It put you 12th CLive, maybe Mike will want to move you.

Where should you have finished Clive? I'll have to look at the replay. If you were as close as you say then I'd be happy to restore your true finish position.

i can vouch that Clive was behind me on the final laps, so he should be 7th...as long as he didnt run out of fuel  Wink

Hotkeys, i only made one trip off piste all eve when i lost confidence in my fuel readings and started fiddling with fuel to be put in via xpd !...lost my rhythm and ran wide stupidly.  Embarrassed  (oh and later on when i lapped prib  Shocked )

Woo! My first podium in P&G! dead chuffed even if it was because I found myself blessed by the green group's unexpected top trump  whistling

Was particularily nice to have what appeared to be a fairly even fight with Lorenzo until I enevitably ended up playing sandcastles at about 1/3rd distance Grin
I'm guessing Lorenzo didn't change his tyres as just as my team of grease monkeys finished filling me up he stormed past on the S/F straight, I had only intended to change the rears (after last weeks closing stages tyre fail) but stupidly pressed enter before deselecting the fronts so had all 4 tyres replaced  censored
That put payed to any (tiny) chance of challenging Lorenzo and finishing 1st, I rejoined a few seconds down on Mike (didn't realise for about 2 laps until I actually read the pit board) and steadily chased him down.
Mike was then kind enough to fall off just as I was about to have to find a way past, giving me an easy 2nd - which I promptly threw away with 2 laps to go with an unforced error/spin.
Gritted my headlights and switched my angry teeth on ( Wink )and pushed as hard as I could on light fuel loads desperate to reclaim 2nd.
Caught Mike on the S/F straight at the beginning of the final lap and powered past into T1, where he promptly lost the rear end and span off onto the beach  Grin
I took the remainder of the lap in a no risks style and claimed a healthy finish  angel

Thankyou for the racing guys, especially the standard of driving - It was faultless all round  thumbup1 (mine probably wasn't ninja )
Gotta say that it was huge fun drifting the L72 about, I'm happy to drive it somewhere twisty as suggested - I'll come last but will be smiling more than the winners Wink  Tongue

A frustrating race for me. I knew I was going to be slow but thought I better get a race in so I can drive something faster next time Wink

Sorry to Mike for tapping you into the gravel when you were lapping me just before the pit stops. I was distracted trying to check my fuel and ended up with a wheel on the grass.  Angry

After my pitstop I bumbled along but the motivation was gone, and decided to quit rather than ruin anyone else's race.

Well for a first complete race in PnG in quite awhile I was really happy with a good finish. That was a nice scrap with Paulo and Clive for a few laps. I had to pull over for about 5 seconds because my frame rate went to almost nothing. Got to my first stop and I too first forgot about the kill ignition switch Tongue to get fuel but did remember after a few seconds. After everyone else cycled through their stops I was just a couple of seconds behind Ade and was able to just hang on for most of the end of the run so at least it was engaging trying to catch him. Lots of fun fellas Smiley A big congrats to Lorenzo for a great win. And to FMG and Mike with there solid podium spots. Good stuff..

Cheers Mike,

I finished about five seconds down on MJ.

I had a screen freeze in practice and just made it back into qualifying with about nine minutes to go.  Just had time for one flying lap and another excursion to find out where my pit crew were hiding.

I was in the middle of the grid and the big white shed in front of me didn't move when the lights changed.  I had to lift and that bogged me down so I was one place off last at the first corner.

Had some fun trying to make my way forward and went for an early stop.

Towards the end I came across MJ, probably after his stop, but I couldn't keep hold of him.

Then I crossed the line and disconnected. Sad

Grats to Lorenzo, Tim, Mike and Stig.  Especially Lorenzo and Stig!!!!   SBRC's finest PnG hour.

Plagued with gremlins in practice 1 and quali last night. Login errors, discos, shiny tracks, strange ffb but all thankfully cured in time for the race. With no quali time, I started last which is about where I would have been anyway. Unfortunately I forgot to load my race fuel, so had to make an early stop Roll Eyes Ended up having nice little chases with Sandor and Tim, but made too many silly mistakes trying to make up time.

Quite like the L76 Roadster as it seems pretty nimble for a tank. Looks like I'll have a broader choice next time out though.

Congrats to pody and all Cool

Not a great fun for me, my car choice was simply wrong. No chances of overtake because the L76 was slower even than the 275 on the straights.
If I have to do a comment, I can only say that this time the spread between the 2 car in front and the others was impossible to fill anyway, and I don't like to take more than 5 seconds on race pace. This race system let close races only if the faster drivers are all in the right group (Yellow or at least Orange), especially in a circuit like Road America with all these straights.
It's not a chance that the gap in qualifying session in Road Atlanta between 1st and 10th classified in qualif was 2.6 seconds, and this time the difference between 1st and 3rd was 2.2 seconds (between 1st and 10th 7.2 seconds)... Is this a close race?!? Not for me...
In this field of cars, and in the right hands, you can't even come close to a car like the L72. It's clear that if this car is driven by 2 fast drivers as Lorenzo Galluzzi e T.Muttram the race is over before it starts...
I'm not polemic, I'm only observing what's up in yesterday race.

