Moderator's Report

A win for Hristo leaves him 4 points ahead of Tom with Al H close behind.
No reported incidents so a nice easy one to moderate.

Moderator's Report

A win for Ronnie leaves him at the top of the table.
No reported incidents but see below for a couple of issues.
A reminder to everyone that you should not pit out until there are 30 minutes of qually time left - this is to allow everone to join the server and create a level playing field.

Server replay time: 0

In qualification Hannah pits out with 32 minutes left. No penalty (this time) but please remember you should not pit out until there are 30 minutes or less left on the clock. This is to allow all drivers time to join the server.

Server replay time: 0h08m11s

Maddog takes a reset but does not subsequently take the mandatory stop and go nor attempts to. The rules are unequivocal on this;
"any driver taking more then ONE Shift-R OR failing to take a Stop & Go will be disqualified from the race result"

Hence there is a mandatory race disqualification.

Arriba! Arriba! it's on to Mexico for our next outing. In the Works Tom is leading Hristo while, over in the Privateers, Ronnie hovers above the old Clubmans Meister Bernie.

Subject to a viable number of entrants we are running two separate grids for Works and Privateers drivers this season. The Works will run on PRO Damage and Privateers will run on Intermediate Damage with the allowance of ONE shift-R reset. No Shift-Rs are allowed in practice unless authorized by the moderator. A Shift-R (fault or not) MUST be followed by a Stop & Go. A Shift-R for tyres/fuel is not allowed. Any driver taking more then ONE Shift-R OR failing to take a Stop & Go will be disqualified from the race result.

Race List = IGOR
Server(s);
Works = UKGPL_5
IP address = ping myjamesonline.net
Privateers = UKGPL_T7_2
IP address = 62.149.202.168
Race date = 21-11-2010
Time = 21:00 UK time
Track = Mexico City
Variant = 67F1
Damage Model = Works; PRO / Privateers; INT
Qualifying time = 35 minutes. Don't start until 30 mins left on clock to allow everyone to join.
Race length = 50 minutes (laps 28)
Password: see above

Please note in the event the IGOR racelist remains MIA instructions to join direct will be given out in the #UKGPL chatroom

Driver lists can be found on the championship standings page
The track can be downloaded from : original papy track
Add-on’s available at : http://srmz.net/index.php?showtopic=5009

Please be in IGOR UKGPL chatroom by 8:50 pm UK Time

Reserve drivers should not join the server(s) until there are only 30 minutes of qualifying left. Please restrict chat to pit messages. Moderating will be by reported incidents only, however the moderators reserve the right to review any incident with a particular emphasis on lap one. The aim is to review the race the following weekend so incident reports should be submitted within five days of the race (ie the following Friday). We're hopeful most incidents can be resolved amicably and recommend a days deep breath with a replay review before posting. A sorry in the forum won't be taken as an automatic admission of guilt by the moderators.

With the token system chassis strategy will be a factor. A driver must have sufficient tokens for the chassis he drives in the race.  Any driver who does not have sufficient tokens will be disqualified from the result and his tokens will be set to zero.

Chassis costs;
Lotus 20 / Eagle 17 / Ferrari 15 / Brabham 10 / Cooper 5 / Honda 3 / BRM 0

To see your current tokens hover your mouse over your total points on the championship standings page. Ten tokens will be added when you cross the start line.

The Championship is split into two sub-divisions, namely Works and Privateers. The driver split will be;

WORKS drivers
Kinghiro (R)
Evil Clive
Hristo
Tim FMG
Steve Bird
John Roberts
Al Heller
Vosblod
Jethro

Rick N (R)
JHalli (R)
Fulvio P (R)
Tommie van O (R)

This track is HARD! How in God's name does somebody do it in 1:50 in a 65. Sheesh. I'll be lucky to get 20 laps in if the Shift-R's don't get me... Sad

I've used up all of my tokens now so I'll be condemned to the BRM for the next two events while I save up enough to take the Ferrari again.

Before I joined this league I had never really driven the '67's in anger in years apart from fun race or two. When in a pickup race at Mosport while training for the UKGPL event I took the BRM for the first time in ages. It was then when it first dawned on me how horrible this car was! I was a second away from Al's times and giving it my all, but the gal didn't want to coöperate very well at all. Now I find out it's even worse at Mexico! All power comes at once, it doesn't drift, it doesn't brake, it doesn't go fast in a straight line, all it does is make a lot of noise and overheat the rear tires... I think I'll be at the other end of the grid here...

To make me feel more at home I made a red BRM P115. You can have it too, if you like. Backup your old brm4.3do first, though Smiley .

The BRM requires a different approach with the setup to make it work. It has more weight on the rear and more weight overall. That and the engine characteristics demand different suspension and differential settings. It can be quite a nice car to drive once you figure it out.  Grin

Now I must defend the BRM having driven it pretty much all the time here at UKGPL  Grin. I found no problem in sliding the car around the track  Huh. Having said that I've had to rely on mainly hotlapper's setups due to my own useless setup skills. That does mean the tyres overheat into goodness knows what range. Maybe that's why I slide so much  Grin.

I've never managed to cure the overheating problem, though it depends on the track. The car is just too heavy for these tires!

Tom, a tip for better handling: try 85/60/5 differential setting (don't ask why, but it works great).

It seems you hate the Honda around most places, perhaps you should get tips from Tom how to paint it green! Wink

Hmm I'll try that, thanks. Not been my week so far, and I missed out on the GPLRacer GT Fun Race just now due to bad luck with joining problems. Feeling frustrated and feel like taking it out on the BRM and drive it round for that elusive 1:50.xx ...

Just been out to buy a new graphics card, not sure it was a wise move Sapphire Radion 5670HD with no fan but the mother of all heatsinks...time will tell. The fan keeps stopping on my 9800GT, only just had the blighter repaired

Errm...what's the score with IGOR, my status shows as disconnected with no race list, though there are about 20 people on chat.  I know there were problems earlier in the week.  Is it just me with probs now?

Cheers,

Bob.

Hardware probs from our Igor host, Bob, is what I read from those who know.  Probably all the new GTs thrashing around.  They're heavier than single seaters, you know.  Perhaps we should've  been driving them around more carefully?

Cheers,

Just been on the chat and was forwarded to:

http://srmz.net/index.php?s=371639a96e7307a31e888325e4b83e67&showtopic=3719&st=936&p=54489&#entry54489)

Not much more info mind!

Quite like the GTs too, good to have a burn before people start getting too serious with setups and disappearing off into the distance (perhaps just my inability to set a car up)!

Who's leading the prayers to the IGOR gods?
