In case you have been away from GTL, there have been GTL lobby problems. But.... it's all fixed now!

This is what you do to connect to the server:

1) Download & run this HOSTS HACK
2) Start GTL & select to the lobby
3) Register a new lobby account (I suggest the same name but with a blank email & password)
4) Log in with your new account & you should see a list of servers

euro

If this fix has not worked for you, then please check out this thread for more info/questions: https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=6869.msg119486#msg119486

But most importantly, do not suffer in silence (also, don't leave it till the Monday night Wink).

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car

If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: Some of the cars have a "Modern Compound" tyre choice. Can I ask that all drivers do not use these tyres please.

I'll join the fun. I have no clue what car I'll drive as I haven't even downloaded any of them. Imagine how many pit stops we'll need to make with 3 hours and 2x fuel and tires. I'm thinking of "iron man" for this one. I once did a Bathurst 1000k in V8 Supercars at Race2Play which took 6.5 hours. It was brutal. 500k should be perfect!

Tony, are we all having different cars in this event?  If so I'd like to put my name down for the Alfa Tipo 33/3 No. 38.  Cool

My old reactions are not up to the fastest cars these days,  wheelchair so I've checked out the P3.0 cars and that's the one best suited to my driving style  Roll Eyes

I remember these cars form our test race at Imola, they feel al wrong at first, like not connected to the ground
but after a few laps they work well. I used the Matra last time, it screams the walls down with it's maniacal wail
The Alfa is probably the best bet, though they all seem to be the same car with variations. If I load any, it uses the
saved default setup for the previous car.

Is there much difference between the car "groups"? If so, can I ask whats likely to be the choice for you all?

In testing there is a difference between the car groups but it only really shows up on the larger circuits eg Spa, Le Mans, Sebring etc. although IMO it seems that some cars feel easier to drive.

Matt, I haven't had a chance yet to test your theory re: setups.

I reckon about 5 secs a lap difference between the 2 groups around Brands. For me the Lola seems the quickest/easiest to drive and also seems to have a tyre advantage as I believe it's the only one with "Modern Compound"  tyre choice as well as softs/hards. The 917 could be quicker in the right hands, but it's a bit of a nightmare car for me. The 512 fezza is quick and nice to drive, but doesn't have the chance to use it's extra pace around Brands, perhaps because of the tyre disadvantage. Maybe a case to ban discourage the use of the Modern Compound?

I only tested the 908-02 in the lower group so far, but it seems to be a nice drive.
