Race 1: fina****ingly got the hang of the Honda RA272 to post a top time, and was hanging back to avoid pushing myself into any overtake. That let Al through then he ended up dropping back after Natan and he tangled

Not me Jethro - I was behind you the whole time & only got ahead after you got caught up in the John-Sam tangle. Not sure how I managed to avoid all the debris though!
Ah, probably best I view the replay and enjoy the carnage then. Cheesy

Everyone knows that million-to-one chances happen 9 times out of 10. Why the hell do I keep crashing then?!

I don't know what you lot are going on about - I had some fantastically close racing...

... with the armco, the kerbs, gravel traps etc.

I also managed to go slower in the 67 than the 66  Angry

Nigel zoomed past me out of the Parabolica - I want his gears, mine were *!@?**

65s - Had a slow start but managed to hang onto Steve B, Vosblod (Tim) and Maddog (Martin).  Some great close racing until the last lap at Lesmo 1.  Tim took a defensive inside line so Maddog went for the outside and I followed.  We both went in a bit hot and our back ends stepped out unfortunately I ended up railriding on the armco which wouldn't have been too bad if I hadn't suffered warp contact with JR.  JR seems to have got past cleanly on the inside but clear warp contact caused my car to explode all over the track.  Pity, after challenging Tim and Martin for a podium place on the last lap I ended up almost dead last Sad.

66s - Got a much better start.  In fact too good and I was right on the tail of Evil when we entered the Curva Grande.  I stayed on the outside but warp contact punted me into the armco and carnage ensued.  Sorry gents (not sure if my connection is at fault, is my car warping more than most??).  Got going and had a decent battle with Martin until we touched in Lesmo 1 and I ended up perched on top of the armco.  Reset and ended up practically last but thanks to some serious destruction derby driving (not by me I hasten to add) I ended up 8th!!

67s - A much cleaner race.  In fact no incidents whatsoever for me.  Had a good clean battle with J Hali and Bob in the early laps before Bob crashed and Juha pulled away.

Overall a great event for me.  Really liked the format.

65`s - ran a creditable 11th, battling hard  with  two hondas (nigel and ronnie i think) right up to Lesmo on the last lap when Phils upside lotus caused me to go into the barriers. Recovered to a disapointed 14th

66`s - Welcome to disco city. something major wrong with my 66 install i think. Worked fine in single player mode but repeatedly CTD online Sad

67`s - Not used the 67`s at monza since since 2005 so had to build a setup from scratch and it was rubbish! Stable enough on the gas, quick enough to steer but dreadful on the brakes, pulling hard left under heavy braking! Net result was an off at either Lesmo1 or Parabolica on every lap. Great side-by-side finish with Nigels Honda though - just 0.01 apart Cheesy

Appalling level of driving etiquette at times by all concerned (me included) and on this evidence shift R is not something I am looking forward to when the season starts. BUT, great fun and a really entertaining set of races. As someone else mentioned a series where all types of cars have to be used in a season sounds interesting (mix of 65,66,67 and 69?). Thanks again Vos a fantastic season curtain raiser. rockon

Fully agree Ronnie , that's why allowing S/R is a bad idea , if you have to use it then of corse a compulsory pits in should be enforced, trouble is there can often be doubt followed by too much post race debate over who was at fault . In any case when S/R is deployed,  the " re-join " often can , and does, cause further problems for those running behind .

Strange you should say that as a compulsory stop and only one Shift/R is what is being applied in the Privateers.
In general we are a PRO league but the exception is the 'learner' division(s) ie Novices (and Privateers to a lesser degree). We need to encourage those coming up through the ranks and the Shift/R options on offer do mean there is a penalty to be had in the Stop and Go factor.
In theory GPL will not let you respawn until the track is clear but this doesn't always work in practice, so common sense needs to be applied ie wait until you can hear the track is clear, don't immediately Sh/R if you were in a queue of traffic etc. Actual track rejoins are addressed per the guidelines here.

shift R is not something I am looking forward to when the season starts
Anyone who prefers PRO does, of course, have the option of joining the higher 65/67 leagues ie Amateurs and Works.

Not for fun races, we don't have that much free webspace. Servers always welcome  Wink

Not sure how much demand there is for replays, I tend to download them from Mike's server soon after the race so I have got a permanent copy. If people do want them maybe we could look at online storage like Dropbox or something similar.

We are OK thanks to Mike iro replays for the 'official' races although we only tend to keep a seasons worth on his server.
Beyond that, if anyone is willing to store old replays for download, that would be great. If there is a big demand for the server replays for fun races we could ask Mike nicely if we can put them up for say three months. To be honest, as the events are not moderated, it didn't seem critical to have the servers point of view available on top of the client copy.
