All members welcome.

Grid/server capacity: 28

Practice: ~19:20 (60 mins)
Qualifying: 20:20 (20 mins)
Race: 20:40 (42 laps = ~50mins)

Track: Castle Combe Download this
Cars allowed: Jaguar E-type, Aston Martin DB4 Download this, Austin Healey, Austin Healey Roadster Download this

Lotus Elan available only to new drivers and anyone placed 17th or below in the Championship standings

This race will be run using the UKGTL Skin Pack 1.8.0.0 which will need to be installed prior to racing.

Time of Day Setting: 14:00
Start: STANDING
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: Normal

Server: "www.simracing.org.uk"
Password: see above

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) Driver lists can be found on the championship standings page
(4) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car

If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: Pole sitter may have trouble seeing the start lights. Suggest they have the countdown switched on.

From the Readme

This version of Castle Combe,is based on Matt Lucas` original track,he made for Peter Close,
some simmers were asking for the Chicaned version, both Phil and I wanted to improve this great little track ..
but rather than  just release an update to add the improved lighting, enhanced paddock etc,so had a go at making the Chicanes, which in the end,  became  more than a makeover of a rebuilt track.....

so it not only has the two chicanes and lots of tree placement corrected,  grass banks were remade,  based on the all  of the feedback, motivation, photos, testing and time from Peter Close,  whose first hand knowledge has been invaluable in helping this version to look and feel more like the real track, which having new barriers,Curbs, and posts at Chicanes, made
and addition of  wire catch fencing, (two types), replaced Guard rails ..using Peters photos of the  track, which also enabled the  Pirelli corner signs to made,
the StartGantry and of course added Startlights and pitlights,
redid the Avon bridge, now also has the Green Gates and some of the buildings were retextured using the photos,
made and added new Road textures for track and pit road,
more in keeping with the real track and GTL,
made a new Haywall at the inside of track,
made and added the wires to remodelled electric pylons in field,
made and added marshal posts, made and added a land mass to create distant land,
and a number of other extras, like the addition of wooden rails on the grass banks by chicanes etc..
and of course a new AI to use the new layout:)

along with the all the Thanks that go to Peter Close,
thanks also go to  Aad Gagesteijn (Aad1810) for the excellent loading screen
and special thanks to Matt Lucas, who gave us the original track, a long time ago, where it has appeared in several forms of ...
this track can be Installed into your GTL\GameData\Locations folder..and then just select  CastleCombe Chicaned,, it will run along side the original...

So are we using the chicane version or not Tony?

(As the 'download this' version has chicanes in it I think I've answered my own question).

Tony

Please forgive my use of the forum for this from Liverpool Motor CLub
but some members might want to attend?
I am planning to go.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear All,

I would like to remind you of  our special Christmas Film Evening on Tuesday 14th December 2010, which will start at 7.30pm.

Full details of the evening are below but we would also request that attendees bring items for the raffle with a Christmas Spirit! – wine, spirits, food etc.

In addition to yourselves, we have invited the major motor racing and speed event related Clubs in the North West to attend as our guests, so we anticipate a great night!

Main Event: The Jim Evans Collection

A great opportunity to see fabulous rare footage of Club Racing at Aintree from the 1970s to 1982, plus fly-on-the-wall film of one of the famous Tuesday evening test sessions from the 1970s.

Come and reminisce and watch drivers, cars and personalities from this golden era including Eddie Jordan, Gerry Marshall, Richard Peacock, Colin Bennett, Val Mussetti, Ian Smith, George “Wellie” Potter, Tony Sugden, Graham Hughes, Alo Lawler, and Kim Mather in F1, F2, F3, Formula Atlantic, FF2000, Formula Ford, Special Saloons, Mod Sports and Production Saloons…plus candid cameos of notable event officials and marshals in action! These films have been professionally transferred to DVD by North West Film Archive…this will be their first public showing in digital format. Don’t miss itPlus…footage from 1955 British Grand Prix, 55 years on.

Plus…the recent BBC TV “inside Out” programme filmed at Aintree, featuring Donington Grand Prix Collection’s 1957 Vanwall, Andrew Wareing’s ex-Graham Hill 1964 BRM and Alistair Hibbert’s original 1954 Aston Martin DB2/4, which took part in Aintree’s first ever race in 1954.

Plus….a much earlier long lost  T.V. programme featuring a Longton sprint at Three Sisters!

Plus…Details of the 2011 Ormskirk “Grand Prix”, and how you can play your part!!!

Plus…free hot mince pies to the first 50 through the door!

We look forward to seeing you on the night!

Club Members and Invited Clubs & Guests Free! Non-members £3.00 on the door. Raffle.

Limited edition Copies of the Jim Evans DVD will be available to purchase on the evening.

All meetings take place in The Aintree Suite at the Park Hotel, Dunnings Bridge Road, Netherton, Liverpool L30 6XN. On the A5036, just a few minutes from M58 / M57 / A59 junction and half a mile from the Aintree circuit

Oh well that was fun while it lasted. Was managing to keep tibs at bay when a back marker braked right in front of me at the final turn  Roll Eyes sent me careering into the tyrewall. Didn't fancy continuing after that !
