Hi folks, On the back of a generally well received post on improving my / our skills, thought I'd start this for specific help on this combination!
I'm in the stang and seem to have a nice set up and am doing 2.07's.... how is that for pace? Anyone else got any times? I guess the obvious comments are ... get turn 1 right as it leads onto the long straight!
Any other guidance!?

An observation from Tuesday's Radical race whilst I was watching the replay back is that the final two corners are much much quicker than most people seem to realise.

2:07 is pretty decent (for a non-alien) Martin

There's a few threads about this, and I am not sure about what is going on... when is this? I'd like to attend.

It's not an event - its more for pointers for the upcoming race.
A practice session is pencilled in for the evenIng before the race, but we have been wondering about whether to carry on with them as they've not been well attended and doubles the cost of the series.
If a practice server could function as a lesson session for the race then it would be much more worthwhile.nit would also likely attract a few more slower drivers trying to narrow the gap between them abs the faster drivers.
I'll run a practice server for the first few races, but if attendance is low I'll likely can it to reduce costs.

Cool, thanks for the update, I was just lurking trying to figure out what was happening :-) I'll run a practice server for the first few races, but if attendance is low I'll likely can it to reduce costs.

I've spent ages tweaking the fixed setup for the Vette... And I am now right back where I started So 1:40 - 1:41 race pace seems OK for the Vette. Tyre performance doesn't drop too badly, but I think I'll be changing them at the stops, depends how long I can run for. With the Vette, don't try and carry a lot of speed in, it won't have it and you'll end up missing your apex by miles... sideways. It helps to slide the rear in a bit to encourage the turn, but very hard to do that consistently, particularly here. It has plenty of traction, so don't worry too much about hitting that throttle. So I'm going to leave it alone now and just drive. I am not feeling comfortable at Watkins, there are a few turns that I don't think I've really got right yet, not sure I will either! This isn't one of my best tracks, even though I like it.

Haven't tried yet with quali fuel.

The speed difference between the 'stang and the 'vette looks like it's going to be huge!

Ok guys, how about some post mortem advise? I did the race in two halves but my tyres were toast about 4 laps sort of halfway!? Anything I can do to improve my tyre wear? Setup? / driving style? Ta

Which tyres were worst? Both fronts: braking too late and/or too hard and locking them. Outside front (left at a clockwise circuit): steering too much and/or trying to carry too much speed in faster corners Rears: sliding too much under power (unlikely to be locking rear brakes if you're making it to the end of the race ) Locking brakes is the usually biggest single cause as it wears them much faster than anything else short of rolling burnouts. Brake earlier - remember, you can't make up a lot of time under braking but you can certainly lose a lot.

If you continue to make it this easy to pull your leg, it's going to take all the fun out of it Martin
