Guys, if anyone's posting over in the iRacing forums anywhere - I'd really appreciate it if you could add my footer to your posts as I'm determined to generate some awareness over there.

To add a footer you literally just have to copy and paste the code from this text file into the bottom of your post.

Just in case you're wondering, I stuck it in a text file as every time I post it here it appears as an image obviously!

I noticed on iRacing forums there is no option to create a signature so the code would have to be pasted each time when posting, is that right?

Yeah afraid so - sorry I know it's not the most convenient but it's helping the greater cause!

I tried posting that bit at the bottom of my message and what it does is screw up the formatting of the entire message - the message looks like it was typed by someone without the "space" and "enter" keys.... If its a short message it didn't matter but the other longer post looked horrid.

Anyway around that?

Thx

My bad Kruger - apologies. Somehow managed to break it during the upload process.

Should be all good now...

I must be doing something wrong... I went back to the link in the first post here, opened the text file, copied the code and pasted it as follows:

(example of forum message)

Paragraph 1

Paragraph 2

Paragraph 3

Code

What I get is:
Paragraph 1 Paragraph 2 Paragraph 3
Image

Why is it bunching up the text above, I can't put my finger on it?

Ahhh apologies, I should have realised - because you're including the <P> tags it's formatting the whole of the message as if it were HTML. To get the spaces you'd need to add

 for the line breaks.

I think maybe I'm asking a bit much here, don't worry if it's too much like hard work - it's a real shame they don't give you space for a permanent footer, does make the whole thing a bit of a faff.

This almost confused me, as it shows nothing in the message Smiley but I figured it out.

Phew, you're right, its going to be hard work, especially in longer messages, which I don't do often anyway...

Yeah don't worry mate - thanks for having a go anyway, much appreciated. I'll keep them for my own "strategic" postings about the place.

Ok - looks as if iRacing have updated their forum to a swanky new script which means signatures are a doddle.

I'd really appreciate it if as many of you as possible included the ACHF banner in yours....the code you need is as follows:-

Code:
<a href="https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R&group=262&theme=33" /><img src="http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/4807/srouforumfooter.jpg" />

If some of you wouldn't mind - it would be great if you could add this footer to your iRacing profiles to help generate some interest around their forums in the new series....code for cut 'n' paste below..

Code:
<a href="https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R&group=296&theme=33"><img src="http://www.upl.co/uploads/irocfooter-68.jpg" />

Many thanks!

is that what you want us to put in the signatures ?

I used this code :

Code:
[url=https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R&group=262&theme=33][img]http://www.upl.co/uploads/irocfooter-68.jpg[/img][/url]

Cheers Fred that'll be really good - the more we can spread the message across the other forums the better.

That is what I'd like you to use but you have to be really careful that it's the exact code I posted. If I use your link it takes me to the group homepage which isn't right.

They're identical links aside from the bit after "LM2R&group=" which should be "296" and not "292" as it appears in yours. Not sure how that happened but your best bet is just to copy and paste it from my post if you can...assuming you didn't already!
