Moderator's Report

A win for Hristo leaves him 4 points ahead of Tom with Al H close behind.
No reported incidents so a nice easy one to moderate.

Moderator's Report

A win for Ronnie leaves him at the top of the table.
No reported incidents but see below for a couple of issues.
A reminder to everyone that you should not pit out until there are 30 minutes of qually time left - this is to allow everone to join the server and create a level playing field.

Server replay time: 0

In qualification Hannah pits out with 32 minutes left. No penalty (this time) but please remember you should not pit out until there are 30 minutes or less left on the clock. This is to allow all drivers time to join the server.

Server replay time: 0h08m11s

Maddog takes a reset but does not subsequently take the mandatory stop and go nor attempts to. The rules are unequivocal on this;
"any driver taking more then ONE Shift-R OR failing to take a Stop & Go will be disqualified from the race result"

Hence there is a mandatory race disqualification.

Join direct?  Are there some instructions on how to do that?  If not, can someone please write some below?

Cheers,

Bob.

Its not hard.
Start up the correct Mod of GPL directly (or via GEM).
Select the correct car via Team Info, if you need to, within GPL itself.
Select the Multiplayer option from the main screen (middle bottom) and when you click on the Green button you will open the Multiplayer options screen.
You will see options to Join or Host. Select the Join checkbox (top left) and type in the provided IP address into the IP Adress box below the Connect Via dropdown. This is all just below the Join checkbox. (If there is an address in the box already, just delete it using backspace.)
Click on Green and it will try to negotiate a connection.
That should be OK.

The most likely problem might be bandwidth mismatch. You may have to edit your core.ini file but if you get to that point you will need further advice from the host. I believe the normal settings are 3/84, 3/84

The settings for this are in the [Communication]
Mine are:
net_mdm_client_send_every = 3                ; Client packet freq on dialup
net_mdm_client_send_size = 84                ; Client packet size on dialup
net_mdm_server_send_every = 3                 ; Server packet freq on dialup
net_mdm_server_send_size = 384               ; Server packet size on dialup
net_server_port=0                             ; Server port number (0 = default)
net_use_mdm_bandwidth_for_tcp_ip=1            ; Use modem bandwidthfor TCP/IP - 1 = Use net_mdm_ settings *

I've had no major issues. There are other settings but these are the critical ones, I believe.

Hope that helps and isn't too confusing.

To join direct , fire up GEM , click on the green GPL button as if your doing an "off line" race or practise .
Next choose Multiplayer (instead of single race / training )

Type in the I.P. Address exactly in the box at l.h.s. top

All the GEM and bandwidth settings BadBlood talks about are the same issues whether you join direct or via IGOR or VROC.

To join direct you don't have to fire up GEM.  just start GPL on it's own and follow this bit of Badblood's explanation

Quote

So you just have to type in the IP address directly in GPL.  Incidentally URLs work too.  So if you want to connect to Mike's server UKGPL.5 all you have to do is type in www.jamesonline.net and it will find the server.

Mike must have started GPL on his server of course - that is the main benefit of IGOR you get a list of the servers running races.  To run the league we don't actually need IGOR provided the server is started exactly on time i.e. 9:00pm UK time in most cases.  All the drivers need to do is wait until 9:00pm and type the IP and password into GPL.

This track is HARD! How in God's name does somebody do it in 1:50 in a 65. Sheesh. I'll be lucky to get 20 laps in if the Shift-R's don't get me... Sad
No you just need a setup guru - like my son  Wink

Thanks for the practice server. Once I pick a car I might need the help of the set up guru, does he offer a consultancy service? On second thoughts are you sure that's not you practicing from an early age!

Qualified alright and managed to get to the 1st corner first, then at the 2nd to last corner of the 1st lap, my wheel re-calibrated itself and and I had to turn right to keep it straight (hadn't hit anything up until this point).  This took me off across the grass.  Then waited for everyone to go past (after briefly rejoioning in the way, sorry!) and carried on.  The re-cal sorted itself out after several bumps on the barriers. Managed to get past some of the BRMs (nice when you have a lotus), but was then gutted to spin, then spin again and rip a wheel off.  What a waste of tokens!!!  Reckon I had decent pace and thought I'd be able to drive calmly enough, mustn't have waited long enough to cool the tyres and didn't have prib.  Oh well, on to the next race and a circuit I have never even seen!

I dislike Mexico on the best of days - I think the BRM wasn't my smartest choice as a result  Roll Eyes

Roll on the next track - whatever that is.....
