I came at 22 past 9 and everyone was in the chat room, so I don't know where you logged, blito, lol.

Bernie, try closing all unnecessary processes from the trask manager (ctrl-alt-del) before racing. I always do that and it helps.

Well, had half a thought of picking the BT7 before the race, but then quickly decided to follow the other half  Smiley. And I was right, since even putting in a pretty decent effort in the low 51s I still was forced to second spot on the grid by the usual suspect, the annoyingly quick Bulgarian..

An average start and as we approached T1, I had Hristo on my left, Vos glued right to my tail, and obvious disaster fast approaching ahead helpsmilie! Should have maybe lifted gently, to make Vos know that, erm, at that speed the corner wasnt really going to happen for me, or I should have realised that I was actually well past Hristo and could have opened up my line a bit by the time we reached the top of the hill. Did neither, and instead opted for a solid amount of last minute braking. As a result, I drifted wide on the left soon meeting the armco, had a look at my mirrors and...oh dear, dust and spinning wheels all over the place. When I had a look at my prib at the end of the lap, I couldnt see any of the top 4 guys, tapped again my F8 to go down the order and nothing happened. Jesus!! What did I do!! Wiped off the entire field in a huge carnage at turn 1 and provoked a massive disco, only five of us left scared scared scared!! Right, I managed to piss off the entire league now..Well, it turns out that prib doesnt actually scroll down as I thought it did, and my part in the T1 incident was limited to a distractring dodge line. Sorry about that, but I am relieved I was lucky enough not to collect anyone. Vos, you should have stayed on, there were plenty of clashes later on and I think you would have recovered easily, having fun in the process.

At the end of lap 1 I was still second, following the BT7 of Bob, who had sneaked into the lead at turn 2 making me think he was a miraculously survived Hristo. But it was all soon to go wrong, since I lethargically ran into him when he spun in front of me, and then did it again a lap or two later when Goran did the same. So, it was now down to 10Th place and off to a very entertaining come back, taking advantage of my superior chassis and of the many scraps and clashes ahead.
Grats to the winner and to Bob, who managed to keep me at bay for the last 2 laps in a ridiculously slower car. Big commiserations to Fabio for a stroke of rotten luck after a brilliant race. Its only thanks to that that I made the podium!

Incidentally, I did have some stutter here and there, which is odd since I don't recall anything like that during the race with the novices a couple of months ago. But that race was pretty solitary, so it may be of no relevance. Also had some episodes of crazy warping (like cars appearing and disappearing). But they were strangely sudden and isolated. Might be something with the server settings?

Missed you Jason Sad

Big fun for me trying to hold off people who were faster (errr that will have been all of them then Cheesy)

Few mistakes and some comings together so bit alarmed to see Billy moderating...

It is going to take me ages just to pin down my incidents <sigh>

Thx all mates for your kind words but... I only have to blame it on me!! death

If the race would have only lasted 15 laps it would have been my best one with UKGPL but, unfortunately, it didn't... no

First race of the year: a great track and a car that I didn't drive so much in the past.

Some rust to dust off during qualify but, in the end, I set my PB and I will start the race from the 5th time on the grid.

A bad race start, as usual since too much time, was compensated with a BIG luck so I wasn't involved at all on the crashes happening in front of me.

I finally found myself on 3rd place, with AA and Bob battling for the first place, only thinking about Ronnie behind me.

Then, BIG luck again, after one or two laps they crashed together and I found myself at 1st place!!

I suddenly get back down to earth, when I read on the board that H was just behind me scared scared

It took less than a lap and he was really close but I was good enough (thx BT11... clown) to keep him behind me for nearly three laps then I went wide and he pass me.

I was really surprised that he didn't go away so easily as I expect (thx slipstream...) and it was helpful for me to follow his racing lines closely: a lot of fun indeed!! thumbup2

Then, lap after lap, the gap from H slowly increased and, with Tommy nearly 15" behind my car, I began to loose my concentration  yawn (the last five laps I was quite falling asleep sleep1) so I made some mistakes... until the big one!!

On last lap, at the Schikane I spun and I found myself after the armco on the right side of the track...

I sadly recovered and I went straight to the pits, looking for the deepest hole to bury me in hang

Well done to H, Bob and AA, to everybody raced and to the race organization.

LONG LIVE GPL, LONG LIVE UKGPL!!

It's a fun race so no moderating - you can breath easy  Grin

Firstly I'd never risk running no AV, very risky - I use Avast and it's free. I'd scrap ad-aware if I was you, some of them find errors that aren't there just to scare you into paying out money for the 'pro' version.

I use 100% free protection software - Avira as my anti-virus (AVG is equally good and includes its own firewall), Comodo as firewall, SpywareGuard, Spybot Search&Destroy and SUPERAntiSpyware for covering all types of adware/spyware/malware.

All of them are very light (with the exception of Spybot which I turn off when playing games usually) and protect me without fail for the last 2 years. They require some customization of course, but once you do that you forget about them.

I've chosen these programs after reading a great post by a specialist who suggests this combination of protection software and I've been really happy that I followed the advice.

I recently ditched AVG which I subscribed to for 3 years (contractruns out end of Jan 2011 ) I had all kinds of issues with it in GPL and could never get it sorted .

I also use  Spy Bot and never had a problem with it , looks like Ad Aware is for the chop then  Grin

Might try Avast , I have it running free on my laptop and it seems intrusive there Thanks

I was hopefully delaying trying new anti virus stuff untill S20 season end , any changes to the basic system are usually bad news for me and end up having problems , trouble is I dont have the patience required to fettle a stupid computer that wont do what its told  Sad

should have left well alone but was worrying that the screen freeze was some kind of infection , also noted the cooling fan has been kicking in when it never did before , considering the cold in my loft i would have thought the electricckery would need a hot water bottle not extra cooling  Grin

Edit to ask "what do the Flags GG... F etc. mean in VROC maybe I'm jumping the gun here and there all sportscar stuff , tried iGor thats all sporty car stuff too  Embarrassed

Well, I haven't used AVG myself, but been told it's good. Avira is just awesome though. Very light, very non-intrusive and protects without skipping a beat. And I really like that it doesn't include anything else except anti-virus protection, so I can use whatever firewall and anti-malware software I want.

I use AVG free Bernie and I have no problems with GPL at all. It is strange though, on my laptop, GPL runs under windows 7 with User protection on. If I try to put UAC on the main PC Gem won't run. V strange so I think it is down to the various combinations of drivers. You just have to find what works for you.

Hi Bernie, been using AVG free and Ad aware for years with no issues with GPL. But make sure you have updating and scanning set for manual control or sods law says it will start updating/scanning just as you enter a race and bring your PC to a grinding halt. Hope you get it all sorted for the Glen.

Thanks all , the problems I had using AVG were about connecting to servers when I couldn't join any races unless I switched AVG off completley , never did find what portion of it was causing the trouble , but I said it was the "full" liscenced version with a few more bells and whistles , rootkit and stuff , maybe the free version is OK as it isnt so intrusive . Going to try some others but not before the Glenn as its too close timewise to undo any problems if I get them .  Wink

Sounds like the firewall part of it blocking your application, so you probably just need to give it permission to connect through the Internet.
