have to admit i inwardly groaned when i saw Touring cars this week instead of caterhams, but after trying them out at this excellently modded track, i think they are great!  Smiley  My missus was out so i cranked up the volume to similar real in-car and gawd do these cars sound excellent considering they are touring cars. Evo/race has easily the best Sim race engine sounds ive heard in any race sim, they're spot on  Cool
Try it ! the throbbing tick over of the BMW was making my window panes vibrate  Shocked

Only tried the Bmw E30 and an alfa so far. Was 1:51 in both, no idea if thats competitive at all. The cars feel mega over the kerbs and through the chicanes here.

A great track for these cars especially, as MJ said, through the chicanes. There is one corner where you will roll over at least once until you adjust your line Smiley

Managed a 1.49 so far in the Honda. I think tyre wear is going to play a big part in the race.

Now you've got me worried that I'm running an incorrect version of the track especially as I've haven't joined the SRoUK server yet!

From my testing, those times seem about right.

My best time in the Honda is 1:49 but I would find that tough to achieve in race without the tyre performance dropping off very quickly. The BMWs were slower for me with a best of 1:50/1:51 but were less prone to tyre wear.

Anyway, I think the nature of this track makes hotlap times less important than usual with so many places to lose time through pushing too hard and lots of obvious overtaking opportunities. Can I please request a little patience on lap 1 as that first chicane and the following hairpin are particularly hazardous. I seem to remember someone causing a bit of cuffuffle in the cats race last season, can't recall exactly who that might have been though  Embarrassed  angel

I'm really struggling to get the hang of this track, i cant seem to judge the corners right at the moment. I swear the real life track is completely different and its hard to re learn it clean. I cant seem to stay on the track Sad

Plus my braking 'issue' is hindering me a bit. Think i'll start using the clutch pedal as a brake for this.

The track is a different layout to the usual one as used by BTCC and others where the infield section is slightly shorter and there is no chicane just after the s/f line. Hopefully someone will eventually do a revamp which includes the shorter more commonly used layout.

I'm using it from the start, never bothered with the "real" thing. Wink

Not sure what happened there. Think I must have discoed because there was no-one else on the grid when I went to race. Very strange Huh

Hope you all got off ok and had good races.

Edit: I'm having trouble posting the results for this event, so they will be delayed.

I really enjoyed last nights racing probably because I got my first SRoUK win  Grin

Started 4th on the grid for the first race and had a great battle with Ade and Picnic in the early stages until Picnic pulled away. By this point my tyres had started to go off and I had Ade swarming all over my car for the remaining part of the race. Held him off to finish 2nd.

The AI seemed to go nuts at start of the 2nd race. One span right in front of me at T1 and I just managed to miss him and, luckily, I found myself in front. From there it was a steady run to the finish - although my front tyres had melted with 30 wear. Smiley

Just started to get the hang of this after changing my braking to the clutch pedal but still my best was a 52 in practise so was very surprised with my qually time. First race was pretty quiet with a big gap ahead and was just watch the gap to Matt behind.

Second race was a nightmare having got hit at the first corner by the stupid AI ended up last. Then wasted too much time getting through the AI and was about 12 seconds away from the next real person. Shame about the finishing rate, there was only 4 of us finishing.

Not convinced about the AI, though round most of the track they were surprising normal but could easily pass them into the final hairpin.

I lost my patience as I couldn't go around AI. It was probably just an added frustration 'cause this track is [insert adjective of your choice]. I'm currently racing too much enough to be a bit picky about my choices. Wink

Grats on your first win, McFids. Cool

1st time i had seen this track, so was a mobile chicane at times, I'm not a great fan of these Oval/infield
things, though they can be fun at times. The AI were mostly ok last night, but were a bit unpredicable
in the chicanes, no more than I was I guess.. was getting in people's way a bit in race 2 and got off line
in the 1st chicane and totalled it, appologies to whoever got my wreckage in their way.
Not sure how much was me or the Pug, but it seemed slower here compared to Brands.
