Following some truly excellent praccy and not too shabby qually I well and truly embarrassed myself by forgetting to select 1st gear on the start grid  oops

And my race went downhill after that. Numerous mistakes meant that by half race distance I was two laps down and driving a very 2nd hand Lotus. It took one final clout of the armco to kill the thing and I was left a spectator. Great track to race at and also to watch racing at. Amazed to see Legzy slowing and letting drivers by with a flash of his lights. But to drop from a certain 2nd to 5th must have been galling to say the least, tough break mate. Wouldn't a splash and dash have been a better prospect? or is that the wisdom of hindsight.

Oh well it's on to Pembrey and I don't even get a Lotus drive this time  Sad

Thanks to everyone who turned out and made this race so MONSTER. And special mention to those racing heroes who choose to take the Aston and Healy, respect guys.

Excellent series Tony, great mix of cars. thumbup2 The Elan didn't dominate as some expected. I'm sure it is capable of doing 51s laps but I couldn't get the handling right particularly through Gerards & the Esses.

Race was great, got 4th on the grid & held onto it on lap 1 despite Legzy trying to claim it. I wasn't quite able to run the pace of the front 3 so just tried to keep it neat & tidy. Got into 3rd when Spter had on off before the Hairpin, but only held onto it for a couple of laps as I ran slightly wide at Gerards lapping Eifelblitz & spun. Dropped to 7th behind Syd & Navin, caught them after a few laps & found it easier to get past than I expected.

Was now up to 4th as Jaqen H'ghar had pitted. Legzy was around 8s ahead but try as I might, I couldn't close the gap. Had settled for 4th until Legzy suddenly slowed (bad luck with the fuel Legzy) & I moved into 3rd, which very nearly became 2nd when Sqter too slowed in the last couple of laps & I was right on his bumper across the line.

Congrats to PR & Sqter  clap clap

Cya all at Pembrey.  Grin

Last time we were here I did quite well in the Aston against the Ferri250 and the Healey. Jag and Elan
are that bit quicker though, so struggled to match the Jag drivers pace consistently this time
Started well, passed a couple of people 1st lap and half, then my race became chase when I had
a misunderstanding with Pete Stenning, not sure it was all your fault, if I'd have realised you were
so close I would have stayed left rather than cut accross on the line. I did something similar a few weeks
ago with Lazlow in GTR2 not realising he was so close. After that I slowly got dropped by Phil and Ade
tyres went off badly, though I could still do a good lap now and then, managed to keep Pete behind
for a while, but went straight on at T1 letting him by. Special K didn't quite catch me, though he was closing
Probably should have taken the Jag here, I prefer to chuck the Aston around when it's competitive
though it can be a bit agricultural.
I'll do some testing at Pembrey and see, as I now will be here for next week. I will miss Cadwell
which is a huge shame as it's one of my fave tracks, and I will be away for Brands.
Aston will probably work well at Castle Combe unless it's the one with the silly chicanes.

Seems like you were not the only one with this problem HK. Pelle was at the server before me without any problems and then after I joined he got the never ending loading thing with my name  Then he left to try and fix a problem that didn't exists.. When he tried to rejoin he couldn't get back in . Weird for sure..
We did have a few problems a few years back with the ukgtl db4.
Usually, it was linked either the person not able to join not having our db4 installed (ie they got the db4 from nogrip) or someone was using the red #33 db4, that always seemed to cause a problem Undecided
I wasn't aware of that so thanks for the heads up. Do you know when this occurred and I'll see if the past post's through up any info. I can always remove rogue Astons from the server to prevent selection.
I've had a bit of a search, the only thing I've found is this Tony https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=6225.msg110226#msg110226
It was related to what I was trying to get Dave to look at, but I never explained it there at all Embarrassed
I remember discussing it in 'in game chat' with SBG who was running the show at the time, but if it's on the forum, I can't find it. Sad

Think your idea of deleting that one UKGTR DB4 from the server, would likely help, but people still need to make sure they've got the UKGTL version of any car Tony posts that we're racing with, there are sometimes subtle important differences i believe Undecided

Another disappointing night.  Got below 55 sec in practice, just but couldn't match it in qualifying.  Made a good start and took advantage of other people's errors got up to 10th I think.  Had a few laps trying to fight off Matt in his Aston, got a bit ragged at times and eventually did what I'd been dreading all night - mounted the kerb on the inside of the hairpin.  I spent almost exactly one of Matt's laps to get off eventually cycling the up and down gear shift paddles as fast as I could to try and rock it off.  Went up in front of Matt and got off just as he approach it again.  After that it went from bad to worse.  Tony got hooked up on the kerb as well I think and I started to catch him and another driver who I passed.  Almost immediately I almost spun but held it stopping in the process a couple laps I spun again and went to outside of the hairpin where I had to wait for a gaggle of racing overtakers.  Later I did almost a repeat right on the apex facing back the track with another gaggle of cars approaching, so I quit post haste.

Last finisher - as usual - lol.

The pitstops are killing me. Planned one stop for fuel at least because I was sure that there would have been some damage to repair. So I had to pit for fuel.

But even without pitting I would have finished on last place.

It's not that serious on tracks i know better like the Nordschleife and Bathurst but
I'll have to improve my driving skills during the next races and also have to work
on my concentration.

Also my equipment is not very professional - don't know what you guys use.
I have a (cheap) FlashFire Wheel which cannot be fixed right and sit in a normal office chair.
Maybe a better equipment could bring some better laptimes and so on......

But - the main thing is: fun!

And it's very funny driving with you online. Thanks for that.

See you next week.

It's not the equipment, it's how you use it  Wink
