I hope this is a different version of the track to the one used for the Mini race, because I can't get anywhere near Ade's lap record Mini times.  Huh

Same version I'm afraid  Huh (but he was in the 1310S Mini  Smiley)

  Grin Sorted............Many thanks.

The The Daimlar has about the same pace as the Tina but you cant extend the gear ratios enough down the main straight so its reving its nuts off.  Grin

You are using all FIVE gears arn't you

Yep Tony 5 fwd it is  Grin Yesterday on the server, I couldn't get lapstimes as fast as ADE in his Cortina, but managed a low 2.06 in the Jag. I really had fun flying by Matt's Cortina on the long straight and watching it disapear in my rear mirror ( the Jag does some 135 mph there )

Hmm, was really enjoying that & was hoping for a decent finish :'(. I entered T1 a fraction narrow, so exited a yard wider than normal & caught the outside wall on exit. BOOM!!!

Race over. A real shame, classic combination of car & track, plus yet another decent turnout for UKGTL Cool

Unfortunately, that marks the end of my regular attendance. I'm now doing shifts at work & with alternate weeks being on lates, unfortunately I have to miss 3 out of 4 GTL from now on (being on only on the weeks I'm scheduled to work Angry). Really gutted. UKGTL has been about my favourite drive for the past six months, credit to Tony, he's really struck a good formula thumbup1. (Now make GTL race every week you ******, I want to turn up! Wink)

See you all in PnG land.

Hey guys, had a disconnection tonight but had a fun 1st race with you guys. Qualified midfield and had a reasonable start, made a position (I think) down the straight after turn 2, but the car suddenly felt like I was pushed off from the back. Can't see who it was on replay but doesn't matter. Was dead last and started in catch up mode. Caught a gaggle of cars and managed to slip past a few and made some positions when a few others went wide here and there. I was up to 7th and looking forward toi having a slow catch up to 6th but then had the disco.

Had great fun and looking forward to the next meet.

Shame I couldn't last the race but there's always next time.

Jason.

I also had a disco except I didn't know it and kept driving around the track like a cod, wondering why a) I hadn't caught Bill yet and b) why wasn't I being lapped.

Still good turnout and nice to see folk trying out all the cars.

Till next time then

Cheers

Tony

PS I'm thinking off turning the tyre wear off. It's too much off a disadvantage to the heavier cars.

Grrrreat racing, hindsight says I should have pitted and changed tyres, and would then have been able to control
the wayward leather settee instead of falling off and wasting more than a pitstop + slower times.
One time I turned in early at the end of the straight only to find grip! bounced off the inside fence and
had to drive round the back of the pits to get back on the track, other time I did same as Legz, in T1 only
less damage and kept going, front right has a sliver of red showing, all the others were down to 0 for
the last few laps. I am very much for getting rid of the tyre wear, I assume it's there to make the Falcon
less of an advantage, but the effect is it makes the jag and Daimler a choice of fools, (like me)

As always Aintree is great place to race Smiley. After a long dry spell of no racing of any kind it was great to get back with you fellas for some good door to door racing Grin. I had a good start off the line from 4th on the grid to battle Ade for the lead going into the first corner. I think we rubbed just a tiny bit but Ade gave room on the entry and I gave room of the exit and Ade was the winner coming out of the corner Tongue. Great stuff!! Wink Ade was super smooth from that point and pulled ahead quickly. Then Geoffers and myself were in lock step for a bunch of laps Cool. I started making some mistakes from the pressure and he got by. Then Sqter was closing in on me and I was going to let him by before the end of the back straight but he must of lifted too. Next thing I noticed was he wasn't there so not sure what happened to him. I was able to pace myself to stay about 3-4 seconds behind Geoffers for the rest of the race trying to save on tires but could not catch him at the end.  Great Win Ade and nice run for second Geoffers Wink Lots of fun to be back on track fellas Grin

Good to see you back Navin.  thumbup1

I didn't initially like Aintree much, was really struggling to get the corners right, but after some setup changes I really got into it. 4th at the start, I eased past Sqter in lap 3 when he was slow onto the back straight & chased down Navin. Took some time to find a way past, but when he eventually made a mistake at T4 I got past. Pushed hard for a few laps in the vain hope I might be able to catch Ade, but he was just too quick & I concentrated on holding the gap to Navin constant & not making any mistakes.

All went well until the final lap when I came across Bill recovering from a spin at T3  eek. We had a slight disagreement about who wanted which piece of track & this allowed Navin to close the gap to less than a second. Just managed to hang on to 2nd place at the line.  sweatdrop

Congrats to Ade (too fast!) & Navin in 3rd.  clap

Firstly apologies to Geoffers as you know I always try and get out lappers way particularly when they are racing someone close behind but my Falcon’s tyres and front brakes were shot by then and I was just a passenger.  Fortunately it didn’t affect the result – just brightened up the remainder of the lap for you.

Took a while to get sorted in practice and then set new PB and again in qualifying, next to last on the grid.  Made a good start as usual and then over did it on cold tyres dicing with Alex, by the time I got going again I was about 8 secs behind.  Tried to make up time and after a while had another off leaving me trailing Alex by about 20 secs.  After that I had a lonely race for a while.

Then Tony pitted and at the end of the lap I was about 8 secs ahead, next lap it was down to about 6 secs, so I kept pressing on and the gap started to increase then the DNF came up.  The only other highlight was my battle (trying to avoid being lapped) with Matt in his Daimler, every time he came sufficiently close for me to move over and lift off he’d have a big slide or tank slapper.  Then I saw a Cortina behind him so let them by only for him to go off big time around the chicane area so I passed him whilst we was still trying to collect it on the grass.  After he caught me up we continued as before with me letting him pass with another Cortina behind him.  By which time I was finding it difficult to judge braking points, line and cornering speed, which is what happened with Geoffers – he wasn’t in sight and then after I went off and bounced back there he was.

That basically sums it also up for me (only with a steady gap to the front and to the back).
Entertainment was proveded by an exploding GTL Jag just in front of me. Great show.

Congrats to Ade and Matt for finishing the Daimler Sofa.

ps. suffered some freezes during the race. Thought it was my old system but disco's are on the rise again  Huh

Smiley I was pleasantly surprised at the highly competitive driving for this event and qualified P8  :'(
Then found on the grid I was slotted right behind my team mate Legsy.  Grin I got a good start and passed said team mate, the usual battle then ensued which is always great fun, but Legsy eventually disappeared (off at T1 I believe). Pushed on but was caught by Phspok in the flying Jag, we had a nice little fight, but I Knew your tyres would not last Phspok and eventually you dropped back.  Grin
I than ran all alone for what seemed an age, then in the distance at T last I spotted a huge plum of dust rising, it was Sqter. Sqter was now close in front and his car looked sick, a strange game began Sqter would pull away up to 6 seconds and then suddenly lose ground again and I would close. This happened again and again in the last 10 laps and then on lap 27 he spun on T last again and I was through.  Cheesy I then had a small gap for the last 2 laps Sqter closed but not enough and P4 was mine.  Grin

Not a bad night's work P8 to P4. Thanks for another great race Tony.  Smiley

PS I wish I had worked on a Falcon for this track I think with some set up work it might be a winner.  Smiley
