How on earth did you work out the nb chip was at fault? Pretty much everything gets routed through there.

Hey Spanner,

MSI sent me a program to diagnose the MB. I also have a program that runs a stress test. The MSI program showed errors on the chip and it was running very hot. Apparently this MB has had a history of burning up these chips. The cooling system for this chip is pretty spectacular which was one of the reasons I bought it.  Huh

I think it happened last month when I was flying my Albatros low over the Somme River and a crack shot of Aussies hit my engine LOL.

Took th G25 pedals apart and all being well no more flickering brake lights or dodgy throttle for me in this one  Cool

Expecting a good race here, Dubai is a great track and really highlights how important good racing lines are to get a fast time. Hoping to start the championship well with a good turn out Sunday evening.

I got my new system up and running. It works very well  Grin. Thanks Truetom for the set ups  Cool. I plan on practicing a bunch on Saturday to continue to get to know the racing lines on the track.

Did some more running tonight and was doing low 55's with 100L onboard in the Aston and the Saleen, though the Saleen needs a bit more work to it as the front doesn't want to bite no matter how stiff i go.

you need more pace spanner, even i was managing late 1:53's race pace with 1hr fuel onboard and i am carp at GT1  Grin

Still undecided on my GT1 chariot, C6 is my probable option as never used it for a season but want to try the Aston too.

Try softening the front fast bump and rebound a little and doing the opposite on the rear, and stiffen the rear arb a bit too relative to the front to give a more oversteery balance. My race pace is in the 52's, i know the track very well so i have only done a handful of laps mainly just to get my strategy right (i hope!)

I remember when i used to do hotlaps here a few years ago in the 550 and my absolute best was 1:50.9, and that was really as fast as i could possibly go. In the same car now i am in the 49's!  Shocked Just goes to show how practice can make the seemingly impossible quite achieveable.

Yeah, well i guess last week was an ominous start, looks like its gonna be a lonely season at the back Angry

I've never quite got on with oversteering cars. I've dropped the rear slow bump at the rear to help give me more traction, i've played with fast bump front and rear but havent really noticed a difference. I find if i increase the rear arb i start losing the back too much, and stiffening up the rear and it feels like its not allowing the car to turn.

It just feels like i dont have the grip, the front doesnt want to turn and the rear lieks to get away a bit.

I just seem to be struggling in everything at the moment. Oh god of simracing what have i done to upset you? angel

My race pace is high 55s in the C6R - my usual form in GTR2  Roll Eyes At least the noise from that v8 will keep me smiling.

I'm trying to avoid the popular 'fastest' cars in the classes, GT1 C6, GTC 997, but i can see i'll have to join you at some stage if i'm still struggling!

Well that makes me feel much better  Undecided  I'm in the "fastest" car and at the back of the grid. And if I manage by some miracle to finish midfield, that's ok because I was in the "fastest" car  Roll Eyes

I thought the whole point of balancing was so that each could choose the car they prefer and still be on par with everyone else.

Its impossible to balance the car pack, there are too many variables to consider such as the type of track used and car setup. And thats before you even begin to factor in the drivers skill and technique, car handling preferences and fuel loads. I've been there and tried it testing out cars and trying equal the playing field, there is always an advantage for one type of car on some tracks or in the hands of a particular driver. My advice is to just pick whatever car you feel best in, most at home with, and forget the whole "fastest" car debate.

As long as we all have someone to race with it can still be great fun, whether its battling for first or last position  Cool

The idea of balancing the cars, as I understand it Goldtop is that:

All cars have different characteristics & naturally do better at some tracks then others. Balancing is ongoing & is aimed at making all cars as equal as possible over a range of tracks.

Following that, I can't imagine the C6 you're in being an obvious winner at Dubai. While at the Le Mans event... Cool

I totally agree Jayblue and Legzy. My post was a sarcastic response to Spanner's comment about what he perceives to be the "fastest" cars (and btw, was not meant to be offensive to you Spanner  angel)

Easiest car to drive would be the Lister. Doesn' need a whole lot to set up, so...

Spanner, if you have a setup for any track that you have been semi satisfied with, just use it here. I find I can use my Spa or Dubai setup on almost every circuit with minimum adjustments. A new track? Let's try it with Dubai setup. Dubai suits me as my "natural" track and I use it as my base. I made laps with Saleen, C6R, MC12, Lambo and Marcos. Made under 1:52 in all except Marcos (1:53:7xx) and if I can do it you can also. Cheesy Or, if you need a setup, shout. I'm sure you will find it undrivable like others did. Tongue
