Had no one or thing to blame for poor result this time, apart from maybe a bit of tiredness!  After Tim spun coming out of Masta I was sharing the lead with Hristo for a couple of laps when I got the entry wrong and therefore the exit very wrong into Masta too, thankfully whilst following H.  Car was amazingly still intact but not a lap later when I managed to impale it on the end of the barrier entering the curve after Masta!!

Looked like a good battle in the making when I left, with Evil and Goran together and chasing down H.  Well done to whoever came out on top of that and the rest of the podium of course.

I didn't have big expectations for the race after seeing how quick those Ferraris are in Qualifying, but Tim going off and then keeping up with Dave's slipstream why the others dropped back made it possible to think about victory.

Even more so after Dave went off and I enjoyed a lead of 7 seconds over Goran, which dropped to 6 seconds and stayed like that for another lap.

My problem was that I had a tall 5th to account for slipstreaming, so my car was bogging down a lot when running alone and as a result I was probably losing a second a lap.

With 2 to go I had Tim at 5 seconds back, but I didn't see that info until a lap later or one lap to go in other words. Tim was visible in my mirrors by then and despite taking a lot of risks in corners, he easily closed in and passed me after Stavelot.

I knew my only chance remained at the braking zone for the last hairpin at La Source, so I planned it carefully and was well positioned, but as expected Tim kept the inside line under braking. I had no option but to start braking earlier than I could've.

Suddenly he opened up the door though and I instantly accelerated to dive inside, but maybe accelerated a bit too much as I couldn't slow down enough to keep the inside line at the corner. This sent me wide, with the rear sliding, so by the time I caught the slide and regained control to accelerate out of the corner, Tim already had the inside and was accelerating out.

Crossed the line 3 tenths behind, kinda frustrated, but partially my fault. That Ferrari is insanely fast though! Grats to Tim for a great recovery and the rest for finishing.

Just cant get the hang of these 66 mod cars , problem was I kept losing the rear end when having to lift while following up close due to the draft and susiquent extra corner entry speed , so I gradually worked my way backwards down the field  Undecided Then a few more mistakes trying to brake the catchup lap record , a bit of hedge trimming and donut practise didn't help.

Perhaps a dab of brakes while keeping the gas on would have solved the problem but I never thought to try that in the race cos I didnt want to take anyone off testing the theory out

Enjoyed the few laps of racing while it lasted  Wink

Congrats  Tim and the Podium

I'm doing this all the time in all mods, otherwise I can't keep the car straight...

Spa and me, we just don't get along. Even though I'm reasonably fast here, inconsistency kills me every time. Stuffed it at Stavelot at what seemed like the speed of light from inside the car.
Grats to the podium.

I'm with Hristo on this one...those Ferraris were so much quicker it was depressing!!!

I did not manage to get a tow during quali so could do no better than 6th on grid, but figured that at least there would be a few loose tow ropes to grab in front of me  Roll Eyes.

Everyone seemed ultra careful through Eau Rouge on lap 1 giving each other plenty of room, which was nice Grin. Unfortunately ( for some) by the time we got to Masta that goodwill appears to have vanished and there were a couple of cars practising donuts on the exit.
It was about then that I realised I was following Goran's Lotus. By the end of the lap I had realised that although the extra power of the Lotus punched Goran out of the corner faster than my Eagle, I could carry more speed and use his slipstream to keep with him.
That was pretty much the pattern of the whole race.
Dave kept Hristo busy for the first laps until he decided to change its shape, elevating Goran and myself to 2nd and 3rd respectively. I was getting quite sick of the sight of that Lotus gearbox but Goran refused to make a large enough error to provide a passing opportunity that might stick.

Then Tim loomed in the mirrors in that monster Fez!!  The sheer speed of that thing on the straights even overcame the tow!!and he swept past us both to move into second and disappear into the distance. Goran managed to use tim's slipstream and ease a small gap before Tim escaped and i was pushing hard to close up on the last lap . La Source was going to be my one chance. Goran made a slight error and I was back on his tail pipes as we approached the final turn. he defended the inside line I was hoping to go around the outside, carrying enough speed so that the car did not bog down in 1st gear. It was never gonna work anyway..lol   and there was a small contact that bounced me into the bales and Goran up onto the kerb. Goran crossed the line in 3rd and I followed ( as I had done throughout the race!! Roll Eyes) in 4th.
Grats to all finishers and great racing with Goran. Stunning recovery Tim, and timed to absolute perfection it seems. Grin

Not one of my best efforts. Qualified 7th, made a great start and slotted into 5th. All that came to nought though when I messed up at Masta and rejoined just ahead of Tim, and was amazed the BRM hadn't lost a wheel. Soon afterwards Tim was crawling all over the back of me and made light work in passing me. I was just about keeping in the tow for a lap until I braked too late into Blanchimont and spun off again, rejoining in last place.

After that it was a relatively quiet race, passing Steve and Bernie and desperately trying to catch Fulvio and Al up ahead with a few laps to go. All was going to plan until I took too much speed into Stavelot and gave the barriers an almighty clout, firmly wedging me in the chicken wire, race over. The BRM still had all four wheels on it though  Grin.

Congrats to Tim for an excellent recovery drive and commiserations to H after another flawless drive. See you all at the next one.

It`s nice to be back on the podium. My expectations were not so great before the race because I did not really get along with the Lotus. But after I got 5th on the grid and the start was OK I begun to feel a little better. This time I was driving without the pribluda, and I only saw half of my pitboard, so I was pretty much in the dark about what happend around me.

When the race settled I had Clive behind me and H in front, I could see the names on the pitboard. I did not think so much about H, he was way ahead, my problem was Clive because he did not leave my gearbox. Then out of the blue my mirrors went red. It was Tim and that gave me a chance, because when he passed me, with that flying red thing, I would get a tow and maybe get rid of Clive. Well at first it worked, but then it worked a bit to good and I had to much speed into the corner before La Carrière and messed up a bit, so after that my mirrors were blue again, Clive was just behind me and Tim was lost.

The rest of the race was all about keeping Clive behind and somehow I managed to do that allthough it was very close at the end.

Grats to Tim and H, nice battle.

Was watching the football semi-final so joined the server a little late & a lot unprepared. Fiddled around with the Lotus setup during qually but ran out of time so took a gamble on gearing before the race - bad move! Started the race & found myself redlining rather too often in 6th & with engine temps soaring had to start changing up early & easing off slightly at the end of the straights. Phil blew past me easily & then I had to work hard to fend off Bernie's attentions. After a few laps saw FMG approaching behind & thought he was lapping people already Cheesy so let him past (not that I could have kept him behind mind). Was amazed that the engine lasted the race so threw caution to the wind for the final lap in an effort to catch Fulvio - didn't quite have enough but managed to set a lap that was miles quicker than anything I'd done previously. I'm sure there's a moral to this story somewhere... Anyway WD to Tim, H & Goran.

I notice that my cunning plan to post a dismal result in this race and therefore drop out of the "Group1" handicap for the last two races has totally misfired...must try harder at being useless!!!

So it means that Riverside is next...........but which version?Huh maybe someone can post a link to the correct circuit. Just to avoid any confusion come race day?? Roll Eyes  Not that I intend to do any practice you understand, I'm merely posting this to prevent problems later. Grin
