We're off to France for race seven, with a track last run on 67's in Season 14. Out of the 13 drivers in that race Evil, Bernie, Phil and Hristo are still with us. In up to date news Al H leads the Works but Tim FMG or Clive may yet overturn his lead. Over in the Privates Vos clings on to the lead with Billy coming through as a new contender. However it's not all over yet and Mike, Bernie or Ronnie could still upset the apple cart.

Race List = IGOR
Server = UKGPL_T7_2
IP address = 62.149.202.168
Race date = 20-06-2010
Time = 21:00 UK time
Track = Le Mans Bugatti 67
Variant = 67F1
Damage Model = PRO
Qualifying time = 35 minutes. Don't start until 30 mins left on clock to allow everyone to join.
Race length = 50 minutes (laps 30)

Password: see above

Driver lists can be found on the championship standings page
The track can be downloaded from : http://srmz.net/index.php?showtopic=1277
Add-on’s available at : http://srmz.net/index.php?showtopic=1029

Please be in IGOR UKGPL chatroom by 8:50 pm UK Time

Reserve drivers should not join the server until there are only 30 minutes of qualifying left. Please restrict chat to pit messages. Moderating will be by reported incidents only, however the moderators reserve the right to review any incident with a particular emphasis on lap one. The aim is to review the race the following weekend so incident reports should be submitted within five days of the race (ie the following Friday). We're hopeful most incidents can be resolved amicably and recommend a days deep breath with a replay review before posting. A sorry in the forum won't be taken as an automatic admission of guilt by the moderators.

With the token system chassis strategy will be a factor. A driver must have sufficient tokens for the chassis he drives in the race.  Any driver who does not have sufficient tokens will be disqualified from the result and his tokens will be set to zero.

Chassis costs;
Lotus 20 / Eagle 17 / Ferrari 15 / Brabham 10 / Cooper 5 / Honda 3 / BRM 0

To see your current tokens hover your mouse over your total points on the championship standings page. Ten tokens will be added when you cross the start line.

The Championship is split into two sub-divisions, namely Works and Privateers. The driver split will be;

WORKS drivers
Phil T
Evil
John R
Tim FMG
Steve Bird
Jethro

67 Patch: The 1.3 Release of the 67mod can be used.

NOTE: In the event of more then 19 entrants a second grid will be run for the Privateers on ukgpl.5. (ping myjamesonline.net) Instructions will be provided in the chatroom – please ensure you join the correct server, due to the way we import if you start the race on the wrong server your result will not count. If you can try to make sure you are in the chatroom by 8.50pm this will enable a decision without any delays to the start time.

Bugatti Circuit uses a part of the circuit used for the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans race and a separate, purpose-built section and is named after Ettore Bugatti. The sections of track on the Bugatti Circuit that are on the Circuit de la Sarthe include the Ford Chicane at the end of the lap, the pit complex, and the straight where the Dunlop Tires bridge is located. The track was used for the 1967 French Grand Prix, won by Jack Brabham, but was not popular and Formula 1 has not returned since.

PS: If anyone has noticed a 'blank' for the race on 25 July (race 9) I can confirm this event will be at Carthage 35 - srou wll be updated in due course

Not a fan of Bugatti circuit, have yet to drive a version I like in any mod/game.  Sad
 Pretty sure my strategy sheet has me in a shed for this too!  Roll Eyes

Tim FMG

For the sake of simplicity feel free to just use FMG, most of the old timers on one of my other forums do even when talking to me in real life  Grin

The track can be good fun when everyone is racing in similar cars, but slower cars have a big disadvantage because of the hard acceleration and braking zones. I like it from technical point of view though, takes a lot of precision to deliver a good lap.

A rather lacklustre way to return. Qualified around mid-pack somewhere, had a great start, passing Tom, Al and Fulvio by lap 1, and was driving comfortably in 2nd. That was short-lived however, as I ran wide on that lap into the gravel and never really recovered. I was making far too many errors around the circuit, but was still enjoying the track. Was running solidly in 7th, until I got the dreaded screen freeze  censored.

Ah well, now that I've got the taste for sim-racing once again, I'll be doing my best to attend the rest of the races this season. Congrats to all that finished  Smiley.

With virtually no time to practise and having spent all weekend out at Castle Combe, I was well off pace and kinda fed up being the token slow guy, so packed up.

btw - 9 drivers really isn't fun for me.  There is a huge gap between privateers and works right now, and I fit well into the middle of the two.  Now I'm not sure what or how, but if the low driver numbers continue, there needs to be a review in how Grads is run.  This is not the way to encourage new people in!

Off soap box.

Bummer for me , rare turnout in the brabby , race in the bag,  20 odd secs lead on Vos with 17 to go , just thinking about doing cruise mode and short shifting and the bleedin camshaft does one , wouldn't mind I fitted taller gears for the race  Roll Eyes

Thought the bleedin Repco engine was bulletproof , should have known better  Undecided

Had a spin at T3 on L1 which left me about half a mile behind the pack so it was a pretty lonely race apart from swapping places with Martin a few times before he had a big off. But I did manage the fastest lap -  a career first I think:D

Commiserations to Bernie - I thought you were getting close enough to lap me at one stage.

Sorry to hear that Bernie. I had gone into cruise myself settling for a possible second as I knew the Vos consistency couldn't outdo an old pro like you  Wink
With all these engine blow outs I keep dreading the day when my time will come.

Anyway after settling for second and being 'gifted' the top spot I went into 'drive to survive' mode, I had visions of Bill repeating the mantra 'spin Vos spin Vos' behind me - turns out I wasn't far wrong but don't blame him  Wink

So a win is a win - very pleased. And thanks to Hannah for making it easy to pass.
Must admit I liked the split grids although slightly lonesome but can see Steve's point. It's all open to debate for Season 20 so thoughts on the mid-season thread would be good https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=7965.0

PS;
But I did manage the fastest lap -  a career first I think:D

I currently hold the record as the slowest driver so if you find yourself at the back of the grid you'll see me there  Cheesy
Cheers
If you wait around long enough.  Wink You might get five wins

Luck of the draw Vosb , congrats on the win , I wasn't expecting to do well here anyway so not that dissapointed

Looks as if Ronnie had a camshaft fail , wondered what happened to him , early on he seemed to be pushing hard , my Prib wasnt showing any kind of race data so only the pit board info for me , my connection was poor too and I was half expecting another disco , also I was fighting off cramp in my right foot which was starting to become a problem , think I would have had to finish the race with just me left foot for both braking and gas pedals, that would have made things a little more interesting . At least Team mate Mike got a podium finish and FL to go with it , well done mate
