Well done Tim and happy birthday too! Congrats also to Syd and Sam and bad luck H
Not much to report from my race. Got a poor start to drop a few places. Held the group of three cars in front quite comfortably but didn't want to risk a move on Jethro who was immediately in front, not least because of the lag he was experiencing making him seem even more erratic than usual!
After a few laps the engine blew on the straight to add to the string of disappointments for various reasons this season, after making such a good start to it.
Must stop looking forward to these races so much..

Hang in there Dave. I couldn't finish a race for the life of me. Four races in a row without a finish and then two seconds in a row, Now I get to take F312 at Spa . So there's light at the end of that straight . I had a great race. Early on Sam passed me, and Jethro made a mistake to slot in just behind me. I had my hands full with Jethro, who was all over me at ends of any straight. But it was pretty fair, and we didn't make any contact (I was extra cautious in some turns cause it was Jethro behind me after all ). Unfortunately, with us fighting Sam managed to pull out a lead of some 4 seconds. But then Jethro made a mistake on his own, and I could concentrate on driving. I slowly reeled Sam in, and just as I got close, he spun on the downhill section on the penultimate turn, and I was through to 2nd place. I could see Tim, who was a couple of seconds ahead with some 5 laps to go, and I really pressed hard to catch up to him. Didn't quite get him, but at least got the fastest lap, my 12th overall, but first in almost two years. Grats Tim on the win, and Sam on the podium..

regardless if it's a teammate or not.

I crashed. I was wondering about H s (who I always forget is Colin MC Rae) weird performance ,that proved to be caused by lack of enginepower, and that somehow got me out of focus. even the swede beat me then. Really enjoyed up to then. nice battles.

You are a very hard man to pass, but that was good fair racing. I had a job trying to work out where I could pull a move safely, and decided to settle in behind. As it turns out I went backwards quite quickly! I will absolutely reserve judgement on Lap 1 until seeing the replay as I was rather shattered after that race.

Only 6th place but a thoroughly enjoyable race for me. It's not often you can race wheel-to-wheel with people in GPL for any length of time without it ending in incident, but me & Hristo managed it for over 15 laps. I got ahead 3 or 4 times only to be reeled in again every time - good clean scrap I thought, albeit a little disturbing that it took the slowest car with a dodgy engine & a lap 1 shunt to put H on equal terms with me . Had good racing with Fulvio & King Hiro on the way too. Looking forward to Spa though slightly alarmed to see that I have to take a handicapped chassis again - oh well, that must mean I'm improving . Hope Tim enjoyed his birthday present & congrats to podium.

Reserve judgment? Are you serious? How oblivious can you be to what you're doing and how blind can you be to what is happening around you? You were in no position whatsoever to enter that corner on the inside, out of control, through the grass and embedded tires and right into me as I was already negotiating the apex. And be aware that I saw your crazy move early on and tried to stay wide because I was 100% sure you won't make it with the speed you were carrying into the corner... it's amazing (and disturbing) that you need to watch a replay to see what YOU were doing.

I'm currently at work and lap 1 of yesterday evening's race among the server disconnects and astonishingly bad lag is a blur in my hazy memory, hence the need for me to see a replay to know *exactly* WTF happened there. By all means keep with your point of view, however I will have an open mind until I view both the server and my saved replay. And for the record I recall there was no discernible contact on lap 1 on my end at the time, hence I thought you'd spun.

Clark-Hill has its own forum? I might have to pop along as a wary traveller, if people from other teams are so gladly accepted . As for my race, it was quite a good debut for me in the Historics. I qualified 7th after spending most of the time in practice tuning my setup and was reasonably confident about the race. Thankfully, I made a great start, passed a couple cars and flew past Syd on the straight. That vaulted me up to 3rd, after the first lap dramas, which became 2nd, after I passed Jethro on the straight. The next 15 laps or so were quite quiet. I had Syd and Jethro nipping at my heels from time to time but mostly I was alone, unable to match Tim's pace up front. However, with about 8 laps or go, Syd had other ideas and reeled me in at a frightening rate. I think I didn't have the gears set up properly because Syd had much, much better drive out of the corners; particularly the infield section of twisting corners, but he unable to match the grunt of the mighty BRM on the straight. About 5 laps from the end, I thought my Christmas had come early as Tim had lost it up ahead, and rejoined just ahead of me. So what do I do? Get over-excited, brake too late and spin about 3 corners later! That left Syd to hound Tim and me to drive alone into 3rd. That said, I did make it hard for myself, spinning again and again, almost losing 3rd to Fulvio! Still, 3rd isn't so bad, here's hoping to cut down on my errors for the next one. Congrats to Tim and Syd, perhaps the win was just meant to be....

I know I said I had to win as it was my Birthday but must admit I didn't expect to actually do it! Even better is the fact that that was my first ever win in the 66 mod - Makes it an even nicer present I only chose the BRM because it occured to me I've never really raced it before, it's not the most agile car in the mod but has some great straight line speed to compensate. Qually was going well as I held pole for about 4-5 minutes in the initial session while still on race fuel, the server then proceeded to self destruct just as I started on my first hot lap on low fuel Got a couple of clean laps in once Syd finally kicked the server into shape which put me nicely into 2nd spot. I had to check my own replay after the race as was worried it had been me who knocked Hristo off into the downhill section - I wasn't quite as flowing as usual as I'd not had my traditional 2 laps on full fuel prior to the start and was therefore a bit cautious/wobbly. Glad to see it wasn't me but gutted for H as there was nothing he could do to avoid Jethro. After the chaos had settled and Jethro fell off himself 2 or 3 laps in I actually had quite a boring race, although I had to concentrate hard as I could see Sam pretty much holding position 4 seconds back on prib and then spotted Hristo closing in through the pack. Things then got far more exciting when I span exiting turn 7 with about 4 to go (an original name that ) and found Sam and Syd almost right behind me, Sam vanished while I was concentrating on my escape leaving Syd just in range of my slipstream. Was very odd having Syd in a green car instead of the normal red ones but this was perhaps my saving grace as the 2.7 Brab just didn't have enough straightline speed to capitalise on the draft and harrass me on the back straight - He did get enough out of it to steel the fastest lap from me though the swine! Well done Syd on 2nd, Sam on a flying 3rd (back in style ), and to everyone who finished. Also comiserations H, Although you normally slaughter me I at least enjoy our battles while I hold it on the black stuff!

I was wrong though - the engine was lucking power and I could barely shift into 5th on the back straight, and my exit out of corners was not as quick. It was like the engine was missing a cylinder or something.
I wonder if this is a bug in the 66 mod? I had near enough the same problem after I barrelled over a load of Polo's at Zeltweg earlier this season, only hit the nose but ended up with barely enough power to hit 5th on the straights in my 312...

I had a similar thing happen to me as well, at the Glen, though after hitting fairly hard into the barriers. I couldn't reach anywhere near last gear on the straights.
