As Clive is doing laptimes of 1.43, is 27 laps the correct distance for a 1 hour race?

I'm really making a mess of this one. 27 laps was last weeks race. This one was supposed to be 35. I've gotta get more organized with my practice notes. The race announcement has been updated to 35 laps.

Just had a quick go. Nice. That's exactly(ish) how I remember Silverstone to be from playing Microprose Grand Prix back in about '91 Undecided

As someone who often went to Silverstone as a kid in the 60s & 70s, the one thing I dislike about this version of the track is, it is far too narrow. Needs to be at least twice the width.

Not sure which car to take for this  Huh. Tried both the GT350 & the 275GTB & cannot get a setup for either which I'm satisfied with. 1.44s in both.

I'm back in the Z06 for this one by the look of things, still havn't downloaded the track yet as usual  Roll Eyes

At least I should know the layout quite well, even if my setup is another 'all right on the night' special Wink

Really enjoyed the 1st half, totally action packed! Cool
2nd half was the complete opposite, apart from lapping a few cars, the closest I was to a rival car was 10 secs away as I left the pits.

I think I'm slowly coming to the conclusion, that to hold races longer than 40mins with grids smaller than 20, takes the edge of the experience of the night (what ever the sim). It's just that the majority of action happens in the 1st 20 mins, nine times out of ten. Not totally made up my mind yet Undecided

p.s. Great debut for the Team Oldie "Rookie" Wink, how did the Soggy Bottom's get on tonight? Grin

Results and Replay are posted.

It was non-stop action for me. The pit stop is key to the balancing of these cars. Manteos entered the pits in 3rd and just eeked out in front of me (i entered pit in 2nd) by 2 seconds. Paulo must have changed tires as he was a further 15+ seconds back after the pit sequence.

Before the pit, Paulo and I were very close to one another. I would gobble him up under braking and he would run away in the straight bits. We both made a mistake and damaged the front of our cars which allowed the orange brigade (Manteos, Clive and Ade) to close up the gap. Once Paulo and I settled the lead postion (he rightfully earned it) he and I put our head down and started lapping quickly again.

After the pit sequence, I couldn't close the gap to Manteos. Instead, I completely rooted my tires and fell way off the pace. Paulo had no trouble gobbling me up and then took the fight to Manteos. From the looks of the results, it looked like Manteos held on by the hair of this chinny chin chin. I enjoyed the race with you guys.

Next week is a non-championship battle at Hockenheim 1999. Eventhough the race link says Hockenheim (GP) we will be running the 1999 version. Dave has not returned from holidays yet. I'll ask him to update the database when he returns. Again, this is a non-points fun event next week. Car will be the Porsche 906 (any variant except the 906/8). We'll be running a sprint format.

Big congrats to Manteos for an amazing win just holding off that big block Vette Smiley. And congrats to both Paulo and Mike for their solid podium spots Wink.

I had a great time battling for a lot of the race. Mostly with FMG which was a great close battle Wink but also had some nice dices with API and Legzy.Lots of clean hard fought racing Grin A pleasure to be racing with you chaps Cheesy And thank you Mike for all your efforts in putting the races together Cool

Really enjoyed the 1st half, totally action packed! Cool
2nd half was the complete opposite, apart from lapping a few cars, the closest I was to a rival car was 10 secs away as I left the pits.

Sounds exactly like my race Legzy.

After quallying 4th ( Huh how did that happen) I made a couple of mistakes in the early laps & dropped to around 8th/9th place & had a good battle with API & Lorenzo for a few laps until they both went grass-tracking. By this time Legzy was close behind & the gap to him stayed around 2s until I pitted. Thats when things went wrong!  Roll Eyes

Overshot my pit & had to go around again, fortunately just had enough fuel. But I spun at Becketts on that lap which lost more time. Came out after my second stop around 15s behind Legzy but although I was gaining a little each lap, I was never going to catch him before the end.

Got a little bored the last few laps & started experimenting with different lines & braking points in an effort to go quicker which inevitably led to some mistakes. I had two big crashes, one at Becketts (again) & on the final lap at Abbey when I was 0.5s up on my previous best lap. The buildings at Abbey have no substance, by the way, I just went straight through them  laugh Tough car that Fezza, it still drove fine after all that accident damage!

Congrats to Manteos, PR & Mike. clap clap clap
