Before you two came on, we had a handful of very dodgy drivers (smash em up style), which was a little dissapointing as there were certianly plenty that wanted to race properly. We were also maxed out on the server for quite a while, doing double header mini sprints with full grids (hence why I reduced the number of AI).
I think that opening up the server is great, but any server admins present should make use of the ability to ban drivers IMO. If we can clear off a few idiots, I can only see that helping see more proper drivers coming/staying on.

Chris

p.s. the AI on the current setting were doing pb's of between 50.6 & 51.8 I think it was. While I saw 5/6 regular UKRace07 drivers doing 50.6 or better, so probably not a bad place for the AI Undecided.
p.p.s. Forgot to mention it was great fun laugh

had intended to join you late last night but didnt make it. Hope i can join you later for the race.

Re the public drivers, always worth watching them via the monitor to check on standards. If its the odd incident its more foregiving as they may be rookie drivers, but if they look like demo derby, couldnt care less types then yes, hit the 'heave-ho' button  Grin
Did you tell any of them about the league/site/race via chat ?

I got GTR Evo + Race 07 last week after MJs suggestion so I thought I'd check out the Caterhams last night on the SRoUK server. What a blast! It was only 5 laps per race but it was knackering - not a moments let up. The multiplayer aspect in Race 07 is a lot slicker than GTR 2; it seems to be better organised and has a flow to it. There didn't seem to be any lag either.

I was using the Cat200 dry setup for Brands indy that is provided within the game. It drove ok but has anybody got another setup for these Cats that is worth using?

I shall endeavour to join to tonight but real life may intervene Sad

I did experience a bit of lag, i.e. more than on our regular races. Also, with an open server we will get drivers who will drive ok, but will not care less of our league and will not hesistate drive roughly and then quit if the things won't go as they tried. Once we use mods this will all be different as they won't be able to join without it. So an auto message might also contain a message about our site and the Championships we're prepairing so that the potential guys can see where to go.
Cats are ok for fun, but I'm more interested in proper GT racing, i.e. Porsche Cup, GT1 mod, etc. MJ's findings are worth pursuing, I think. Smiley

Been having a look at automated messaging to promote our league.......

We already have GTR2 Server Manager installed which would work for our GTR2 and PnG servers. Unfortunately a search around revealed that there is no equivalent for Race 07/Evo and I'm not sure that it would work for GTL either Sad

Here's an idea...how about naming all our practice servers "www.simracing.org.uk"  Smiley Several leagues have cottoned on to this free publicity, so why shouldn't we? We could obviously still retain the passwords and even the race names for race nights. I suppose the only downside might be that we'd be a little more accessible for spammers etc.

Race 1
First disappointing Race07 race I've had. Punted off on the outside of L1 T2 & got to enjoy recovering myself while nobody waited Sad
Caught up to the back of the pack again for the start of lap 4, but distracted by a car leaving the pits at the same time & as I looked back up, a gaggle of cars had backed up & it was hit them or gamble on going wide & probably the sand... which turned out to be the wall. Limped round on three wheels, but it wouldn't let me repair. :'(

So having started tonight with a good chance of fighting to be championship runner up or 3rd... best/worst I can do now is 4th I think. Shame.

Ah well, on to Race 2....

Race 2
Much better, took it very cautious at the start to avoid any possible tangles. Unfortunately, that meant that only Tony was behind me & the next 3 drivers were all AI. Managed to pick my way past them over a bunch of laps, but then I was just pushing to hard to make up lost ground on the next group of drivers.... & I started taking trips to the grass/sand. Ah, well, it just wasn't meant to be.

Congrats to all who finished, & well done the season podiums... I'll have to try even harder next season.

Well done to Goldtop for having the balls to put this on & a big thanks to his "mystery secretary" ( Wink)for posting up all the races thumbup1

I thought that was great fun, very intense close racing for both rounds.  Cool

Despite my first forray into the caterhams in about 2 years, i had a great time mixing it up with some good drivers.

