Not the finale I was hoping for Sad

Couldn't get it together in qually, and after a few exciting moments in the first couple of laps it was pretty dull.  I had to take some evasive action into the chicane to avoid rear ending TT, and I think that in turn cocked up Ade Sad.

I stayed with TT for a few laps, but when Pops span I lost concentration, ran over the grass on the chicane exit and got black flagged.  It seemed to take an age to clear, and by then my chance of staying with TT was gone.

A silly spin dropped me back after incidents in front brought Mike and TT near me, and with big gaps in front and behind that was that.

Oh dear.

Qualified well in 3rd.  Got a good run on John at the start and went sailing past my brake point for the chicane.  Was well down when I rejoined on the end of the battle with Ken and Shark.  Managed to pass Ken and set about Shark.  I just couldn't get a good opening and after many laps of frustration, I finally got an opportunity into T1....

... Which I messed up by locking a wheel, sliding into Shark.  Unfortunately Ken ended up hitting our spinning cars and was eliminated Sad

Amazingly the car was still driveable.  Finished 5th.  Probably one of my worst performances.  Embarrassed

Yes, it was a fantastic battle up to that point. Still these things happen and it was probably karma for VIR!!

Really pleasing way to end the season.

With 3 minutes to go in qually I was 1st with a small advantage over John.  Decided to have one last run just in case and very glad I did.  By my last lap I was 3rd but did enough on that lap to snatch pole back by 2/10ths.

Got a good start and opened up a 2-3 second gap over the first lap.  James had nipped by John and I think their battle gave me a chance to pull the lead out to around 4-5 after 8 laps or so.  Not sure what happened behind but suddenly I was 8 secs ahead of Darren.  Concentrated on maintaining the gap and keeping on the road with some less than stunning, but consistent laps.  A very dull, but ultimately very enjoyable season finale.

Thanks all for a great season, hope our next Mazda odyssey is just as good.

PS, Grats to John on the championship, whose mid season dominance really paid off.

Also, congrats (begrudgingly Wink) to Team Shark on the constructors.

Maybe a season review is appropriate.

Missed the first round but then had a great battle with Brendan at Brands and bagged my best result of 4th. Unfortunately it was downhill all the way from there.

I just don't get on with Infinion and my braking style there causes massive tyre wear and invariably punctures, which turned out to be the case in the race.

Zandvoort was a blast and I was in the thick of the multicar battle for the lead until Paul's road block ended the fun!!

I didn't really have time to prepare for VIR, another track I'm not keen on. I was well off the pace and made a really bad mistake which took Ross out, Sad

And tonight was another fun race ending prematurely. I was back being dad's taxi again tonight so only just made qually. In those circumstances I just have to hope for the best, but I'd hoped for better than 7th. Anyway apart from Brendan we were all stuck together in one long six car crocodile. Even though my race was cut short it was still very enjoyable.

Let's hope for some more consistency in S4.

Didn't get a chance to do a laps practice before about 8:15 tonight & wasn't really expecting to do anything but try to keep up.
Was shocked to be ahead of a couple of people with only 4 laps under my belt Shocked Grin & ended up having a good start to the race.

I was all over Adam through the corners (due to extra wing I assume) & clinging on down the straights. Unfortunately he had a big wobble coming out a corner & squirted back on track & while I had the momentum to squeeze past I held back as he got it back under control (because I knew I had no reset available Wink), I dropped too much speed & lost almost two secs. Once he had that comfort zone he was away & I settled into a decent race long drive with Picnic. Sadly Spanner who maybe had the best pace of us here, got out of shape and had Game over Sad

I think I've enjoyed the Watkins race in every car we've tried so far. Can't think of another track I could say that for Undecided Will certainly be glad to see VIR & Infineon takign a deserved rest whistling.

Well again had virtually not practice and grabbed a setup late of the forums, should have tested more as was a little loose into and out of most of the turns, so sorry to Pops for that slight wobble, did same thing thru there a few times, then ended up losing it in the boot as I touched the kerbs trying get back into 2nd.

Had great fun during the season, although I hate VIR!

Thanks to everyone who took part

+1

If only for maintaining a sense of sanity whilst presiding over such a rowdy mob.

Cheers Pops.  thumbup1
