I don't know about now, but when I was involved you often chipped in with your opinions on the iR mods group.

Absolutely yes, just as I express my opinion now, whether people want me to or not Wink, but that doesn't make me responsible for shaping UKiR. Tongue I don't recall ever being asked to make a decision on anything and I think there are others with much greater roles in shaping UKiR than me.

In my book, participating in discussions on the mods forum goes way beyond 'I, just like any other member, can put my opinion forward and any influence I have is only as another experienced sim-racing member of SRou. '.

There is no secret cabal plotting to make iRacing a super-elite racing series. It's just me... Tongue

As far as I can tell, I am wholly responsible for making these decisions at league level, I get input via the drivers on the forum (here), from the experience of the moderating team (formal and informal) and have had discussions via email and PM with various drivers. Dave has to make a call regarding anything that affects SRouk as a whole but that's it.

I think channels of communication have been open the whole time and I have listened to the feedback even if ultimately I have gone in a different direction.

Just for the record, I've actually reversed my original view and am happy with no resets now.
I think I used reset once ... and ended my race after half a minute as the race was over (for me) anyway. But I'm not against resets, I will not use it even if it's available and I don't drive differently. So: why ban it? Who wants it can use it. Who doesn't, won't. I don't care about this in arcade games. Wink

Like Simon says, what's really needed in iR is proper damage/fix modelling that's more life like.

Can't recall how many times I expressed the very same. iR must be run by politicians - same promises every time. Sad And since they keep a hand on everything modding won't be possible. I practicaly gave up ... and will join this for an occasional race and let everybody by to not be the cause of the crash.

BF2 community is growing back and it might be the same with GTR2 or GTR3 if it'll be worth its name.

I wasn't going to comment but what the hell Wink

I was originally against a reset as I'd had at least one race spoiled by someone who's just had a reset coming out of the pits right in front of me and slowing me down for a few laps until they're up to speed or come out just behind and again messed me around. As I'm a known tail end Picnic people don't want to move over as they know they'll be quicker after their tyres are back up to temp. No resets means that won't happen.

But I've changed my tune recently, however I'm not firmly of the belief resets should be allowed again just leaning that way. It won't matter how much I practice I just do not have the skills required to run at the front. So I'm doing this because I enjoy it. To immediately have the race cut short is hard to take sometimes, even when the accident was of my own doing. I was having a really great time in the Mazda race at Brands until I came across a spun car. Wham, race over for both of us. A reset would have allowed that fun to continue.

I'm a little disappointed with the suggestion that allowing resets would make me a liability (I know it wasn't pointed directly at me but it does feel that the comment is made to the group of drivers I may fall in to) There seems to be very little give by the anti-reset lobby and little or no recognition that there is the possibility that allowing a reset (not unlimited) would enable some people to enjoy a race for longer.

I can't be bothered to read through the old race threads but I do recall many a moan about the poor number of finishers, you can't have it both ways. I'll continue to turn up regardless and it's actually those who crash out whom I end up passing during the race, I think my points scoring would remain higher by keeping the current no reset rule. But I'd rather have someone to race.

It's very hard to express one's opinion in these threads but I hope I've got my feelings across and will now crawl to the back of the grid where I belong.

Rightly or worngly, I tend to use my driving as a benchmark for others when I considering what's best.

I do that safe in the knowledge that I'm nowhere near the best or fastest driver. I figure that if I can do it then everyone else can.

What I don't understand is how I'm able to finish so many races and not think a reset is necessary Huh (I'm looking at 1 DNF in the last 25 iRacing events or so)

I am a fairly cautious driver but I'm able to come close to my practice times in a race so I'm not driving a ridiculous amount away from my limit. I haven't got supreme car control or racecraft (other than in my mind where I'm an awesome race driver Grin).

What am I doing differently?

It might be you really enjoy iR while not all others do. Smiley No offence. I came in for the superiror driving model, then - when other things didn't follow - I stayed mostly 'cause of the team.

On the other hand, I really enjoy GTR2 and I stayed there even without a team. Tongue No offence MJ and Purds, you do show up once in a while. Kiss

Really, if not for the crowd here, I'd ditch iR long time ago.

Resets? I don't give a damn. Cheesy