First race was a fantastic battle with Mcfids and then Picnic in particularly. I was knackered at the end of 24 laps of concentration and hard racing and sweating like a peeg! I also had suspension damage from early on when Tony went all over the shop at exit of druids !
But then only got about 40 seconds respite before race 2 started which is hard work  Tongue whilst others had plenty of rest from early exits in race 1  Roll Eyes
Battled for 7th for most of race with Mcfids and Ade until i span on the graham hill exit kerb and lost 3 places  Sad had a little fight with legz but he disapeared off at clearways and i dragged my car around to finish 9th.

couldnt believe some of the drivers were AI  Shocked i kept thinking they were new drivers recruited from the lobby !  laugh So refreshing to see a full grid after an age of small turnouts  Smiley  The grid full of colourful caterhams looked ace on the s/f straight at Brands  Cool

Congrats to Ginsters (even if he did use an illegal exit at paddock every lap  Wink ) and well done podys.

Results and replays in the usual places

Congrats to Ian for a resounding championship win  Cool to nsfast for runner up  Cool and that other bloke for 3rd place whose name I'm far too modest to mention here  Grin

Thanks to all who took part during this season, I hope you had as much fun as I did.

A big thanks again to Tony (my secretary  Kiss) for all that behind the scenes technical stuff, without whose help this wouldn't have happened  Cool

Next week we're off testing in sunny Spain with the Clios. I have a funny feeling that the racing will be even closer and more intense than this season. If you've not tried them yet, give 'em a go....you might be pleasantly surprised  Smiley

Grats to ginsters for a really stunning Championship seazure. And I wish I was there sooner. Wink

Had a good time racing yesterday, was not fast enough to catch ginsters and I'd like to blame it to not enough laps in this sim. angel Having a blast in Race now and will try porker mod over the weekend. Smiley

When ginsters was behind me it seemed like a there was a bit of warping - was it? Or was it just your fearsome appearance too close in my mirror? Grin

R2 was a bit disappointing last night. There were a lot of AI in front of me on grid and in all honesty they didn't present much of a challenge. I watched where they were slow in R1 and simply overtook them in exactly the same points. They seem to follow the same route lap after lap to me? Picnic and TT were much more fun but those fights didn't last long. I seemed to by suffering quite badly with warp and wondered if that did for them, especially TT who had a very odd slow speed spin.

Still, the season as a whole as been great fun. Congrats to nsfast, tudor and all that took part. I will not take part in next series if PnG 3 arrives at MARA but it looks most likely that you are stuck with me  Smiley

Must just say that the arguments about whether Race or GTR are a bit like arguing whether Salt n Vinegar are better than Cheese n Onion Crisps. They are both great. Its simply that Race offers something new and exciting to me after years of GTR2 and I'm thoroughly enjoying it. Therefore, on a selfish level, I'd like to see more of it here. That said, I wouldn't be surprised if GTR2 offers something new and exciting to me in six months time Smiley

Disappointing end of the season for me. Unlike last week the Cat/tgrack combo was awesome. The drifting in to T1 and the last one were huge fun and controllable. In the first race I came over the brow in to T1 only to find a car parked sideways across the track at the apex. Hit hard enough to bend the suspension. That lost me some places and I was now in the magical 8th position, pole for race 2. Trouble was the 3 secs I had to the cars behind was quikcly dropping and I still had half the race to go. McFids and then MJ were both very fair and never made a move that would end in an accident. It was obvious to me where I was much slower but fortunately these places were the easy ones to defend.

So started R2 on pole and jumped out to a 1.5 sec lead after L1 as TT and SbG battled passed the AI cars. Once they closed me down they both made me look pedestrian. TT spun and I got 2nd back. Would have been happy with a 3rd if TT had caught and passed me again but the ADSL had different ideas and the line reset Sad Dead last from what should have been 3rd.

Congrates to SbG with is dominant championship win. Did I hear someone say ballast handicaps for runaway victors for the Clios  Wink
