the banking.  In case anyone else hasn't found it you keep to the left of the Armco and it will eventually feed you out before the first 180-Right.

That being said, since this is part oval, is there an approved method of getting off of the banking and down into the pits?  Seems like a good idea if people were to get off the racing line before they start to slow down.

Good call on clarifying the pit out lane. Thanks Clive.
Dropping down low off the racing line is the best way to enter the pit lane. Remember, there are no speed limits, but you must take care not to make contact in the pit lane.

Good to hear, that the podium-veterans are somewhat nervous about the handicapsystem ........ Grin Grin ...... but honestly guys, I don't think you need to worry about old Hotkeys.
My 1.59.xx was a one off, I can't to steady laptimes and i NEVER fail to mess things up at some point in a race longer than 15 minutes. I'll probably miss my braking point on one off the fast oval-parts, and doing that at 286/km/h makes you eat a lot off dirt and grass ......... if not concrete  Wink

I think that some of us will have a lot of free Thursday in the next weeks (at least I hope so...), but today there's the champ race in which are involved a lot of VDA P&G Lover. Hope that Pippomox, Bonni, or somebody of non engaged drivers can make this one to test the new format even with some of us.
Have fun guys Smiley

Well that was fun.

At least until I pitted. Then couldn't get my pit crew to work.

Raced offline and pitted OK. What did I do wrong.

Still it was nice being the leader for a change.

Seems like a good format.

B'ah cant believe it, didnt put a foot wrong for whole first half of race and then on the very lap i am going to pit, i miss my flipping braking point at T1 because some stupid message flashed up of someone pitting or leaving and it was enough to distract me for that split second  Angry I slithered across the grass at high speed and smashed into the tyre wall, aero and major suspension damage. Had intended to limp round but car just crabbed off the track, race over  :'(

Despite stuck near the rear of the field in my underpowered porker it was apparent that me and Ade in the other IROC were going to seriously benefit at the stops, both able to run many more laps than some of the guzzlers up front and i wasnt going to take tyres as they were in good shape. Would have been really interesting to see how it panned out near the end as the fast cars desperately tried to make up the lost ground. I think i was already top 5 before that intended stop as so many others had to pit early.

Shame. The GT40's looked mega in the banking  Cool Not totally convinced about running such a broad range of cars at every track. I think here i would prefer to have seen just the muscle cars racing as they totally suit the track. Only reason i didnt take a cobra or L88 was shear lack of praccy time. Only had time to try F275 and IROC and as it was a test/fun race plumped for the 911.

Cant believe a load of wallies still all hit each other at T1 when its an hour long race Roll Eyes ....'Calm down dear'  Wink

Can't say that I actually enjoyed that.

Went for the GT40 MK1 because it seemed to have the pace, and I did manage 2nd on the grid.  But it is a car that I don't like and for me is just about unraceable against anything but another GT40Mk1.  Every man and his dog had passed me after a couple of laps.

It does have a big tank so I was able to go until lap 20 before pitting.  Then, trying to make up my mind about changing tyres, I hit the escape button instead of enter and that was me finished.

So hard work, no fun and no result.

I think that running it so that the sun made T1 blind at one point was a spot of realism that I could have done without too.

Don't know if I have enough spare time to sort out the options in this format.  Mike has come up with a big challenge for me in my current state of development.

Not sure about "a load of wallies" I allowed people to pass me into T1 and then got shunted off. No damage, I have an hour
to catch up  whistling
Caught and passed some, then fell off... caught and passed some, then was in 2nd briefly after Stig pitted,
then was leading very briefly,. Pitted for 5 mins or so, as the crew changed everything including the headlamp bulbs
(slightly tarnished apparently) came out 10th or so, caught some, passed some as they did a later pit, ended up chasing
Mike Miller at about 17 secs ahead, with Ade 21 more secs up the road. was catching Mike enough to maybe pass one or two from the end, then fell off again.. eventually caught Mike on the final lap and crossed the finish half way up the side
of his car. After an hour, i don;t think you could have a closer finish. Ade played a superb long game, managing 5's mostly, so though we were reeling him in, we needed a few more laps to catch. Good race, really enjoyed it.

That was big fun for me. I battled with more cars and drivers tonight than any other race. Big congrats to Ade who proved that the right pace and pit strategy can earn a victory over the big power muscle cars on a track they are suited for.

I came together with someone with sided to side contact at the exit of turn 1 lap 1. I didn't see the replay yet, but it seemed like Matt was the victim in the red L88. I think we split a white GT40 MkI and then came back to center track not knowing each was there. It was great to see Matt come back to finish 3rd just a few tenths of a second behind me. All you needed was 1 more lap to close the deal.

The pit sequence really proved to be the deciding factor in this first test race. I know with more practice you guys will get used to them and get quick and comfortable. Like racing, it just takes practice and time. Usually, if your crew doesn't service you then you overshot the entrance. Be extra careful to hit your mark.

There were some nudges and there was some pushing in T1. Watching the replay I think I might have been the culprit. In that case apologies to all involved. I´ll try to remember good manners next race.

Thanks all for an enjoyable race and pitstops tactics aren´t that easy at all, I found out.

Cheers, Seniordan

That was great fun, although I did feel a little guilty taking the GT40 Mk2 as it was seriously quick here.

I quallied mid-pack and gained a few places after a few guys got together in turn 1, just missing Goldtop who tangled just ahead of me.

I spent the next few laps racing Pribeiro & Mike, as they were racing each other there was no way past, but I managed to pick my way past them, only to miss my braking point into T1 a couple of laps later so I ended up undoing all my hard work.

After that I steadily gained a few places until I was leading the race after Oilseal pitted  Grin wow! surely a first with PnG!

I pitted after about 20 laps, but having not practiced any pit stops I took it steady. I spent far too long sorting out how much fuel to put in, and decided to play it safe and changed all the tyres. Over a minute later I was down in 4th, but a long way behind Matt & Mike. Looks like I need to practice my pit stops!

Hats off to ade for the win, you must have had a storming pit stop  Cheesy

15 laps or so leading the race was a hole new and pleasant experience, but I still managed to loose my focus as usual and crashed the car. Had to sneak all the way to the pit to do a VERY long pitstop :- )).

I like the pitstop thing but really hate the 2 X tyrewear feature, probably beacuse I find it hard to drive a 'soft' raceline.

Pitted for 5 mins or so, as the crew changed everything including the headlamp bulbs

BTW ... remeber that you can chosse not to have the pitcrew repair or replace things. You need to change that ne the pitboard menu when it appears. But it can be a very diffucult decision to make, since you don't know beforehand, how long the repair is gonna take.