There's maybe a couple of options to avoid these things during the champ:
1) Assign no points to drivers that push esc before the checkered flag (like me yesterday), and assign no classement position on the spreadsheet. So, in my case I will have a double damage if I leave the race, because I will stay in the same group in which I was before this race (Yellow) and I take no points in classification.
2) Assign championship points even if I don't see the checkered flag (with a 70% rule or something similar to gain points on a single race), but not considering my final position on the spreadsheet. So I will collect points, but I'm always in the yellow group if I push esc for every reason like yesterday before seeing the checkered flag.
3) In case at the first champ race, in which we will be in the same group (yellow), a driver will push esc for some reason, instead of giving him an advantage of going in the green group as it happened yesterday with Lorenzo and Tomas, it could be good to assign a "default" ESC position on the spreadsheet (for example 10th position). So if you don't finish the race, and push ESC, you will be considered 10th on the spreadsheet, and you will not jump 2 car groups, but only one, and probably it will be more difficult to see races like that of yesterday... that for me are NOT RACES.

In this way, there will be probably an higher gap in general classement between slower and faster drivers, and the constance of results of people that finish the race will have a prize! Evenmore this system makes sure that you are in every race in the right group, and we will not see races like yesterday.
It depends on what's the champ Target.
If the Championship Target is to have a small points gap in general classification, probably we will see some races like this the first time a good driver push esc for any reason.
If the Target is have close races (That's my FAVOURITE TARGET), we have to limit the chances for a fast driver to be in the green group with a car like the L72. It's a car put in that group to let the slower people to close the gap with faster, not to let a fast driver destroy the field. AM I WRONG?

That's my idea, I hope to have not said idiocy, and to have been clear in explaining these options.

I hope to have some feedback by the organizer Smiley

I think Manteos has presented a couple very good options to better manage car assignments. The spread between the performance in the GT cars has proven to be a little larger between the Yellow and Green groups compared to the Ankle Biters, especially with the L72. Like others mentioned, the L72 vette will not always be the best car choice. It may not be so with Silverstone coming up next week. The same holds true for the Falcon I drove last night. While it was a crazy handful to keep going straight, the motor benefit outweighed the handling faults for Road America. Giving drivers the option to choose different cars each week adds to the enjoyment of driving for some. Remember that anyone in the Orange group can drive a car from Orange or Yellow. A driver in the Green group can drive any car.

Manteos' first option is a fantastic idea, but the results can't distinguish a difference between an escape and a disco. This presents a bit of a challenge when assigning car group based upon finish order only for those who finished. Those who disco may be penalized early on. Realistically though, this is only a threat early in the season. As races are finished, the drivers group should be established fairly quickly. Like Manteos said earlier, the point of the handicapped system is to give those with less speed the opportunity to dice with other drivers they may not necessarily be around with equal cars. The point of the series is to produce as much close racing as possible with varying levels of skill and experience on track.

With that said, I will score Road America's round as I have done in the past. That is a DNF will be counted towards the car grouping. Going forward car grouping will be calculated based on your average finish position for those drivers who finish. If you crash out in a fiery blaze, no points. If you escape, no points. If you disco, no points. I think this will reduce the runaway effect of the quicker cars and continue to produce close racing.

I just reviewed the replay and found Clive was in 7th place on his last lap with a sizable lead over MJ. He disco'd on the last lap. I did not see any evidence of fuel conservation so I'd be happy to try to restore your position Clive.

I had this happen to me after a 3 hour race once. I know what it's like to feel your pain.

Good ideas Manteos and Mike. I think the 70% rule could also be used for these enduro events, we need to encourage people to make an effort to stay in the race rather than quitting out after an early ding or spin.

As event organiser perhaps you can also be 'race steward' Mike? in that if somebody hops into a green class car that we know is going to blow the field away, the driver is politely requested to drive something more reasonable for the sake of close racing. I dont think relying on a previous result where a quick driver got a dnf or no-show prevents them jumping into race winning machinery at present. As Manteos mentioned, they shouldnt be able to choose higher than middle group cars at best.

The first two races of this new series have been great classic-car endurance events  Cool

shame that L72 was so dominant but boy did it sound good !

edit....err Mike, aint no way Clive had a sizeable lead over me !...he was 5-6 secs behind me when he disco'd !!
