But I don't feel it's right to wait for other people's mistakes to crawl up the ladder.
Works for me.  You're not only racing the other cars, you're racing the track.  Single seaters are fragile and there's no prizes for a broken car.

I enjoyed last night even though most of it was solo flying.  When PW made a mistake in T2 I was suddenly 5 seconds in front of him with 5 to go and had to concentrate to avoid making mistakes and letting him past again.  I was fine until the last couple of laps when I twice managed to go up two gears at once, the second time coming out of Moss which put him right on my tail.  Luckily for me he did exactly the opposite and dropped a gear accidentally coming into the right hander at the end of the straight and span it.

Also noticed the baseline setup gives a negative rake. Isn't this a bad idea? AFAIK the airflow below the car in this way reduces the rear end stability so basicaly negates what you get with low rear arb. Or do I read complicate too much?
The Skippy's got very limited downforce, it's just there really to negate the high speed lift and remember, changing the rake changes the wing angle at both ends so the aero balance should stay fairly constant.  It's not a problem anyway.

Far more important is the ground clearance.  You were raising sparks in a couple of places last night.
