I'm missing something at Rouen, but I'll find it one day.

Before I ever watched the WR lap or installed the groove I was a second or more off my usual pace at Rouen. I suggest you give them a try, you might be surprised at the ideal line for some corners, but it makes a difference.

Just a quick note to say a massive sorry to Dave. I haven't yet looked at the replay, but I remember I screwed up the braking for the hairpin despite braking in my "normal" place - I'd set the car up based on my Snetterton setup, and tuned it to be good on the brakes in the two places here they needed to be and quick out the blocks, hence the late braking at times and the lightning start I made. However this time the car snapped sideways.

I prayed to every God going, even prayed to "Her" to let me have my own accident and not take anybody with me.

Seems I'm a firm atheist like all Wazas (*ducks to avoid the flying spanner*) as I arrived backwards with no control in the crux of the hairpin and according to Pribluda had taken Dave with me.

I suspect (replay will probably confirm or deny this) that colliding with him meant I could keep going, as I put the car in reverse, drove off, and after a lap or two to check the Waza engineering quality out went full-bore again. Was a real shame as I was more than happy to stay behind and wasn't looking to overtake at the time.

Improved my '66 PB at the circuit though. Smiley

The problem with the 66 mod in particular, as I told you after the race, is that it has HUGE slipstream and you often don't realize the higher speeds that you get when running behind someone even if they're 50 or 100 meters up ahead. The worse is, it happens even at medium speed corners.

I nearly went off in the race when I closed up on a backmarker, even though he was at a good distance in front. I braked at my normal point and it wasn't enough to slow down on time for my normal line.

So I suspect in your case you built more speed running behind Dave at the fast section before the hairpin braking zone and so your regular braking point wasn't going to work. It probably explains why you kept overshooting previous corners as well.

This was a Black night for the Black Night Racing Team, Tim's misfortune and my own crappy race made it a pale shadow of the real thing.

I was reasonable happy with quali, 7th on the grid, and the last couple of laps, chasing Phil, allthough I did not get past I closed a 5 sec gap. But all in between was just crapp and not much to write about. Two good things was that I at least finished the race and that for the next race I get a group 2 car.

Congrats to H, your best lap was a WR lap, and to Syd and Al for podium WD.

Göran

PS. Don`t worry about the start Al, at least I was not hit from behind.

Doubt draft was involved for the accident though H, Jethro spent most of the straight leading to Nouveau Monde on the grass! Hence me braking earlier than normal when he pulled back onto the track in front of us  Shocked

Oh, and as irrelevant as it is after my crashing out I think I started getting Paradis more or less right after you dropped me - I seemed unable to correctly guage the turn in point from behind you!  ninja

Regardless of the accident, it was fun to be involved in a 4 car train for some of the race - Dave, myself, Hristo and Tim. That was fun! Cheesy

Sooner the slipstream is sorted with this mod the better.

I don't think that's going to happen, they have to please GPL Rank junkies...  Roll Eyes

Have you seen the plans for the new 69 mod?
I don't think fixing the 66's will be near the top of the priorities, but it's not unthinkable that they'll fix it at some point  Smiley

In 65's case, the improved slipstream made them faster, so any WRs with the (slight) aid for slipstream would only improve. If they fix 66s, it's the opposite. Anyway, I don't think slipstream should be allowed at all for WRs, and if it's not, then I don't see what's stopping them from fixing the 66 mod slipstream... bah.

Yup, I also think that the submitted laps should be unaided with slipstream, but hey-ho.

Which reminds me - they didn't fix the 65 mod as much as they could've (reduce the engine power, add the frontend aero lift), again for GPL rank reasons. It's a shame, though the mod is still great.

Stat-meister is turning into Slack-meister - apologies for another late posting.

Hristo's win in the previously-winless BRM means the only chassis yet to score a victory in Historics is the 3 Litre Eagle. (Updated win table below)

Results from Rouen - perfect consistency score would be 90.

* 2 worst scores to be dropped
