Hopefully I won't total my car like I did here last time. Hopefully the driving standard will also be like it was last time to give me a quarter-shout of a win!!!!

Now that's what I call a really bad luck. My engine exploded at the drop of the green flag. And it could have been a good result based on my qually form.

That explains the not-moving car near me then!

Had an alright first lap, then went to brake for T1 and realised why I shouldn't have braked as late as I did. So fell to the back of the field and played catchup from there as people fell off. Fell off myself at the chicane (again) with 5 laps to go.

I should be happy with a third, but not so great when it should be easy to control a second. Just have to admit that evils eagle in the mirrors stressed me to push harder than neccesery with less than 2 laps to go.
I was also catching up on gøran but he had control. came a tad to fast into the lefthander after the two straigths divided with a hairpin and juuust lost it and went 180. Same place I messed evils race last season so fair that he got by this time after all. Smiley

Qualified 3rd about 0.3 off Goran & the King so was hoping to be in the podium mix but had a woeful T1 losing a place to both Clive & Dave. Things got worse on the second lap when I ran over the inside apex of the hairpin & got snagged on a line of grass! The only way to get unstuck was to drive over a little advertising board which bounced me off the grass-trap but also left me with a seriously wonky wheel & a car that really really didn't want to turn left. Decided to soldier on at the back in case of retirements but most of you lot decided to finish this one - typical! Congrats to Goran - always nice to see a new winner & WD podium too.

forgot the race date , arrived late then realised i didnt have the track loaded , faffed around for 20 mins or so and could join with 8mins pracky left , just enough time to realise i didnt have a set up,  so cobbled together a Zandy one and set off for a lap or two but the problem was brakes , couldn't get the things to work and couldn't find the proper brake points as Jethro found out to his cost .

Sould have retired the car after the first lap , but thought I might as well persivere persavere persiveer carry on to the end or death whichever came soonest .

I wasn't sure whether to take part in this race as I hadn't managed to drive the circuit or the BRM at all until last night, because of fitting a new kitchen which has taken over a bit.

Still, managed to get 15 minutes in before qually which gave me time to get the gear ratios about right and get it to do more or less what I asked.

Was surprised that I wasn't more off the pace in qualifying, but wasn't sure if I'd be able to keep it up over the race distance and this proved to be the case.  After a reasonable start I was to make a couple of unforced errors (both at Sears I think) which put me behind Tim and then Jethro.  Managed to close up on Jethro and make a pass after one of his autograssing diversions coming out of the last chicane.

Next target was Tim a few hundred yards ahead and although it seemed unlikely, I pushed as hard as I dare and closed up on him after an apparent error on his part with just a couple of laps to go.  On the very last lap I was close enough after the first two corners to make a move on the straight which should have been job done.  Unfortunately on the approach to the last chicane I overdid it as I passed a very considerate backmarker who'd moved way to the outside, but which put me slightly off line and inexcusably I spun to throw away a 4th place.  Well done Tim, enjoyed those last couple of laps anyway!

Well done to Goran for the win, King Hiro and Evil

Despite the lack of outright grunt in the 3ltr Eagle I managed to coax a quali time that put me 5th on the grid, but the laptimes being posted by the front two rows did not bode well for the race.
I thought the Eagle was slow off the grid, however a couple of cars ahead of me seemed to be struggling even more than me and i picked up 2 places before T2 and was into 3rd spot!! Shocked

The original plan of playing it cool and waiting for retirements in order to pick up places ( and points) was swiftly reconfigured as the opportunity to perhaps tail King Hiro, or if I could slip past him, to hang on to Goran's slipstream became apparent. The plan worked well until KH got a little out of shape at his favourite left hander. Which is where I discovered on lap 1, that my speed through that corner was somewhat faster than his Undecided.
My fault entirely, as I was too eager to press for a mistake so that I could get at Goran and 1st place before Goran could make good his escape!! The result was that I had to take to the grass rather than rear end KH. Something that lost me about 3 places and any chance of catching the leader unless he made a mistake.
From then on it was a case of trying to keep the Eagle revs in the very narrow band that pretends to be where the power is!!?? and suffer that horrible feeling when you allow the revs to drop on the apex of a slow corner and everything just dies whilst you wait for whole minutes ( it seems!! ) for the engine to pick up again.
Slowly reeled in one car after another until I caught Tim in a matching Eagle who was certainly hustling it along quite nicely despite having matchsticks holding his eyes open. I pressed as hard as I dared for a few laps hoping to prise an opening, but Tim was not overly keen to let me pass lol until he made a small mistake and I squeezed alongside denying him the racing line into the next corner.. and I was through.
KH was now showing as about 7 secs ahead, but I was only taking a couple of tenths a lap off of the gap and it looked like 3 rd was now the best I could hope for.
Then with 4 laps to go the gap dropped suddenly and KH was almost within reach..but not quite!! and it looked like he was just pacing himself to the flag. With 2 laps to go the gap was down to about 2 secs and I through everything that I did not need out of the cockpit to save weight ( underpants included) and threw the Eagle at every bend in the hope of putting enough pressure on to force a small mistake and create an opportunity........which Tom granted on the final lap on his favourite bend Grin. I really had no right  or chance of 2nd spot, but as the saying goes in that great film..."never give up, never surrender!".
Grats to Goran who drove a faultless race and hard luck to KH as he should have held 2nd spot, and thanks to those who moved off line to allow cars to lap without hinderance.

Well I don`t know what to say. My first win in the Historic was allmost easy. I think the poole was the key as I managed to get a good start and just drove away while the rest of you had all sorts of problems like unseen objects, grass driving, lack of practice, hard to stay awake and the worst of all, not being there at all.

At the most I think I had some 6 sec gap and that gave me room for some minor mistakes due to lack of concentration, but overall I think it went OK. The only thing I missed was the fastest race lap, WD Clive. WD also to King Hiro who was my biggest concern during quali, 0.015 sec difference, and most of the race, faster race lap than me.

Now we be off to Monaco, see you all there.

Göran

Here are the Stameister results for Snetterton Historics. Goran Jonsson takes the consistency prize with a score of 112.78 (a perfect score here would have been 120) representing an average deviation of 0.301 per lap, average laptime 1:28.730. In the high-climber competition Phil Thornton & Steve Bird are beginning to carve out a solid lead at the top of the table.
