ROUND 9
International Gold Cup Meeting
Saturday 19th September 1964

All members welcome.

Grid/server capacity: 28

Practice: ~19:20 (60 mins)
Qualifying: 20:20 (20 mins)
Race: 20:40 (30 laps = ~60mins)

Track: Oulton Park International Circuit Download this

Cars allowed: Ford Falcon, UKGTL Jaguar MKII Download this, Daimler V8 Download this, Lotus Cortina, Mini Cooper S, 1310 Mini Cooper S Download this.

Ford Falcon available only to new drivers and anyone 15th and lower in the championship standings.
1310 Mini Cooper S available only to new drivers and anyone 22nd and lower in the championship standings.

This race will use the UKGTL Skin Pack 1.8.0.0.

Time of Day Setting: 14:00
Start: STANDING
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: Normal

Server: simracing.org.uk BSCC
Password: see above

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) Driver lists can be found on the Championship standings page
(4) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: Avoid going off at Knickerbrook. There is a hole in the surface that you may fall into. Also avoid the RH side of the track by the first tree on the RH side after the pit lane exit. There is an invisible obstacle there.

Please read this

After the recent test race it was discovered that the Jag MkII has a delicate engine. If you drive it hard the engine will quickly expire. If you watch the revs and don't exceed 6000rpm you will be fine.
I have added another car to this series, the Daimler V8. There are two versions. The white car suffers in the same way as the Jag MkII however the red car has no problems.
I will continue to investigate if there is a fix for the Jag.

Please read this

This circuit is different from the Oulton Park used earlier in this series. You will need to download it if you haven't already.

I presume it is the 1960s version of the track that we need for this Tony.

Yes, that's the one. The link in the announcement points to download links if required.

Nice fast open track but beware if you go straight on at the right hander - after where chicane is now, (we've all written of cars in practice there) - there is a spot where you finish up in a permanent disco till the next world beckons.  Shocked Huh :'(

No but on the track layout on the track loading screen it's the second right hand kink after the hairpin.  Just after 300 maker there are loads of real black braking lock up marks on the track. Next straight bit has "Motor" bridge over track.

Amendment Think it's Knickerbrook:-

I think this will be a classic race.

We have four excellent drivers fighting over the two remaining podium steps.

EDIT: Please make sure you all have the correct version of this circuit loaded. It is NOT the same as the one used earlier in this season.

Apologies, it should be OK now. But there is a race tonight so it won't be up for long.
