Looks like I need more practice in the Cooper or a WR lap to base my driving against. I'd clearly forgotten how to drive Mosport and didn't really think I'd be given the Cooper after last season.

Quite pleased with that result.  My qually time was a PB by some considerable margin but way off Hristo's incredible pace.  Had a reasonable start for me, lost a couple of places but at least I didn't end up last.  I was comfortable with my setup and I tried to drive consistently instead of my usual trick of over doing it and spinning off.  It worked and I managed to complete the race without going off (I ran wide in T3 at one stage, I didn't spin but I couldn't get the power down till I got all 4 wheels back on the black stuff.  Apart from loosing a bit of momentum - no problem).  Steve was on my tail in the early stages but seemed to have a problem and dropped back a bit and my pit board showed a 5 second gap.  I settled into what was a boring period in the race from an overtaking point of view because there was no way I was going to catch any of the leaders.  The boredom didn't last long though, Steve got his act together and relentlessly closed the gap.  I managed to stay cool and not throw it away like I normally do.  Crossed the line just a few yards ahead of Steve.

Thanks to FMG for the server, no incidents to report.  Didn't see any shunts either so hopefully the moderating workload will be light.

Good points
- Won the opening round of my private battle with Steve (after having been soundly beaten by him last season Tongue)
- Didn't get lapped for the first time ever in an Amateurs race (I think)

Bad Points
- Need to find at least second a lap to be in a position to challenge for a podium Angry

Was good fun Phil, but if you'd be kind enough to start spinning off again that would be great  Tongue

Enjoyed it though, hopefully I too can find some time and start making some of the faster boys look in their mirrors now and again.

Phil (and Steve), judging by the laptimes you're only half a second off the podium, and you don't actually need to find half a second to be in contention - slipstream would do the rest. So a few tenths is all you need.

First, Congrats to H for the win and KH for a nice race finish to 3rd.

So, the S20A is on it`s way and it begun OK for me. Due to a rather poor qulai performance I never got in the position to challenge H for the lead but I did a pretty OK race and picked up positions when others made mistakes and finished second. 4Th on the grid and 5Th fastest race lap mean that my second position was due to consistency and that is good I think.

Well, things will get more difficult in races to come, Evil will be back, and I am feeling the breath down my neck from the rest of you and I am not that good under pressure so maybe I have to begin to work on my physics.

Also I like to thank Tim for a well done first championship server running and for having the result and replay in place so quick.

Göran

Consistancy is the single most important aspect of racing IMO.
The only time I would put a championship down to out right speed for me, was last season due to just how fast I was in the BT11 - Every other win I've managed was simply through finishing relatively highly at near enough every event. And most of those positions were gaurenteed through simply falling off less than the opposition  Smiley
I won S16's Novice trophy with only one win all season - I now work to the rule of consistency first, pushing for speed 2nd (A damn site easier said than done now I'm in the BT7 mind  Grin )

Agree with that 100%

I won a championship without a single race win .

Steady driving and consistancy is the key , Oh! and a large dose of luck in avoiding the oppositions driving errors  Wink

Don't complain and don't encourage 'em - you don't want to end up like the Nov's race  Grin
