That was a fun race .

Due to my lack of skills I was rewarded with the 911RSR  Grin
Everybody else would win this race in the car but i am very pleased ending midfield.

Made my pitstop midrace and also changed the tyres , just to make sure.  Suspension also needed work but estimated time for that was 90 secs so skipped that part.

Sorry for the tap in the last round, Pribeiro . I was a bit (way) too late with breaking...

See you all next season with hopefully the same format as this race.

Just looked at my replay and the lap charts and seen that on lap 20 I was eight seconds down on Ade when I went into the pits for 80ltr of fuel.  And died.

Despite being mugged by everyone at the start, it suggestst that the strategy was reasonable, just compromised by incompetence on my part.  For some reason I always expect to be able to navigate around the clipboard with the mouse.  When it finally sinks in that I have to use the up/down keys the panic sets in.

Bugger it!

What was that about Bottox while you were in the pits Clive? Your pit crew having face lifts were they?  Wink
Thanks Stig, I am used to the pitting from GTR2, I am rubbish at it, but I am used to it  Grin
I glanced at the board but saw no damage, even though I had been bumped off quite hard by a bouncing 906 ( a "misunderstanding" about how wide the track was  Roll Eyes ) maybe I just missed it, I had preset the stop, and just hit return.

What I meant was the time spent waiting for the 2 extra delivery tankers to arrive from the refinery with enough
petrol to fill my 138 litre tank, and then having to wait for the 4 extra people to lift the huge rear tyres onto the car
I hit the pit request 30 secs before pitting, so they were ready. I may have placed better if I had not spent 40 secs or so on the grass during the race for one reason or another, so I agree, the timing was about right.

First off an apology for those I scared at T1 and to the resulting damage at the back of the pack. I think my teamie jpv caught the brunt of it Embarrassed Forgot how early those GT40s have to brake and my emergency braking skewed me off towards the pitlane exit. Didn't quite manage to keep it off the grass and ended up stationary in the middle of T1 Roll Eyes

Really didn't enjoy that. The choice for me was to be off pace in the IROC and make time back on strategy, choose a tank and fall off frequently/ruin other's races or go with the fezza which tried to kill me every time I touched the brakes. Don't think I'll be enjoying the first third of S3 Sad

LOL, something like that.  I think that I was telling my pit crew what had happened to their "win bonus".

Loved the description of your pit stop Matt.  Had tears rolling down my cheeks imagining the antics of your pit crew, analysing the state of your headlamps whilst you chewed lumps out of the steering wheel.  Even funnier than the two cars who passed me after T1 and then smacked into each other right in front of me.

I must admit that the bloke mincing about in front of me really winds me up during pit stops.  I try to kill him every time that I am finally released to carry on racing.  devil

PS  Can you actually pre-set the "Do nothing with the tyres" or will I always have to mess with the keyboard?

PPS  Just had thinks!  I could use the sequential gear shift knob for up/down arrows,  just have to find an obvious button for "enter" and the keyboard will not have to be touched.

i miss my flipping braking point at T1 because some stupid message flashed up of someone pitting or leaving and it was enough to distract me for that split second

It might be me Mark, I use that info for years every race I have to pit. Sorry for your crash.

Hatts off for Mike! You have done everything as I like more.
Long race, pit stops, different cars to chose and handicap cars to chose from. Good work.

When I went to the pits, by then rolling at 5th place, I screwed it.
Spent 1 minute engaging 1st and reverse without stopping at the right spot.
Decided to leave the pits and stop at the next lap, which I achieved this time.
Therefore, I lost plenty of time and I chosed not to change the tires, oh dear....
last minutes of race were hard due to lack of grip. Sandor was shortning the gap ~2 seconds each lap
and we finished race very close. Nice race with  Mike for the earlier laps and with Ade and Tim.
I enjoyed every second of this race. Great track and nice car choice.

Congrats to podium and well done to all finishers.

Btw, in GTR and P&G, we must stop the engine when we want to add fuel, or the pit crew don't move.

Cheers

I'm rolling on the floor after reading about the antics of your pit crew Matt.

Guys, you can preset your stop in XD if you use that. There you can toggle the tire wear, pit strategy (and off) screens in XD. Once on the pit strategy screen, you can use the arrow keys to adjust fuel, decide to take tires or change tire compound, and decide to repair damage or not. Select an item using the up/down arrows and change selection using the left/right arrows. Utilizing this ability in these types of races is part of making a quick stop.

It is clear that your are coming to the realization that spending as little time as possible in the pit lane pays big dividends.

Yes. They were horrible. It took me a bit of time to learn. Getting XD and learning how to use it shaved tons of time off my stops.

Think this shows what was happening better than the gaps graph.

Gaps graph? werezatden?

Fings like this
www.planet-venom.co.uk/PnG/DubaiN/index.html  Look at Gaps Graph tab

Thing is, the traces are all relative to the leader and make it dificult to see what you were up to.  And I cant be bovered!

Great job Ade on the win, nice going  Cool

Means i may well have ended up with my hoped for top 5 finish. Was right behind Ade for first 10 minutes but then got held up behind two squabbling US muscle cars in the infield that cost me 6-8 secs behind them. Ade seemed to just go up a gear at that point and steadily pulled a gap out.

Prib, no worries, dont know whos message it was, but it was just a combo of a message flashing up, me trying to read my fuel remaining and braking for T1 from high speed. My own stupid fault. Sad

Speaking of messages flying up... I'd like to keep these at an absolute minimum. I prefer no messages at all, including pit in, pit out, etc..., but I understand they have been permitted for some time now and don't want to rock the boat too much. I also see the occasional message as somthing that has to be dealt with in a real life racing scenario. Think of the radio.
