I'm so sorry about ruining your race, Geoffers. Sad I completely missed my brake mark. Sorry. Embarrassed

No worries API, happens to us all.

Actually had quite a good race, after recovering from the 1st lap incident I had a good little battle with Bill until he ran wide at the final turn. Chased Ade for a few laps then blasted past on the straight, then caught Legzy & did the same. After the pitstops (I found my pitcrew this week Roll Eyes) I had a lonelyish race but enjoyed hurling the Mustang around & came home 6th.

Had one amusing incident when Eifelblitz spun into the bank at T3, his car looked like it had been shot out of a catapult as it hit the bank & flew over the track.  Cheesy

Congrats to the podium.

This was a typical before and after the pitstop race for me.

Before pitstop:
Nice race with close action all the time. Had Alex just behind /in front of me for many laps.
A big handicap was Hotkeys with his fierce smoking Ferrari just in front of us making it difficult to see anything  Grin

pitstop:
A typical Ferrari pitstop.
You stop and only ask for fuel. But they know better and decide to give you new tyres and a complete polish and wax of the car.....
Took me about 30 secs extra but the car looked as new.

After pitstop:
Alex was already gone in the distance and Bill was 30 secs behind me.
Had a very lonely second half and that forced me in some minor offs .

Unfortunately I have to miss the next race so no change for revenge.

It's not just the Ferrari mechanics Sandor - My Shelby pit crew did the same despite my having fitted 'hards' to the front and 'very hards' to the rear purely to avoid the dreaded tyre change  Roll Eyes

Add to that the fact I accidentally disabled my cockpit guages at the end of quallifying so I thought I'd stalled the car before racestart - Of course in my attempts to re-start I ended up turning the engine off just as the red lights came on  censored
Luckilly most of the field avoided my stationary tank, so I eventually pulled away in dead last - only to then spin in turn 3 just as I'd found the button to make my dials work again  :'(

By the time I reached double droit I could only see one car infront of me I was so far back - really hope my race next week goes better!

Sorry to (Bill I think) in the L72 who I rear ended while lapping - I'm sure I saw your brake lights come on just as I floored it to turn inside you on the exit of T1. Had no time to brake and couldn't avoid you as I was now over halfway across you towards the infield  Sad Hope I didn't ruin your race.

Pleased I finished last night - wasn't feeling too well earlier in the week, hence no show Monday and Wednesday.  Luckily I'd got the car setup over the weekend - having tested a number of cars first.  Managed to get some track time during the morning including a quick race to check out pit stops.  Apologies to the red Ferrari (?) I bumped in the pits - I thought I was well over to the Armco.

Set a new PB in practice but couldn't match it in qualifying.  Made a very good start - all those Yank Tank cu ins.  Kept out of trouble in the early laps and saw Geoffers behind me so I put the hammer down and went, luckily although I was slower in the tight corners I was able to get power down early and had good drive through the faster ones.  I braked later, used more throttle through the turns and accelerated earlier, until the inevitable happened and I over did it at the end of lap 8( set a new PB during those laps, breaking into the 1:25s.)  Did a repeat out of the last left hander, loosing a further place, took me a few laps to settle down again.  Thanks FullMetalGasket but I'd already spoilt the race myself by then, clipping the inside verge and spinning - haven't got use to that with P&G yet.  Got punted off again entering the main straight without causing any more damage.  Mark gave me some passing practice, quite chuffed to be able to drive around the outside of that fast right hander onto the back straight, also into and out of the turn at the end of the straight.  Pitted and just took on fuel - I have set up for a singe pit stop with a specified fuel load and only need to hit return, NOT actual do it with the direction key.

The drive after my pit stop was uneventful  apart from being spun off backwards and down a short steep bank.  Couldn't get the car up over the "lip" to get onto the track but had enough room to reverse onto the Armco and run parallel to the track and rejoin further down.  Feeling of D'ja view - in a UKGTL race a few weeks ago I overdid it and slid off sideways parking the car into a slot with about a foot clearance trapping me and causing me to quit.  Luckily the Yank Tanks are a bit more robust than BMW 320 Grp 5s.

A reasonable race that, despite the novelty pit speed limit and the fact that T1 was blind for a good deal of the race.

