Great to be back in the F430 & I think it's finally back to a more level pace with the rest of the cars (except the 997 & Panoz which are still too fast & the RSR that is still a little off pace). he says finishing 4th in a gaggle of F430's ahead of the only 'apparently dominate 997' still trying that old bleat Legzy? the F430 is plenty capable in GT2. Didnt race last night by choice. Love GT2, love Laguna but bit like P&G did for GTL for me, Evo GT is doing the same to GTR2, ie making it feel outdated and outclassed. (in my humble opinion). Am sure there is plenty of good racing to be had with GTR2 so will be back no doubt for the new season, though i wish it was spiced up with something new. This was just a fun race so i passed for a natural break. Good turnout for a fun jobby.

Seriously MJ, F430 is very close to the pack now. Try it yourself. There Were a couple of comments on TS that it is now too slow! all drivers seemed to be struggling with it in it in praccy, So I swapped to it from the faster 997 to show that it was still competative. I was chugged to just pip Spanner on the grid . I think you'll see from the grid that it is now more in the pack. In terms of my finish position, I drove very well & caught a couple of lucky breaks We were just missing a pro 997 driver like yourself to prove my point about the 997 P.s. What I did forget to say was, how great it was to see another good new track (for UKGTR2) being used.

Thinking about it though in an out and out sprint i think the 997 just has the edge however last night, in these races, i have to change tyres whereas by the sounds of you dont need to in the F430 which is where it gains. I did fall off early on and so would have hoped to finished a bit higher. I'm sure such a dedicated Porsche drive like yourself MJ wouldnt have. Well, we did miss you MJ Good to see Jorgen back from the dead. Oh, Jamera i have just the things for you and your connection! https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=8841.0

Info for next race here: https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=8856#event2546Nice race last night. I could not keep up with API or Lazlow or Busi. I was having a good fight with Picnic for the first half of the race until his pit issues. Very fun track, well done podiums. Thanks for taking part, it was a good turn out. Good to see Jorgen helping out the Team Pseudo score. See you all at the next one.

It is the nicest of the GT2 Porka's to drive IMO... but sadly it still seems to be about 1sec of pace at most tracks. It probably needs another +2% torque I reckon. I would say the other two easiest cars in our GT2 class to drive, would be the BMW & F430, I assume you've given them a go. Thinking about it though in an out and out sprint i think the 997 just has the edge however last night, in these races, i have to change tyres whereas by the sounds of you don't need to in the F430 which is where it gains. I would agree that the F430 becomes a better choice for an enduro than it is for a sprint. Not so much because of any minor tyre benefit (the 997 is more than capable of doing the distance on one set, remember it's only 60mins now ), but more because it is probably the easiest to drive.... Meaning you make less mistakes. But as you said last night Spanner, "to get a decent laptime in the F430 now, you really have to throw it about" (Music to my ears it was ).

I don't think it lacks grunt, it's just that it seems to be so awkward into the corners compared to the standard car (for me anyway). I think it needs a porka expert to compare them and advise what should be done to balance, as atm it's not a viable choice in this company (imho).

Removing weight might help then, that's the other standard balancing trick used in the packs. Out of interest, when you say "it's awkward into corners", I guess you mean it oversteers?

My base setup on the standard car just feels very balanced and I'm able to carry speed, but the same setup on the pack car just makes it unpredictable. Like I say....it needs to be tested by someone who knows what they're doing and I reckon the standard car would be the best place to start.
The 997 RSR for me is just an awful drive and it seems crazy that this mod is the weapon of choice over what (to me) is a much better base car.

i find the 996 to be very understeery on corner entry - some of the other cars can be hustled around much more effectively.

It's very different how you set it up, Blito. Make it soft in front, low coast diff, brakes bias to the back and watch it spin in every corner. A lot can be done with the setup, I even managed to make Marcos turn at Le Mans. Not too well, I admit, but in S10 I couldn't do even that.

Hi Guys, apologies for the lagging, thought it may have been the wireless as suggested last week so I was hardwired for the race, but clearly no better. Anyway after much ranting at Virgin they have admitted that there has been a major fault in my area since before xmas that they were working to fix. I checked this evening and they have said it is now done, we shall see!!!!
