...and wondering how it's going with UKiR? You hadn't started when I sloped off, but looks like you're into your 3rd season now.
Feeling tempted to get the wheel out of the loft....

Hi Steve, good to hear from you again. I'd been meaning to drop you a line about the league racing going on here. You missed two cracking season in the Skippy but sadly we may never go back down that route. That said, the Mazda and Riley seem to be able to provide as much entertainment. It'd be good to see you back on track again.

Hmm.....you all sound quite keen ....not much change there, which is a jolly good thing. Wot? No Skippy? I wasn't very keen on either the Mazda or the Riley, so perhaps now is not the time to return :'(

...however, $18 for 3 months is too tempting. The wheel still works, so I may see you online sometime

Hi all, Here's another one dropping in Recently (few weeks ago) I managed to try the iRacing for the first time and liked it! There is a strong chance I might get back to regular online racing with it and I see that the usual suspects from UK SRou are quite active. I know the essentials but internet came quite shy with regard to what kind of laptimes are a benchmark. I managed to do a 1.06 with Solstice in Lime Rock (no chicane) but I feel that is quite slow, just don't know how slow (I merely did 10 timed laps). What are the good and bad of iRacing online experience, is UKiR organizing its own events or taking part in the official events? Clive, is my locker in SBRC stable still available? Cheers Kruger

Hi Kruger, good to hear from you again. 10 laps with the Solstice won't give you a true representation of your pace (you we're pretty quick, remember ), but if you intend to start at the bottom of the iR ladder, it gives you a good grounding. It's all about momentum and carrying speed through the corners with that one. My lime Rock PB is mid 1:03ish I think, and knowing you and I were of a similar pace, gives you something to aim for. My advice, purchase the Skip Barber when you get chance and your eyes will really be opened to iR's potential. UKiR runs two private hosted series on alternate weeks. This season it's the Star Mazda and Daytona Prototype. The competition is excellent with decent sized grids most weeks. I'm sure you'd be most welcome to drop in. Cheers Brendan

Thanks Brendan, nice to see you still around My school just finished so I have less on my plate now, though now I have a baby but she's in bed before the racing hour so that won't be a problem I have to go through the subscription procedure first, now they offer a promotional price of 14$ for three months so I'll go with that first and see how it goes. I'm sure I'll be asking more questions until I get some grips with it. Kruger

hi I started just back in January.... i skipped the Solstice and jumped into the Ford Spec Racer .... but the MX-5's are coming later.... should be a solid rookie car for the Official races. You can buy the Daytona and Mazda and race them in the SRou races regardless of your licence thankfully (just wanna make sure you like the game before buying the cars and necessary tracks of course ) and setups make a huge difference in iR... so try the forums for some decent ones... the stock ones are okay but I struggled with the DP until I found a good setup

Clive, is my locker in SBRC stable still available? Cheers Kruger We kept your old room just as it was. Good to hear from you. If you don't want to spend your hard earned cash in iRacing there is PnG just starting a new season.