I started 5th on the grid and made a good getaway, to wedge my Ferrari between the two Mustangs of Lorenzo and Geoffers, API’s Ferrari having vacated the middle slot.  After the initial gain, the Mustangs then got into their stride and were back past both me and API by T1.

This left me fighting Navin in his Vette throughout T1 and since I was on the inside I prevailed. Grin

When we hit the straight I was able to slipstream and pass API well before the end of the straight but as I was braking for the Double Wasname I could see API steaming up the inside.  I stayed wide and let him hit Geoffers instead of me.  sweatdrop

That compromised my corner and I was then promptly mugged by both Manteos and Navin.  It also let Matt have a run at me into the following lefthander.

So I was back to fifth!

After a few laps, Matt went to the pits and after that I was able to chase down and pass Navin for third.

This left Navin and Mike fighting it out behind me and Manteos in front, with Lorenzo way off in the lead.

I found that I was catching Manteos and pulling away from Navin/Mike or was it Mike/Navin?  Anyway, I caught Manteos and actually passed him at one point, although he came straight back past me again.

I was happy following Manteos for a while but then we entered into the difficult phase of the race.  I really shouldn’t try to do mental arithmetic whilst driving.  I had originally intended to do an early stop to find some empty track for serious and consistent lapping but I realised that I was in the ideal place for that already.

So I changed strategy.  My lap times suffered as I tried to take 28 from 42 with any certainty and then to multiply the result by five.

Then I added in about ten litres for luck.  My lap times also suffered as I attempted to change the amount of fuel that would be put in.

My pit stop was about 33 seconds, apparently, but Mike just nipped past me as I emerged.  A lap down, Stig was just ahead of Mike, laying down enough smoke to hide a battleship!  It was difficult to see where the track was at times.  A pit stop might have been a good idea Stig.

I was still third because Lorenzo had obviously changed everything and gone for the full valet as well.  He started off about 18seconds behind me but was closing fast.

It looked as though I was going to make it but then I started to push, trying to close on Mike.  I made a couple of errors with my knackered tyres and Lorenzo was right with me and Mike was out of reach.

I didn’t put up much resistance to Lorenzo, my teamie, and so I was relegated to fourth.  Sadly for Lorenzo, he encountered a back marker two corners from home and I was able to reclaim third.

Grats to Manteos and Mike and tough luck Lorenzo.

Nice circuit.

Not happy at all about the race....
The car was fantastic, belanced, fast in the straights, and didn't deteriorate the tyres that much....apart the front ones, but i decided to change all the 4 tires in the pit stop and destroyed my race.....i think i need more experience to be competitive for the win in this league...

Cheers

Really good race for me! I won it on the strategy again  Tongue

Even this time I obtained a bad result in qualif session, but I knew that in race it would have been different using the other car trails during the first laps even with a full tank. Unexpectedly at the end of the main straight during the first lap, 2 cars in front of me had a contact, and I took advantage of this situation taking the inside of the right corner, reaching immediately the 2nd position, with some car chasing me with better laptimes. After some laps and a little mistake Clive passed me, but at the end of the main straight, I pulled the brake and I passed him again. My car became light enough to keep a good pace, and start to put a small gap on Clive lap after lap. At the same time, I tried to lose as less as possible by Lorenzo, that was really flying  Shocked Shocked
The hope was that of a tyre change of Lorenzo, or a little mistake in pit lane approach... Lorenzo anticipated the pit 2-3 laps before me, and I pulled as fast as possible to reduce the gap during his pit.
Lorenzo entered the pit lane with 18 seconds advantage on me, but he must have been very slow in his pit stop, cause I even lapped him during his pit. So I started to think that he surely changed the tyres, and that his pit was near to a disaster.
After my pit, without changing tyres obviously, I had some small fears about my refueling... but this was due to a wrong calculation. After I realized I would have finished my race with at least 7-8 litres, I started to turn quietly on the 25 every lap, trying to avoid any risk. Mike was 12 seconds behind me, Clive was close to him and Lorenzo after the pit was over than 30 seconds behind me, and even behind Legzy if I'm not wrong. With a better pit stop, Lorenzo would have surely win the race, but it needs a bit of training to make it in the less time possible, and it's sure that is a decisive moment for the race result.
Remember that to change the tyres you need 22-24 seconds, and that refuel up to 10 liters more than needed can cost you about 4 seconds. That advantage is obviously amplified if you make the pit as later as possible, (in this case Lorenzo probably put at least 15 litres more than me at the pit, and this makes about 6 seconds difference only on refueling time!!!)
It's difficult to gain an amount of seconds equal to that you lose to refuel much litres at the pit, starting the race with no full tank. This is probably wrong in this champ, with a 2X fuel consumption, cause it means that to have an advantage in starting with less weight, you have to push as a devil, risking so much without a great advantage in terms of laptimes, and with a sure disadvantage in terms of seconds needed to refuel.

