Thanks for posting results Steve, and thanks for the offer of the server Tim. We are usually ok with Nicky's server, but for some reason he was watching TV last night instead of racing with us!! . Strange people these Germans We were honoured with a visit from Mr Clive Loynes at Silverstone for the 65 race, although he discovered that nothing much changes in GPL. The names might change, but there is always someone willing to nerf you in GPL. In his day there was Burt (and a certain over exuberant "EC", but the less said about that....) spoiling his day, last night he met the new Exocet, in the guise of Jethro . Hristo again proved the quickest in the 65's, but I had great fun hurling the Cooper at the grey stuff but occasionally getting involved with the slippery green bits. THEN... we were further honoured by the appearance of another "rave from the grave" in the person of Rob Hunter for the 69 race....which he won!!! In recent weeks we have seen Kruger Enge, Lorenzo Galluzi, Clive Loynes and Rob Hunter. Is there a sneaky movement afoot to get all the "old" brigade back into BREASTS?

65's were quite fun for me. I actually seemed to have some pace from somewhere and courtesy of Clive and H battling and waiting for each other on occasion, I actually managed nearly a full lap in between them! As we got into the final turn, witha couple of laps to go I was carrying too much speed and closed rapidly on H's gearbox (that doesn't happen often!) and Clive was close behind. Not wanting to wreck either of their races by either running into the back of H or suddenly slowing and suprising Clive I elected to throw the car wide and ended up on the grass. Maybe I could have done it better and just eased wide to avoid contact then tucked in behind the guys, but hindsight is wonderful.
69 race effectively ended when Sam had a spin and I couldn't avoid running into his car. Made a complete horlicks of the recovers to track and ended up a mile behind. Just used the remaining laps as track time for more practise.
Nice to have a few more turn up for the 69 race.
Cheers.

I really didn't mean to hit Clive L but practising with AI cars does not prepare you for the unpredictability of real racers. When I realised I was gonna hit him I aimed for the inside of Woodcote across the wide apron for the pit entrance. I need to realise WARP is always a factor in online racing, which ain't there in AI cars. I took a SnG for my actions, particularly for the speeding full chat through the pitlane which woulda made Luca Badoer proud!!!
Other than that the chase for the front few cars was good. I followed somebody for a couple of laps just waiting for their weak points and then they fell off at Club. Martin then fell off the road so I had a 12 second gap to close in 8 laps. The chase was on! Did some good laps learning different lines and braking points in the Cooper around here. Quite how I got within 5 seconds by the last lap I'm not sure, but evil and Steve's excursions pushed me up to 2nd before H decided a "photo" finish for his blown BT7 was the way to end the race.
I had a lot of fun in the 65s race, but I wish I hadn't hit Clive. Unfortunately when you don't have competitive racers (the AI are useless) it's really hard going into the mix again.

Everyone knows that million-to-one chances happen 9 times out of 10. Why the hell do I keep crashing then?!

First of all - stop racing with the AI, period. Enter some pickup races or other leagues, whatever it takes to learn racing with HUMANS. Second - my BT7 didn't blow up, I really slowed down before the line and then accelerated (obvious on the replay) when I saw a car (yours) in my mirrors... Good racing with you, Clive and then with Evil in the 65s race, but it's a shame we couldn't carry it on properly until the end. The 69s weren't very enjoyable for me, the BRM was nice to drive, but was so much off the pace of the other cars, especially Rob's. I didn't have a setup either, so had to improvise on wings and suspension settings in the limited amount of time there was.

Well, I enjoyed qually. I quite sure that Jethro didn't want to hit me but if you pile into corners that fast and that close together before you have learnt what the bloke in front is going to do then it is almost inevitable. No problem but just give yourself some room mate. My start was good. I know that I only had the mighty BT7 and the Cooper to beat but I had never used the clutch pedal in GPL before so anything could have happened. I was too tentative into Copse, not knowing who was where, and this allowed H to drive around the outside of me. (Nothing new there then) Not hitting H compromised my exit speed and that let Evil jump me on the way to Maggots. After that it was plain sailing as I tried to find my GPL head, all the way to Woodcote. It was obviously a good preparation for my Thursday PnG race as I skanked my first ever win, after the guy in front disconnected.

Cheers Evil.
I would have had a crack at Crystal Palace but MARA league are organising a 90 minute race at Spa (modern shape) in Porsche 906s.
Will see what turns up.
