Race 2: 9 laps

Track: Spa Download this

Time of Day Setting: 14:00
Weather: DRY
Start: STANDING
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: Normal

Server: www.simracing.org.uk

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) Driver lists can be found on the championship standings page

Special Notes: The grid procedure for Race 07 events is slightly different from GTL/GTR2. Upon joining the grid, you won't be able to rev your engine until all drivers are present on the grid. Do not attempt to esc back to garage or you will be DQ'd.

This should be a blast! Anyone tried it yet? Its like being strapped into a very feisty fast go-kart and let loose on one of the worlds most demanding race tracks !....great fun  Grin
The ffb feeds back just like a karts steering, through your hands and arms vigorously! Its visceral  Cool

The cat is surprisingly understeery here and you really have to hussle it through the corners but loving it so far.
2:35 as a first target time though only done about 6 laps so should be easy to beat  Tongue The real quick drivers will stand out here i reckon. Shame i wont get much praccy time now the missus is off  Roll Eyes

Haven't done many flying laps round here yet, but I too hope to be on the server later this evening chasing my best so far of 2:35.

Regards ffb, I find it very tweakable depending on what car I'm driving. I usually keep the overall ffb strength set the same from car to car but adjust my steering force to suit so that it is very light and only really noticeable under loading. Another one of the nice features of Race/Evo is that it's easy to refine this in game without having to delve into plr files.

There have been a few comments regards inclusion of AI in these series. Overall I believe they've been worth having, but they do vary in quality from track to track. I've found that when I've made mistakes in races, they've given me something to chase down although they have also created a few first lap worries.  Undecided

I'd like to keep them for this race unless anyone has any objections, but I would advise giving them a wide berth first time through Eau Rouge.

A 2:32.5 for me from a quick 6 lap session.

I'm enjoying this car/track combo.  Grin

Whats the key to setting these things up then?  Had a quick go last night and was able to do a 1.32.8 but was a bit messy.  I thought these would be oversteery but not the case.

I'll try and join tonight.

thought race 1 was excellent fun. Cool Had great battles throughout with Goldtop, Lazlow and a pair of 'never give up' AI drivers. Fought between 5th and 9th the whole race despite getting suspension damage on lap 1. Alas with two laps remaining whilst sitting a hard earned 5th and with finally a few second gap back to GT, my car got extremely understeery...tyres probably worn out? and i just couldnt get any decent lines through the corners, running very wide and GT got by, rapidly followed by the two AI and Lazlow, demoting me to 9th  Sad  GT then had an incident at Eau rouge and i limped home to get 8th, which actually felt poor reward for so much hard racing !  Lips Sealed

As usual wasnt intending to do race 2 to keep the peace, but thought will do what ive done before for 2nd event, keep going until an incident happens then leave. Nearly ended on the s/f line ! For some reason my G25 gets crossed up under ffb for race 2 and when the light went green and i floored it, i went hard turn right towards the wall  Shocked  Embarrassed  Everyone behind must have thought whats that idiot doing  Roll Eyes Got all out of sync going up eau rouge, lost a few places but chased Lazlow (again!) hard for a few laps until a dithering AI car made me slam the anchors on and speared into a concrete wall...d'oh!, end of.

Am clearly missing a caterham setup or driving trick as couldnt get near the top 5 on track, even a 2:32 qual lap only put me 8th  Huh  Shocked Couldnt seem to dial out enough understeer despite trying the normal tricks.

Cant we change the format of these races? Dont see why we need 20min qual session then two 20min races.  Huh  If qual was reduced to 10 mins it would mean i could probably make both races, but even then i'd rather it was one race 30-40mins long. And i think the AI should stay in, they do add to the occasion filling the grids out and making it feel a proper race and some of them drive very well and aggressively, albeit some are dumb-as....but hey, no dumber than some humans have raced here  Tongue...and yes i include myself in that!  Grin

Now imagine how cool these Evo GT's would be racing here at Spa............................. thumbup1

Enjoyed that last night.

Surprised to get pole but muffed the start when i hesitated slightly and Lazlow and TT went by either side of me going into En Rouge  Shocked

Lazlow then made a small mistake and i got by, but he was stuck to my bumper for a few laps until he had a strange moment at the final corner which let me concertrate on TT but as hard as i pushed i couldn't catch him.

Race 2 was good fun racing the quick AI at certain points but slow at the bus stop which caught TT out a few times and i was sneaky and got by him. Again tried to catch Ade in the lead but couldn't do it.

Well done TT And Ade for the wins.

Good to be back on track with you guys after a VERY frustrating time with my internet.

No problem GT.  Smiley

There was some very good racing last night on this excellent track. AI also played their part in keeping things interesting - particularly in Race 2.  Cheesy  Just a shame more didn't join in.

What a full on couple of races last night.

A friend called in to see us and I managed to talk him into staying to watch the race. We were then also joined by my 10 year old....no pressure then Smiley

Never put a lap properly together in quali....I blame it on the running commentary I was trying to give and my manflu. Consequently I started near the back.

A good start and I'd made a few positions by the top of the hill. Had a great few laps battling with MJ and Lazlow until I made a slight error letting them both through. They both made mistakes later in the race and I was through to 5th entering the final lap. Unfortunately I ran wide on the exit of Red Water and had a race ending crunch into the barriers. Had to laugh at my race manager...." You have a suspension problem"....obviously hadn't noticed my front wheel bouncing across the track  Roll Eyes

Starting right at the back, Race 2 was spent mostly battling the AI which were excellent here around most of the lap and were a real challenge, for me anyway. I managed to pull off a couple of nice outbraking passes on them into Les Coombes and was pleased to make it to the end in 8th.

Congrats to those at the sharp end and thanks to all who turned up. Nice to see some new/old faces here too which I hope promises well for the rest of the season  Cool

Sorry for the no show chaps, but I just never enjoy Spa. I did try some laps as it's obviously my 1st time there with these cars... but it was just the same old story, not for me thanks.

Was nice to drive here, as always. Smiley Set a pb but only scored 3rd on the grid. Gazza fell asleep and was really scary to pass him and not know where Lazlow is. Left plenty of room just in case and I guess he did the same. I then just focused on being consistent and made it. 2nd race was expectedly more difficult, again mostly 'cause of the AI drivers. Though, not having them would reveal the small number of drivers and their contribution also made the race more interesting, if somewhat nervous. Finaly got by, gritting my teeth as I was certainly robbed of a place or two. I'm certain it will make Championship even more interesting. Smiley Great dicing with Gazza, Ade, Nsfast and Lazlow. Cool

Seriously guys, you don't know what you're missing. Undecided