Sorry to Bill for the tap when I lapped you, but I think you lift up the gas when I was behind you at the exit of the corner that bring to the main straight, and this was totally unpredictable for me. Try to lift up the gas only when the lapping driver is flanking you, if you want to make the life easier for the lapper, otherwise it becomes difficult to avoid a car that in front of you lift the gas on the straight or in acceleration after a corner, because there's no time to react for the following driver. However it was not my intention to hit you obviously, and I'm disappointed for this fact  Embarrassed

Thanks to the Oldie mechanics crew for the perfect job at the pit stop Wink
2nd race, and 2nd victory for the Oldies... not bad as a novice Tongue Tongue Grin!

But I survived!  Grin   Wink

First race with PnG, first race in a Corvette and some typical debutants mistakes for me.

4 (!) pit stops: first one it looked like another car was occupying my pit so I went back on the track,
second one I missed to fill up fuel  blink, third one I took less fuel due to a misreading  whistling
and forth finally all went well...
Although I would have finished in last place anyway, it wouldn't have been with 3 laps back to the next car.

However - great fun. Sorry Ade for the little nudge towards the end of the race.

Thank you guys for the friendly welcome and all the help you gave to me to make the game
work online and in case of setups.

Unofficial LapChart

I guess all is said about this good race (API's somersault, Stig's smokescreen, messing up pitstops).
Think much is related to the great track.. a little afraid how the new layout turns out.

Great turnout. A record for this reason I believe (18). Great to see some GTL/GPL regulars.

Fortunately we can leave the camper at the tracksite this time.

My suspension was damaged earlier in the race - not repaired at pit stop, so had to blip throttle to get sufficient turn in to avoid running wide.  I intended to stay on line and was not lifting for you to pass - been told perilously not to lift off in this situation for the very reason you say.  Just glad it did not ruin your race, last thing I want to do is ruin people's races.

Good race that. Lots of action in the 1st half & then the second was just a steady cruise to pick up the points.

Congrats to SpecialKS for 1st race, always great to see a new face. You'll be amazed at how you'll progress with each one you get under your belt. Cool

Looking very close now on drivers championship (if Mike can just have one bad race angel) & team championship is still alive (just), well order on the podium at least! (nervous yet Clive? Wink)

Tried taking the Mustang but dont enjoy driving any of the cars in my alloted group and dont feel there is a 'driveable/race-able' one
I agree MJ (which lets be honest is rare! Grin).

The only thing I dislike about this series (P4TN), is the car choice for the yellow group. They are all muscle cars. I don't enjoy muscle cars & I'm sure I'm not alone.
The Orange group has the F275 & the Green group has Lightweight Jag to give them 'happy' choices.
It just seems like the yellow group has a big hole & is crying out for something like the E-Type Roadster, which would fill it quite nicely IMO.
FYI:
Legzy in F275 in race trim              = 1:24.5
Legzy in E-Type Roadster race trim  = 1:26.1

Good thought on the E-Type Legzy. I'll have to do some testing with fuel usage to see if it is too much of an advantage for the Yellow group drivers..

Good thought on the E-Type Legzy. I'll have to do some testing with fuel usage to see if it is too much of an advantage for the Yellow group drivers..
If that E-Type roadster proves too fast/economical/kind to it's tyres... the next slower car in the game of that driving nature, would probably be the F250 Competizione.... which I can just about break a 1:26.9 with here... in case that helps. Smiley

I'm not in that yellow group, but if I was (or will be) I'd rather be possibly slower in a "nice" car, then driving something I don't enjoy. (having said that, the TransAm can be decent enough on the right track if you're able to put lots of practice in)
