Apologies to Drake for the tap in quali. I didn't want to say sorry then because I'm a firm believer in no chat during quali and race.

Let me be the first to say (maybe it already has been said) that the Aston is an AWEFUL car to drive in this series. Actually, awful in caps isn't strong enough. If I could join future races without it on my machine I would install it immediately! It doesn't have any straight line speed advantage to the Jag and it is horrible in the corners compared to it. I had to drastically reduce tire pressures to get any speed out of it in the corners, but that left me horrific tire wear and an unprovable car with 20 laps to go. I finished the race with the bar completely empty on the left rear.

It is a very rare occurrence to see me crash in a race, yet I crashed twice in this one. Look for me in a Jag next time out.

Congrats to Paulo for a fine drive.

Enjoyed that. Had been creeping the power diff up during practice as it felt more stable, but seemed to
make the rear wear much worse than I had been getting, consequently I had to pit so took all 4 while
I was at it.  the wear was at 1/3 left at half distance. Ah well was fun race all the same
Will be banished to Aberdeen all next week, so will miss my beloved Cadwell, back for Castle Combe
then am stuck in London Christmas week, so will miss The last event.
EDIT: I love the Aston, on a long enough straight it is a bit faster than the Jag I think, but lumbers
round the corners so slowly It doesn't get out fast enough. It is rarely faster than the Jag anywhere
But I find it more fun. I would probably be using Jag at Cadwell if I was there though  Grin
I am more interested in enjoying myself than trying to win, If I thought I might win against this level
of opposition I guess I might use the fastest car more.

You must take the Lotus Mike. At Cadwell it's unbeatable.

Thought I finished 5th or 6th? I was 1st car 1 lap down. How did I get a DQ?

It was looking pretty good for team Aston for a little while.. I think Mike, myself and Matt were 2,3 and 4 at one point in the race Grin. Was having a good run for 2nd or 3rd until my computer froze with 5 laps to go  Roll Eyes. I recently have had some freezing with my old but normally reliable computer. I think I might have a memory stick going bad Huh. Will have to some troubleshooting before Thursdays PnG race Wink.

Grats to Paulo for another stellar performance Grin. Also to Sqter and Legzy for their solid podiums. Cheers fellas and thank you Tony for all your work Wink

Replay has you 5th after Navin dropped. I think you got DQ because you drove over the banking at the end
on your way to Cardiff and left the "track"

Mike, I'll check the replay and if required, try to correct the results table.

EDIT: Replay confirms that Mike finished 5th. Results have been revised to reflect this.

Thanks for the review and update Tony. I decided to do my best "Dukes of Hazzard" and jump the berm. I did a full twist in the process.

Disappointing night, got screwed by the weather.  Tolerant wife drives herself about locally.  After my mornings jobs are done - allows me to get in a final pre-race practice to sort out line and braking points.  Monday, as I'm the one with all the bad weather driving experience, I drove my wife to the dentist and from there on to do the grocery shopping run.  By the time we'd unpacked and put the car away I didn't really have time to do much.  Afternoons are relaxing time - retirement time management.

Practice and qualifying was terrible - too many trips over the hedge and spins.Made a reasonable start in the race and passed some spinning cars but then spun on T1 dropping back to last.  Started to catch up Tony and SpecialKS (I think - the tag looks like his usual GTLDK one E*********)  and actually passed him before throwing it all away at the next corner.  Made far too many unforced errors, including late on in the race moving over to allow PR to take the line through a corner only to spin on the apex and nearly take him out.

Only consistent period was late in the race after Tony went hedge hopping and he started to catch me and the incentive plus those extra laps of  practice enabled me to put in a string of consistent laps setting a new PB in the process.
