The dedicated server doesn't time scale the same way the in-game server does. I believe it also depends on what scaling is set in the track .GDB.

OK, I had not looked at this part of the .gdb when choosing tracks to test with. Thanks for the info Dave, I will investigate further.

Not a criticism as I can only imagine the amount of work put in to creating changeable weather, but imho it has to be more reliable if we are going to use it.

I totally agree. The weather system is totally missing the point of its original intended purpose at the moment. Grin Don't worry, it will not be used in championship races until/if it is sorted properly. I can handle criticism as long as its constructive or highly humorous. Wink

I like the fact that the changeable weather is unreliable. We don't know what the real weather will bring although, we have a good idea within 30 minutes. In the real world, guys don't dive to the pit lane for wets till it is raining.

I used to enjoy the races when we used Dave's system but, some numpty started a conversation about how it could be improved:
https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=7297.0
In the end it was decided that it was better to have a bit more predictability in the weather that would be used so that people did not have to practise for all sorts of different weather possibilities. Also the races could be too much of a lottery some times for peoples liking.

After running the actual weather file used in last nights race on my own server, I discovered that I had the same looking sky and no overcast clouds. What happened was the weather system decided it will not rain but, we would have overcast conditions. The conditions value that it gave for overcast was 60 but, it should have been 62.5 - 65. At 60 we still get blue ish sky. It totally changes to overcast at 62. I am sure that some of the add on tracks are a bit tighter with the conditions values.

Conclusion; conditions values still need a bit of tweaking for add on tracks.

Also, the forecast was miles off. If we had overcast conditions then it should have reported light rain at the most, not normal rain which is what it did report.

Conclusion; Level of potential error needs to be reduced but, there may be more to this issue than that. Looking into it now.

So the 997 seemed to be stuttering through some of the gears.... it sounded like it had a missfire lol. anyone else notice this?
I'm not sure if it is was something to do with my setup or an underlying problem with the car?.  Hope it's not a problem with
the car itself because I was planning on using it for the S13.

Just tried it again with the same setup on the same track and it's not stuttering at all, so I checked the replay and couldn't hear it stuttering their either. I guess my computer must have been playing up  Huh

Also while watching the replay I noticed that I closed the door on Leggzy and nearly took him off the track early on in the race Embarrassed , Sorry mate I never realised you were along side me, That explains why you seemed a bit nervous around me.
If I knew what I had done I would have let u passed on the straight....again sorry.

It was nice to be back racing here last night and see a good turn out. Didn't test much in the week, just picked the Lister because its a car i know i get on well with and i fancied a change from the Aston. Not sure what car i will use for the season yet though. Hooked up a PB for pole after quite a few attempts but i was worried by the pace of Ruskus in the Viper in sector one, if he got even a sniff of my wing on the straight it was game over.

Luckily i got the jump on him at the start and had enough of a gap to make it to the chicane without getting overtaken. After that the Listers superior handling in the final sector kept me ahead, depsite loosing time up the hill in sector one on every lap. It was a good battle as we stayed around three seconds apart for ages before the stops. After the stops i was fifteen seconds ahead, presumably the Viper is more thirsty than the Lister and this accounted for the advantage. Apart from a few scary slides as my rear tyres got a little hot the rest of the race went well. As always the GTC's were great and let me past easily when being lapped  Cool

I won't be here for next week as i'm going to watch the BTCC at Snetterton but i will be back for the week after!

I had to take 90 litres at the stop, but to lose 10 seconds would mean the Lister needed only 60 litres  Huh . I actually entered the pit too fast, so I have no clue how on earth I could lose the time.

My start was crap cause I reacted to your brakelights which seemed to be flickering from time to time, so when we approached T1 I saw your lights come on and I braked out of reaction, eventhough we were miles from T1  Grin. I knew I had to get a good start, so when the gap was already that big it was game over. After that I was hoping for the rain... Roll Eyes

API and I had the reverse of Ruskus and Jayblue's lap 1 battle. I tucked up under API's rear wing with my Viper and blew by him on the straight on lap 1. The ebb and flow of the big power vs. good handling car kept he and I entertained until I came in for my stop. I took more fuel and he didn't even take tires so he came out well ahead after the stop cementing his 1st place position.  Smart drive API.

I thought we agreed we'd not tell TT Roll Eyes Grin

No problem. It was funny because when I was behind you I seemed so much faster & could attack/harass you at most corners. But once I did get past, I could not shake you at all despite you not seeming to have the same kind of chances. Weird Huh You kept good pressure on though & I think I eventually lost it in the fast chicane at the top of the hill & went sideways into the barrier.

Elected not to change my soft/meds expecting rain later and a quick pit onto inters or wets. The rain held off and my laptimes fell and I eventually crashed heavily. Pitted for long repairs but decided to call it a night shortly afterwards.
Not a criticism as I can only imagine the amount of work put in to creating changeable weather, but imho it has to be more reliable if we are going to use it.
I both agree & disagree Undecided Grin
I too was banking on the rain coming late & despite picking up about 9+ secs of aero damage at about 1/3 of the race distance, I hung out there as long as my fuel would last waiting for the rain. While doing that lost me a fair bit of time, at least I was making what was hopefully an informed decision that would hopefully have been the correct one (given that forecast) more times than wrong.
Having said that, that's the 3rd race out of three that has had generated weather, each predicting light rain at least. Obviously none have done it, which is a bit of a shame, but I'm sure H@L will get to the bottom of it. (not that I'm expecting too much rain in Dubai laugh)

Ah sorry  Embarrassed

The brake pedal potentiometer on my G25 must be playing up again (i had it cleaned a few months ago) and sometimes my brake light flash when i'm not touching the pedal. Now that i know about it i will try to fix it again. Seems my throttle is also not working properly as i also tested that last night and it won't stay on full throttle but keeps fluctuating on the control input page in the game. As the wheel is out of warranty i will take my chances on fixing it.

I was using 6.1l per lap in the Lister and started with a full tank, my entry to pit road wasn't perfect either  Huh

I had that a while ago. I took the top plate off the pedals and cleaned the pots. First with an air cleaner and then I sprayed the pots with Servisol Super 10. I keep a dust cover over the pedals now when I am nut using them and they have not gone wrong again since. Smiley
