Moderator's Report

On reviewing the race, there were a number of unreported incidents involving Corvettes lapping Mustangs, some avoidable contacts, and some narrowly avoided ones.

Corvette drivers - the closing speeds are high, and the Mustangs have a a larger braking zone, and slower apex speeds - please adjust your braking and corner entries accordingly. Also, please be aware that the Mustangs have a tendancy towards understeer on entry, and oversteer on exit - please allow them room to compensate for this.

Mustang drivers - either stay with your normal racing line, or make it clear in advance what your intentions are to avoid any mid-corner confusion. Please be aware that when running side by side on the straights that there will likely still be Corvettes looking to pass at speed ... keep a watch on that rear view.

Server replay time: 20s

Nick has greater speed out of T2, giving him a chance to pass, but there is contact with the back of Roberts car, resulting in Nick hitting the barrier.

Rob had lost sight of Nick in his mirrors, and after running wide in T2 had a compromised line through T3 - which he kept to. There was room on the outside which should have allowed both cars to make it safely through T3/4 and then allow Nick to make the pass approaching/into T5. Although the cars had more room to play with, it does look like the back of Rob's car kicks out slightly on turning in to T3, causing the incident.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 1370s

Rob is very late on the brakes into T5, flies past Oily and was lucky not to recieve more damage after contact with the tyre wall.

Server replay time: 4460s

Lapping the leading Mustang, Rob moves accross to pass Jonathan, but moves too far and makes contact with Nick sending them both into the barriers.

Nick could have moved left slightly to make things easier, but there was sufficient space to make the pass safely nonetheless.

Server replay time: 4470s

Out of T10, Robert makes contact with Jonathan's Mustang. Jonathan couldn't have given Rob any more room - a safe pass should have been easily made.

Have you guys got an idiot-proof guide you might be willing to share?

Given there's only two cars I think i better knock up some Prodigy skins - I'm alright painting the thing it's just the getting it to the car bit that used to drive me nuts in the Simbin games!

Idiot proof guide to ... Trading Paints?

I'm waiting for the rest of the team to test the idiot-proofness Cheesy

To trial/install a skin all you need to do is to name the .tga file with your iRacing customer ID - which can be found at https://members.iracing.com/membersite/account/Home.do and then you put the file (16529.tga in my case) into the relevant folder.  By default it will be C:\Users\Username\Documents\iRacing\paint\cars\fr500s (in Win7).  Once the file is in there you're all done, and the skin will show in the next session you load up.

Trading Paints automates the download-and-move-to-the-right-folder process.  Each driver uploads the drivernumber.tga to the site, selects what car it is for, adds it to the SROUK Enduro list, and we have a vibrant (hideously so due to certain persons who shall remain nameless ...) grid for our races Smiley

Ah ok yes sorry i should have been a little more specific - it's the going from a .PSD to a .TGA in the right format I usually struggle with!

Thanks, though the other info's useful too!

Simples!

32 bit with RLE compression.

Trading paints do a VIDEO TUTORIAL on the process.

If anyone needs a skin painting I can have a go for you Smiley

Mike, or anyone be willing to maybe paint both cars in a Pseudo skin for me? Something similar to the C6R we have in GTR2. I would have a go myself but i dont have any software to do the painting.  (waits for the pink jokes)  Roll Eyes

Would be much appreciated

Hmm, I'm trying to figure out the best way to drive the Vette.   So far I've been trying to take turns in a higher gear to use the torque on the way out, but I find that it won't turn as well mid-corner.  I'm making some progress with setup, but I have no idea how my times are measuring up.  Cheesy

From a full tank I'm getting 1:40.5 but I still need to do some long runs.
